I find this so funny, my father (who passed away in 2011) always used to make me laugh by always telling his dream of owning a pickle farm or some crazy pickle pancake restaurant or something ridiculous and pickle related. Honestly, I think he just really liked the word pickle. It was dumb but it would always crack a smile on my face.
Fast forward to this year, I was browsing the internet to find your Earthquaker tour and how you explained the process of using unconventional objects as audio tools which as a pro audio tech I found a lot of wonderful inspiration.
When it came to the pickles being essentially electrocuted for the use of rock n roll... I died laughing, like barely breathing laughing, this was the most amazing thing I have ever seen, and then, of course, shedding tears as I wouldn't be able to show this to my dad.
My father would find your pickle experiments to be cruel to pickles but wonderful nonetheless, I know I certainly do. I sure do hope somebody (maybe myself) will create the pickle pedal...

What blows me away isn't just that it sounds amazing in terms of using the pickle filter as a modulation input on a source signal, but that it's truly unique. I've been using things like Perlin Noise to get "random but pleasing" modulation sources, but this is a whole other level. From a production session context I'm just in awe of the impact it must make on the band, and the unique-ness of that moment. Mastery! Thank you for sharing these.

Just a warning to pickle enthusiasts; be very careful of trying this with a tube amp (knock yourself out with a transistor amp). With a tube amp, if the pickle dries out too much, it's the same as playing with it not plugged into a speaker at all, which is no bueno for your output transformer...

I like a lot of Sylvia's approaches but sometimes she's just trying too hard, IMO. No disrespect, but I don't get these pickle/potatoes/light bulb things. I'm sure they're a lot of fun to produce because, well, you have a laugh but what exactly is that contributing to the music ? :) I'm just thinking that I wouldn't want my clients to feel like their hard earned money is being spent on a session with pickles and potatoes. But that's just me. Again, no disrespect, just a thought.
