Thankyou so much for your kind comments. Marty was unbelievably talented; not only a great singer with the most beautiful of voices, but also he had an outstanding songwriting ability. His stage performances were pretty dynamic and there'lll never be another like him.
Marty has been a part of my whole life (I’m now 60) my dad was a MASSIVE fan of him since I was really young, dad even named our kitten Marty! We played El Paso ( ultimate song) at dads funeral in 2005.......a wondrous balladeer, thank you Marty ❤️
How can he start off that way? I guess he had warm up, but it's still great. I miss Marty so often!! What a great songwriter!! Listen to the words. Wow!!
This is MY song!! Ever since I have heard this song it´s been my "good mood" song. If I was sad, sick or in bad mood I just listened to this song and dark clouds were gone. I danced to the music and sang with Marty out loud. I love all Marty´s songs, but this one makes me smile and I can´t just listen to it once, before I move on to the next one, just like now. ;-)) I sure do miss him.
My wife was away for four days and by day two I was really missing her. She was coming home today, so I put new sheets on the bed. I’ve been humming Carmen all day. I write songs, too, and I wrote one titled My Lady, My Woman, My Wife. I didn’t copy his song, but that title is close. Also, saw Marty Stewart a couple of weeks ago. Great! Didn’t know he was named after Marty Robbins. I remember Marty R. closing out The Oprey before they cut to Ernest Tubb’s record shop. I miss Marty!
I must agree with Ingrid Maier. Marty was and always be No. 1 in my book. The singers of today don't even come close to Marty. I watch his videos every night.
Sometimes I just daydream watching Marty-videos and have asked myself if it would be possible to meet him or to meet Elvis, who would I choose?? The answer is easy for me... I would just love and enjoy meeting and talking to Marty 💞💞💞. I also like Elvis, no question, but Marty touches my heart more. I think he was the greatest Country singer ever.
Marty changed his band lineup over time. Jack Pruett is one member that was there from the very beginning to the end. One of my favorites was Bill Martinez, Marty last drummer.
By giving credit to this great singer you take nothing away from others...ie...Jim Reeves, Charlie Pride, Charlie Rich, or women like Dolly, Patsy, Tammy, and even other genres. Frank Sinatra, Al Martino, Debbie Reynolds, Eddie Fisher, Ella, Bessie, Nat King Cole, Dinah Washington etc.... Thank you for posting, I like them all.
I'm hoping somebody can help me out here...I saw a video some time ago of a kid singing this song, I think it was on the grand ole opre show....I was absolutely amazing, but I haven't been able to find it since I last watched it...can't remember the kids name either...I'm hoping there is somebody out there who's seen the same video or at least knows what I'm talking about...Thanks

Marty Robbins is one of the best.To bad they don't right or sing these type of songs anymore.
Thankyou so much for your kind comments. Marty was unbelievably talented; not only a great singer with the most beautiful of voices, but also he had an outstanding songwriting ability. His stage performances were pretty dynamic and there'lll never be another like him.
Quite possibly the best song ever written. Bravo Marty Robbins....and all us women want to be Carmen now....sigh.....

Saw him in 'Honky Tonk Man' he died shortly after that. Great singer, writer and performer. Up with the best.
Hi! I'm Carmen 🤠🥰😆👍
Very nice song . Meaningful and I am happy because my name is Carmen
my favorite Marty song!
Love to watch him when he sings, so much expression in his face.
I must agree with Ingrid Maier. Marty was and always be No. 1 in my book. The singers of today don't even come close to Marty. I watch his videos every night.
cool - he changed the capo mid-song for the keychange from Db to D !
Man oh man! He started singing this and I realized, again, how much he and his son Ronnie (Marty Jr.) sound alike. Fantastic.
I love his falsetto.
As usual, he shows great talent in this song

I'm I. Love with him! Seriously. I listen to him day & night! But we love him and his not I've no more. His wife is so gorgeous too ! She's so lucky!
Marty changed his band lineup over time. Jack Pruett is one member that was there from the very beginning to the end. One of my favorites was Bill Martinez, Marty last drummer.

Gone too soon 😢
I agree up to a point, but I think both were so much more because both could sing any kind of song.
@Froggy19510
I happen to think that Elvis made many brilliant recordings during his career as did Marty, so just enjoy them both.
❤❤
My sister was named after this song.

My parents named me after this song.
Just been to a country and western gig and Trevor Cooper sang this very well. I wonder if i was named after this song?

Marti...such a better signer than Elvis! No argument.

Is there a better voice than Marty's? A better performer? The only one that comes close is Kris Kristofferson.
No comparison Khris isn't even top 500
