- A column in the Sun by Jeremy Clarkson, in which he expressed his 'hatred' of Meghan Markle, has become the most complained about article ever, according to the press regulator Ipso.

The piece, which has since been taken down, outlined in graphic terms the presenter's desire to see Meghan Markle publically humiliated, bringing tens of thousands of complaints and sparking outrage from MPs and even Clarkson's own daughter.

Regardless, it’s not okay for anyone to promote narcissistic, misogynistic behaviour…Oh wait…Prince Harry just wrote his book…where he openly shamed the elderly woman he lost his virginity to and referred to her as “treating him like a young stallion” with emphasis that she had relations with him behind a pub to humiliate her in the eyes of the public…furthermore, he promoted ableism as he mocked and had a laugh about making fun of a disabled girl named Patty where he didn’t do it for his enjoyment, but to “put a smile on my friends faces”. Furthermore Harry openly ridicules his own Step Mother Camilla in his audio book. That’s not very supportive of woman, and is extremely narcissistic. Now Meghan…if you reject Jeremy’s apology that’s fine. But to say you stand against Misogynistic, narcissistic, vulgar behaviour and then marry a man who up to this point in time is proud of his disgusting behaviour, and to throw shame on the royal family just only shows how manipulative you can be to the eyes of the public.
He should be given a knighthood for being so truthful

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you; do you mean, that the government *should* be able to veto articles they don't like? We have a free press, it's definitely NOT our gov's job to control &/or edit newspapers. We *can* say what we like, but there's no immunity to the consequences of words.
The gov/IPSO regulate press standards & can absolutely look at any story/column & decide if it broke any laws or standards.
If they uphold a complaint, the newspaper can be told to correct any misinformation, libel etc., print an apology & pay a fine.
I haven't read the article, but the bit about him lying in bed, picturing her being publicly attacked, is gross, & pretty fecking weird, TBH.
I doubt if his hatred is race related, but for many it is, & his words will validate & intensify their feelings.
The Sun pays him to be controversial, he *knows* he's a powerful voice, on powerful platforms. He lives in a very different world from ≥98% of Sun readers, he NEEDS to learn, why his words are powerful & dangerous. Many readers (including those on societal fringes, like incels, racists, misogynists, mentality ill etc) who agree with him, think he's speaking literally & may feel emboldened by his words.
I think he should apologise & The Sun should be fined.
I don't know enough about hate crimes to know if this could be chargeable, but I doubt it. I don't think The Sun would print a column (particularly his, about her), without lawyers checking it out.

Sorry to say this but why is it that we the British Citizens are being bombarded over a couple who are constantly lying about everything and why is it we have to pay attention this nonsignificant couple living in the USA who have done nothing meaningful for present day situation we are all living with such as energy and economic crisis we are facing in the UK. While I do think that people nowadays sometimes get "canceled" for no justifiable reason and that some things are blown out of proportion, this is not such a case.

The problem with the word "cancel" is that nowadays when a person is "cancelled", it means being made an outcast, a kind of stigmatization. What I meant is that he needs to be called out in this, not that there shouldn't be a conversation. As for possible repercussions, people have been fired for far less. I think he went far beyond what is socially acceptable.

Jeremy Clarkson is and always was despicable. One of the worst things about all this is the absolute silence coming from the Royal Family but then, of course the Queen Consort entertained both Clarkson and Piers Morgan on the 14th December, 2 men who have been so vocal against her daughter-in-law and Clarkson's column was published on the 16th December, the day after the final episodes of Harry and Megan was aired. I have been around for a very long time but I have rarely seen anything so abhorrent printed in a "newspaper" . It's on the record that Meghan Markle has been the subject of "'disgusting and very real' threats so it's also very dangerous and certainly incites hatred and possible violence.
