The guy with the glasses has the best tenor voice!
No they all have nice voices, but not bel canto voices. Personally, I think The 3 Tenors did this Neapolitan song, "O sole mio" way better and also, I think the one of the better tenors is Corelli here with Callas: ua-cam.com/video/aKMfW-4aW-A/v-deo.html
One is a spinto tenor the other a a speiltenor different voices different ranges they are all awesome

@@rosalacerda5266 and he is the only one with no formal training. Ignazio's parents took out loans to pay for voice lessons. Piero was also studying opera at the time. Gianluca is just a natural.

It's so beautiful
There was literally not one genuine opera singer in the whole bunch. Even the Il Volo are mediocre tenors who didn't even sing opera.
Programs like XFactor opened the door for the world to appreciate all the talented and beautiful singers out there. Without these programs we would never be able to enjoy and appreciate these amazing people.It amazes me every day how much talent there is out there all over the world. Bravo!
Il Volo appeared on the last show of one season of "America's Got Talent." It was very early on, maybe 2011 or 2012. They weren't as good as they are now, but way, way above average.

What I really liked about the performance is that the three guys looked like they were having a lot of fun and enjoying themselves, despite having created such a masterpiece.
There were no egos, and no one trying to dominate the whole song (ahem, Il Divo).

@@isabelserrano6018 I have a ticket for their April 6, 2022, performance. I told my neighbors next door (military family stationed in Italy for several years) and they immediately got tickets in the same row. It sold out quickly, but resale tickets are still available. I am very excited to be able to see them in person. I just hope the new Omicron variant of COVID doesn't spoil everything!!!! Part of the Morricone concert is streaming now on PBS if you are a member, magnifico!

Frankly, I find their choice of song horrible and I also find their voices to generally be not appealing (with the slight exception of the person at 9:44 (Sergiu Braga) who has a good natural voice but is unfortunately manufacturing the sound on most of the notes so we can't hear his beautiful voice).
In fact my second criticism, is that their sound is too forward and therefore doesn't have the spin of an operatic voice. They haven't been trained and yet are singing heavy arias such as Nessun Dorma with a light, airy sound that is too heavy. Instead, they should aim to produce (with their voice), a dark sound that is full but not heavy - light on the vocal chords.
It is unfair for the singers and not their fault because they have been thrown into the spotlight without realising how damaging their singing is to their own voice - when they are not mature enough to even know the limits of their voice.
My last criticism is that this video has classified - wrongly - the songs that they have sung as 'opera'. The only real 'opera song' or aria in this video is "Nessun Dorma" which seems to be a favourite on the XFactor, Britain's Got Talent etc...

I am glad to see Il Volo are still singing together. Time shows them to have matured into young men, their voices have grown stronger, rounder and more uniform throughout their vocal range. They are just a joy to "behold."
I agree. I've watched 'em mature over the years. They're some good looking young men with so very different ravishing voices, yet blend beautifully together. Ignazio Boschetto delivers force without restraint and such ease; impressive!

@@Eturoel I agree as well. IL VOLO is a treasure and they do not sing any genre of music all the time. They call themselves Pop Opera singers,, and I think that is a good term to describe them. Others call it Popra, which is too cutsey to me.

I love the double take that the lady judge did when the group started singing Carmina Burana.
If this was in 2009,where are they now after almost 12 years? Would like to know if they are still together?
Opera or not opera - where is the problem? They all CAN sing and this is the most important.
An the guys from il Volo are simply exceptional.
the problem is that someone is inflating their real talent by calling it by a high-falootin' name. That's wrong headed: it's like callig Bazooka bubblegum "haute cuisine". That's a problem. Frankly, its the kind of thinking that leads kids to blow out their larynxes by age 16, and ruining them for any future singing. It's happened before, and it will happen again, so long as there are goo-goo-eyed adults who misbehave.
@@nedcrouch3202 touched on a good point, even if that happens though it's not the end of the world, just gotta train your voice back to health after the injury, for some people it's months but for some it's years. Doesn't mean you can't come back from it just an uphill battle.
Opera is technically incredibly demanding because you have to sing accurately, probably in a foreign language, with sufficient resonance to be heard over an orchestra without amplification, in a way that is emotionally rich, and dramatically plausible. It's one of those things that the more opera you hear, the more you realise what it ought to sound like.

@@brianaguilar8283 and many opera singers are not native English speakers. However, most professional opera singers will have a repertoire that spans several languages. Relatively few operas were written in English in the 18th Century (excepting some by Handel), 19th (save for G&S perhaps) and the first half of the 20th Century. Which severely limits the repertoire. So, as I said, most opera singer will probably sing regularly in a languages other than their native tongue.

OH!! Those violins!! the Tenors are also outstanding! What follows is simply incredible!
The first act was out of the world, but they are established super stars. The third act was not from an opera. Time To Say Goodbye is more of an operatic pop song. The 4th act, the Romanian guy singing Nessun Dorma, he was the real surprise. He blew the judges and audience of their feet. Absolutely fantastic.
But his prononciation is not good at all. Voice is not enough even very beautiful voice.
He dragged, shouted, and was off key.

That first real group auditioning was amazing. They sounded as if it were an entire choir singing, but it was only 5 of them. And the tall thin guy that came a couple of acts later gave me goose bumps! I don't love opera but I truly enjoyed these performances....

Oh how beautiful! My Mama Loved Opera, she had Placido Domingo albums and Maria Callas but her heart belong to Pavarotti. Every time he sang she cried. She loved the 3 tenors and i still have the vhs tape of them. So I came on here to listen to Pavarotti sp? and Lord he makes me cry. Such emotion in his voice and memories of Mama.... That first group I have I think it is a Christmas Cd of theirs. They are wonderful. But I miss as Mama called him 'My Big Bear"...... But so grateful to have such wonderful talent in this younger generation to continue this beautiful music.......

No, Ignazio is not the only talented member of IL VOLO … he would be the first to say that Piero and Gianluca are equally and uniquely talented. They can pursue individual careers but it’s so gratifying that they have been performing from 2009 to 2021. I hope they will still be performing together for many more years.

sylvio poitrais, May I suggest that you check out an Asian show on UA-cam called SUPER VOCAL which has classically trained guys that do quite a few operas. LA VITA, NESSUN DORMA, LUNA, and others VOLARE too. Despite being Asian they pronounce the words very well. Some good songs in English they do are THE SOUND OF SILENCE, I DREAMED A DREAM where one of the guys singing it reached a D8. Then theres THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT and CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT? Please check them out, just type in first SUPER VOCAL then the song title.

I keep returning to these amazing young tio bravo bravo I am so grateful to be able to listen and watch this video Just Love it so much! How beautiful it´s the Opera...
I was very surprised to see Il Volo pop up. They have been my favorite group since I saw their performance on PBS maybe 8 or so years ago from Detroit. I now have the DVD of them then. They were just baby faced kids of maybe 14, 15, and 16. They are all very good looking young men now with each having a very different voice. Gianluca has a velvet voice, Ignazio a very versatile voice, and Piero has the powerful voice. They harmonize perfectly. They aren't well known in the USA, but much of the rest of the world enjoys this wonderful group. I know I do!
14:58 - Sergiu Braga. Beautiful voice. I really loved his rendition, although this aria has been sung to exhaustion. Nevertheless, he was great!
Excellent presentation of true talent. Such beautiful renditions of Operatic masterpieces. The Russian judge didn't break any guitars this time, as he did on another occasion to a lovely Ukrainian man.!!!!!!!

The young man singing Nessum Dorma starts out good then gets better and at the end he is amazing. Like the judge, I would have thrown a chair too.

Steve Charters, A few weeks ago I discovered an Asian show on UA-cam called SUPER VOCAL. The singers on it are all classically trained and they do songs like NESSUN DORMA, LA VITA, LUNA and others and VOLARE. They do some songs in English like THE SOUND OF SILENCE which I reckon is a must see and there is I DREAMED A DREAM where one of the singers does a D8. Others include THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT, CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT? The guy who does the D8 does a solo video called SHE IS MY SIN which to me is a wild ride as he goes low in the middle of it. Please do check the videos out because I think you could enjoy them like I do and type in the name of the show before the song.
Great operatic tenors like Pavarotti, Corelli, and Bjorling knew how to sing Nessun Dorma. Today lots of singers try to sing it, but none of them succeed.
