Otters React to Anti-Gravity Water Drop Illusion

- Otters love to play in the water, so we bought a unique humidifier with water droplets flowing up.
Can water defy gravity? The fact is, with the LED flashing at a certain frequency, it creates the illusion of water droplets going upward. The video's flickering is due to the camera's frame rate.

【About Asian Small-clawed Otters】
First, otters are different from sea otters.
Sea otters spend most of their time in the water, but otters can live both on the ground and in water.
A few years ago, trafficking otters became a serious problem, and in 2019, CITES (Washington Convention) increased the classification of otters from CITESⅡ to CITES I, which banned international trade.
Having an otter as a pet is illegal in most countries. However, in Japan, otters can be traded, although it is limited to domestic breeds only.
Currently, severe restrictions are in place for buying and selling otters in Japan. For example, microchips need to be inserted in both babies and parents, and owners need a special permit. Circumstances of birth must also be reported in detail.
As a result, there is currently no buying and selling of baby otters in the market. There is a severe penalty for selling and buying otters with unknown birth origins without permits. This was effective in eliminating trafficking, and we don’t see otter trafficking on the news anymore.
Kotaro and Hana were both born in Japan and have permits.
It is so much work to have an otter as a pet. You need to be ready for more than its cuteness. They are loud, and they sometimes bite you. Food and water get very expensive, and you cannot keep otters in cages because they are active. Also, we never leave them at home. We always look after them closely like we do with human children, and our top priority is always them.
If you want to have an otter as a pet, you must be able to follow the law and devote your life to it. If you don’t have that resolve, you should never have one as a pet.
Thank you - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
I worry that if Kotaro drinks too much anti-gravity water, we could see our first ever flying otter and ultimately, space otter. He's really smart, so please at least show him Japan on a map so he can get home if he winds up in orbit.
The picture of Kota floating in space just made me grin. 🙂
that....or some body is going to be mopping piss off the ceiling.
Remember to make a space suit for him first :D
What is you STUPID?
It would be fun to send him up to otter space!
“It really is good to have friends” -A very special otter 🫶🏽
😭😭😭😭 Lyla
I came here to say this 💀
😢😢 ya lo estaba superando
the story has been yours all along, you just didnt know it😢
Oh damnt... 😢
Even if almost the whole video was about the anti-gravity water, the best part for me was when Kotaro turned on the shower by himself at 0:26! 😂
Jup, the Shower part was absolute Gold. 😆
They're smart 💝
Should've been Hana doing it. "Hana" is a tap, faucet or valve in Finnish.
they are unexpectedly intelligent
Kotaro is more intelligent than a velociraptor
Racoons and Otters, just fascinating critters and so damn smart. To all the Rockets and Lyla's out there.
w
Watching Kotaro lick the water stream is probably the cutest thing I’ll see for a very long time.
No animal that sounds like a squeaky toy can be seen as anything other than absolutely adorable 😂
Until they get near a baby seal…
anything otter
@@jacobmarley2417 or a female otter. 😳
They are adorable, but they belong in nature, they're not dogs
It simply must be impossible not to love otters.
It's quite remarkable how intelligent they are. The fact that he was amazed by the water flowing up means they understand a sense of natural order and can appropriate that there must be some mechanic that is making the water act against its nature and he even goes so far as to to try and rock it and knock it over to see how this would affect things.
Equally it's also remarkable how heckin' adorable these guy are. Though I would imagine these are not easy pets to have and has taken a lot of work and love to get these lil guts to this point.
I didn't even think about it like that! That honestly makes me love them even more though!
Lil guts
Hahahahaha...Surely the otter wrote it down in his notes.
im pretty sure the anti gravity water trick was due to the cameras shutter speed, so the otter would just see a normal stream of water.
@@spod715 Nope, it's the gimmick of the product. I've seen one IRL before and that's how it looks. I does use the same basic idea behind the trick using a strobe light.
If Kotaro drinks too much anti-gravity water he'll go to otter space
this channel feels like a safe zone from the horribleness of everything going on in the world
Shaun - yes, i agree with you
exectly
Absolutely agree with that
@@JuraMalopolska Polak? 😃 Pozdrawiam z Gdańska
I don't know about you, Shaun, but I sure am tired.
Take good care of yourself.
I admire Kotaro fascination with the anti gravity water movement. Meanwhile, I suspect Hana thinks the water is some sort of gems she can add to her juggling collection 😍
According to QI birds see at a different rate to humans, so watching a movie for a bird would be flickering images.
I have to wonder if otters eyes are closer to humans or birds, mammal might be a clue but I wonder if they are seeing the same thing we are seeing?
@@VinnySlouth You bring up a good point Vinny...
@@510Redneck 😃
@@VinnySlouth Yea, we have different eyes, but the light stay the same (Or almost... At least in a 1 round cycle way of light, it becomes kinda the same light, but that's an Einstein's detail). So, as en eye is basically a light detector, even if they see it differently, they should kinda have the same reaction as humans, after all, cuz we are all animals after all (in case you forgot it xD)
Very interesting video.

Seeing this after watching a specific movie a couple of days ago… “it really is nice to have friends”

Hits different after guardians of the galaxy 3
Seeing Hana deliberate and then decide to push it over made me laugh lol she’s too cute and silly
A new device to tickle the professor's curious mind. Let's study it properly and then write a paper about it. 😄
i knew the lylla comments were coming😭😭
I watch this and think of Lylla from GOTG3 😢😢
Lol. Rip
I always love how fascinated Kotaro gets with things. You can imagine him trying to make sense of it all in his head. Hana just looks at it and thinks I'll push it over haha. I want one of these for myself haha x
It's like a child checking out a new toy. They are so loved and well taken care of.😊😊
Hana was fascinated by the hole out of which the water was coming, actually.
They really are the most curious little things
He should be an otter scientist....!👨🎓
its all cute till you realize he's got murder on his mind. he wanted to crack that thing open, like a clam on his belly!
コタちゃんのシャワー捌きが年々上達していて、流石だなーって感心しちゃうよ🦦🦦💕
This is my Guardians of the Galaxy 3😭
I’m crying cause this video appeared in my tl right after watching guardians of the galaxy volume 3
3:04
i love how he's trying to drink the water from above
I do too. It demonstrates that Kotaro sees the illusion.
This is incredible I had no idea that Otters display this amount of intelligent curiosity and understanding, communication.....and so dextrous. I used to equate them to cats in intelligence but just this example shows so much more, higher thinking. The Otter understands that the water can't be coming from nowhere and checks under and around the base for the connection. It's a very abstract leap to make.
No wonder! Mustelids overall are a pretty curious bunch. For example, ferrets rank above cats, dogs and several small primate species when it comes to their problem solving skill. Weasels, mink, polecats (including ferrets) and otters display similar behaviour when faced with challenges or new situations. So they all probably have pretty neat problem solving skills that are aided by their immense curiosity.
I had no idea they were so adorable, or that people keep them as pets, but they look like a lot of work to keep entertained! Were those the noises they make?
@@Eagle_Owl2 Not an expert at all, but this might come from their general ability to move in tight spaces. Evaluating where you’re gonna go is crucial if you want to not get buried/stuck. Just my theory though.
@@s-c.. honestly, otters are awesome but they make terrible pets. Some otter species are also threatened by increasing animal trafficking because they become more popular as pets because they're so cute. But what you see in the Hana and Kotaro videos are exceptions. Most otters aren't kept well and many otters that have to live as pets become aggressive because their needs aren't met. And trust me, you don't want an aggressive otter. I had ferrets for nearly a decade and I worked in a wild animal sanctuary and mustelids have the nastiest bites. If you're interested in mustelids as pets, look for ferrets. They are at least domesticated since 2000-4000 years and very friendly if kept well. But even they are more complicated and especially very expensive pets (diet and vet).
@@goatyqt4553 could be a factor. They are also relentlessly stubborn, so they only turn away from a problem once it's solved. My ferrets sometimes tried for hours or days to reach a place they shouldn't access. That's why ferret-proofing a home is pretty difficult (I'm absolutely against caging ferrets). They are great family members though. Intelligent, social and cute. Though most other mustelids are not very social :D
But they're all intelligent and cute.
Seeing this made me think about Lylla from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.. absolutely love Lylla
Lylla ❤
😭😭😩😭😩😭😩😭😩
This is right up Professor Kotaro’s alley.!
Kotaro: best guy ever
PLS I JUST WATCHED GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 3 LAST WEEK

I love how Hana is trying to stop the water going up but since it's actual going down she keeps getting the top of her paw wet and is confused 🥹😂
Lylla ♥ ;-;
Lylla, is that you?
Kotaro certainly a water pokemon 😆
Professor Kotaro says a new water fountain ⛲😆 🦦 Hana says no it's a hand washing fountain. 🦦 ⛲
That's an interesting comment, examining how the two otters view the object through different functionality.
never thought watching otters 🦦 playing with water would being me such peace ☺️
Lylla 😭😭
😂 Your water bill must be HUGE - he's very clever being able to turn the shower on, even though you have an anti-Kotaro mechanism in place👍 Hana wasn't interested in the humidifier was she, it's very cool and would be nice in a bedroom.
I'm not sure why people are missing the fact that Hana was trying to examine the properties of this device herself. And as pointed out earlier, she got sprayed when Kotaro was playing with the shower hose and immediately left the tub. Her hatred of the hose may simply be that she does not like getting sprayed by water jets. You can see this if you pay attention to her behaviors.
water bill?! you have a bill for water!?!?!
@@UncleBoobs In many countries you have to pay a bill for utilities like electricity and water.
@@UncleBoobs Well it's kind hard to have a well for every building
