Respect Ejoe. Thank you for exhibiting the true nature of house. Continue to flow, allowing the music to dictate your every movement. You are Legendary.
Ejoe has a finesse on the dance floor that he was just born with. Ofcourse skill, technique musicality etc comes into it and is very impressive but some people were just born with something that you can't put your finger on or describe. Fluidity, substance and spirit - it's such a thing to behold when he dances.
And Ejoe does pass that test so it sounds like you're agreeing with me. I'm always more drawn to the feeling of dancer as opposed to tricks. Ejoe has both and his 'tricks' are executed with a liquid smoothness he has made his own. There is a substance and style exuded from some dancers that comes with years of not just dance experience but life experience. Watching the OG's and older dancers in the New York underground dance scene as well as watching the older Flamenco dancers in Spain proved that to me. Glover vs. Hines? Cut from the same cloth and at different stages of their dance journey hence different qualities of movement. Ejoe vs. Marjorie? I love them both for what they bring to the table. Not curious as I can tell you're in the know by mentioning Hoofer's, Savion and Hines. Also - I'd accept any opinion well backed up even if I don't agree with it. It's all subjective anyway.
I think all of you with so many bad comments should do what you love, all your life only to be critiqued by people who haven't scratched the surface of their own ability but so good at rating mines.People who can't find their own greatness with hard opinions but hide faceless behind a computer.. It's really disgusting what some of you are doing to the art of dance. I wanted to stop the twisting of the form that I love and for one day, I did.I didn't make the rules...but i won..let it go
EJOE!!!!!!!!!! I can relate to you bruh!!!!!!! Love your work, every time I watch this as well as your past works, it makes me wanna come out of retirement for another round. Win or lose, HOUSE IS MY PASSION!!!!!!!! I got that fever when I was dancing with a couple of buddies that held from Jamaica, NY. We met in Germany. Ever since I can't get enough. Anyways, there's a big difference between dancing to the music and feeling the music and dancing. Anybody can dance to the music, but if you feel the music and let it lead you, then you can dance with style and grace, regardless if anybody or everybody watching. You don't dance to the music, YOU FEEL IT!!!!!!!!!! That's why I love to see your work, you're the PERFECT definition of "I LOVE MY JOB"!
I've been on E-Joe and Caleaf ... Also on Babson on Kapela ... These are two different worlds ... E-Joe and big Leaf they are about love with the music. Be the one with the music. Impress the music thru yourself. Speak it ... Baba and Kapela. They are like catch the every single sound in the music. Technique. Steps. First layer of it ... But if you go deeper. It is all about LOVE.
Hoan Nam Hoang a battle to show lovee?... naaa. For that you got the cypher or the party, I'm sorry to disagree, but a battle is a battle to know who's the best. However, like you said it, house is bout love in its deeper origin, I don't think they "battled" back in those days. Now there are competitions man. From my perspective, Kapela was a better battler.
Good point of view. but may I add a little bit on this? I would say in any situation, any situation, Ejoe is always Kapela's teacher in terms of house dance.(of course they learn from each other. What I mean is Kapela learn his dance from Ejoe.) They are in two different levels whereas both of them are awesome of course.
Jimie Chou I agree 100%. Kapelas style is directly influenced by Ejoe. I would guess. Hard to know for sure. But me. Just as a fan. I’m completely aware of both styles. Surely they are as well. I would imagine. As a fan of music. Music culture. Dance. Dance culture. You have to know your roots. In order to improve.
Kapela was born in 1985. Ejoe is at Minimum 15 older than Kapela. The younger man with more energy is always gonna win/wow with faster energetic moves. Ejoe at a younger age would also have been doing a more battle style (I was fortunate to see Ejoe battle in the 90's nightclubs). As you get older , the focus is on smoother, since one lacks youthful vigor. Battles usually go to the younger guy because smoothness doesn't have the wow factor that energy has.
Poetry in motions bro. Both kats were awesome!! I remember watching Ejoe & Caleaf do their thing at the Sound Factory Bar in the 90's. Legends!!! I'm very happy to see that this still lives. Keep it going fellas... One Love!
Ejoe is a Legend of House Dance, but he did a little too much cruising for a finals competition. Kapela brought the energy and he was the better performer on that day, although it was somewhat like Apples vs. Oranges. Ejoe's smooth, fluid athletic style is more what I try to instill in my dance, but maybe in part because I'm an old man with roots in the 60's and 70's.
In my opinion Ejoe should have won. A lot of people just don't realize that it's rare to have a dancer let the music move them. Nowadays people are counting steps and more concerned with trying to pull off their signature "wow" steps instead of just feeling and listening to the music and combine it with what they are feeling at the time to let that type of energy guide them and have the end result something wonderful. People like Ejoe will not always win not because they are having an off day. It's the politics of being that good and the judges not wanting to give credit where credit is due as a result of sheer haterade. I have personally been in circles with Ejoe and Kapela only saw 5 percent of Ejoe's techniques. Kapela can dance but it's not a rush to get all your moves in which is a mistake many dancers make when battling. Let your skills speak for itself
This is so right! Watching this was like watching the Tyson and Buster Douglas fight! I’ve seen Ejoe in his prime and after. I remember him in the club drawing you out with his mild smooth moves then when you use up all you moves, he unloads an arsenal of spins, floor combinations, some flips, footwork, and all done at one time in multiple combinations that keep you guessing whether he’s going stay up or stay low to the group. It would always be something new and creative with Ejoe. You’ve got to feel it and not just operate the dance. That’s the difference with Kappela but I see after watching for some time it’s just his style and he perfected it perfectly lovely. But still in all he’s definitely not Bert than Ejoe so far but he’s still young and getting way better to me . He’s dope and earned his place in this underground dance thing ! Ejoe just didn’t have the eye of the tiger that day. Clearly Kapella beat him that day fair and square. Ejoe slept on him . He came in his mind to bring it and he did.
Ejoe is extremely good and merges with the music, but if you take a look at how skilled and how on point kapela is in this battle, it's unbelieveable, even ejoe himself doesn't have nearly the stamina and althetics to keep up with kapela, literally kapela is in such great shape and has such precise practiced moves, he can do anything i love kapela.
Ejoe's foundation and connection is incredible. The athleticism is like sugar. It's nice, it's good but that's not necessarily what makes a good dancer. Hats off to both E Joe and Kapela. Loved both of their ideas.
I can feel Ejoe's pain. He took against a lot of dancers. When you take against so many dancers like he did during that escapade, you become tired. But it doesn't matter, he still receive mad props from me. I been out of touch and I think it's time for me to come out of retirement.
Every time I view the Comments 2 these House Battles, many people want 2 know the tracks that where played. If some1 (not me) knows them, can u please share them? The tunes r sweet. It's 2 bad that the Publisher doesn't just b proactive & put the tracks along with the artists on. Everything else is well presented: The Event; Location; Dancers; Producer; Directors; Camera People; Editors; Host; Judges; and DJs... Why not the Tracks as well? I'm not mad @ all... I'm just dying 2 obtain the tunes like every1 else. Long Live House!!!
Hiro is an example of someone with a quick style constantly killing every beat but still has the smooth musical delivery. kapela does it really hip hop and battle like and its off putting. it doesn't look good with house music, better for bboying
Stop complaining you guys and just go practice. None of your opinion on who won or who's better is going to change anything. Why don't you just enjoy the dance part, see how they share their techniques with each other, how they greet with each other, and skip the part when deciding who the winner was, which was the least concern of improving your dance.
I'M SORRY TO SAY I HAVE WITNESSED ABOVE AVERAGE HOUSE DANCERS BACK WHEN I WAS DOING THE SAME. I RESPECT WHAT I SEE HERE BUT BELIEVE ME THERE'S A MORE ADVANCED VERSION OF THIS BEAUTIFUL ART STYLE. BUT I FEEL THE DIVERSITY IS LONG GONE.
EJOE all day!! I love how he feels the music. Also, his technique is by far more superior and deserved to be admired not in this so-called dance contest in my opinion. His skill set is off the charts. Plain n simple...

Anyone who thinks Kapela won doesn't understand house dance. It wasn't even close. Ejoe killed him from the first dance on. He flows with the music, not robotic dance moves and the same steps all of the time. Real house dance.
I'm so sick of people confusing respect with rose-colored glasses. If you had any respect for Ejoe, his legacy in dance and what he's capable of, you would recognize that this was a losing battle for him, not only against Kapela but against himself. Blind praise is for fans, true respect involves integrity.
after that last round I thought Kapela took it. However I did do notice the music kinda killed Ejoe's groove in that round and he didn't force any moves instead he went with the music, so respect to him. Did that battle really get decided by decibel levels?

You can literally just see how good kapelas basics are. even his regular steps have so much precision and energy in them.

2 different mentalities in this. One of them is based in house dance culture.
The other is based on battle culture
Maybe you're right. I think Kapela was a better battler, what do you think?
Kapela won that but, like Liuba said, two different mentalities
Luv Ljuba yes !!!
Luv Ljuba I agree. But. The house dance culture influenced the battle culture more than the opposite.

First of all Kaplan was not tense, that is his dance style. Secondly Kaplan punked Ejoe the exact same way Ejoe did Naim. Ejoe is one of my Favorites but it was Kapela's night easily. This was the worst from Ejoe.
OMG when we want to see Caleaf's reatction the frame JUST missses it. lol. every. time.
Not for nothing, really enjoyed Kapela, but really not close to Ejoe. Who cares. See the beauty they have to offer. Let them inspire you. And go do your dance. Ejoe got the check and bless him for I love the brother. But why argue about them. Go get lifted on the music and the feeling. Then this inspiration will be worth it to everyone. Sit on your azz debating on this computer and you may loose what dance you have. Love to all. and may they express their divinity thru their dance.

Ejoe probably taught him, LOL! The guy Kapela is a bit too synchronized & robotical with his steps, Ejoe is smooth and incorporates other styles to his mode of dancing. Although I don't house dance (I am old school) I do enjoy Ejoe, Lisa Pitts and Lisa Brooklyn as they can lay it downnnnnnn....
This stupid auto correct.. Kapela... Not freaking Kaplan.. Wow
Kapela's taunting only made Ejoe bring his extra super A game out and even then Ejoe is still holding back! Ejoe is a Master!
Kapela jumping around Ejoe fluid and doing it the right wa....this is not even close if you want to get a French dancer to give Ejoe a bit of competition you gotta put him. up against Serge Lopez from France.
Ejoe won! You people just want to hype the competitor. If you judge it on moves and rhythm Ejoe just make it look to easy.
Yoooo! WTF?! Kapela won this easily!!! Not even close but, respect 2 both...peace
