i appreciate it as hearing the commentary, it reinforces the impressions i have gotten from certain showcases..both the positive and negative. also in battles or circles here i see the disconnect between the music and the dance sometimes and this puts it into words.
A positive would be when the dancer is really accenting and relating to the music being played. Hearing that commentary is like reinforcing the good feeling I get from watching that happen, like oh the judge or the guest sees that too. A negative like when the dancer is doing too many steps or relying on tricks, whatever. The guest picks that out and I am like, well that is exactly what I notice and it feels validating to hear it expressed by someone with a deep background. @@enculturationpodcast
Phenomenal video! I actually did this exercise with my teacher. We’d watch battle videos and describe who we thought won and why. The way Ejoe breaks things down *in the moment* so succinctly is very cool. And you can tell his philosophy is strong and he believes it - what he’s saying is tangible and the viewer sees it in real time. Awesome vid Vinh!
This was great! Speaking my language I’m a really feely person. I don’t care how cool, fast, strong or athletic someone’s moves are if they’re not listening to the music and expressing from it it doesn’t connect with me or make me feel anything at all. Ejoe finds the pocket and sits in it so well. ❤
I'm curious what your takeaway was from Ejoe's commentary. I thought he was excellent in communicating the subtle strategies and how/why there can be a drastic difference in the outcome of your artistry depending on what your base/starting point was. Such as the point where he mentioned he's gonna base this whole round on that one sound in the music and he sprinkles the physicalities into it but doesn't lead with it.
@@boogiem0nst3r yeah It was crazy to hear him giving so precise comments. You should do that with more dancers. It is great to learn more about House dance
Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate being informed that this is valuable. I have limited time with these podcasts and we can only fit so much into an episode, so its good to know what is really sticking with folks out here.@@jeremyuzan1169
