I suggest watching some of the older films. Back in the 40s and 50s films were about the story and connecting people with the characters. Sergeant York comes to mind. Of course that was based on a true story. It's a great story. Please watch the 1943 Lassie Come Home. If that doesn't stir an emotion in you I don't know what will. It is an excellent movie and it came from an excellent book by the same name. On Lassie's journey back home she encounters people from different walks of life so to speak. It's a touching story of a boy and his dog. It's about love and loyalty. One of my favorites.

I think you are on to something with the amount of time. Not only is it just an investment in raw time, but the longer you are with them the more you learn about them.

Very true. I absolutely love Vikings. When one of the main characters died, I felt lost and angry about it. Still to this day I miss the episodes with him in them which has been over a year (1.5 seasons). Its crazy how we focus on that. I think we put ourselves into that character we love so much and that bond is almost of ourselves in that sense. Crazy observation. It's nice to stop and think every once and a while lol
