The plant sure looks a lot healthier since you gave it a good trim. I think for sure this was the best thing you could have done. It really should have a bigger pot like you mentioned. It's a beautiful plant (Scheffler) Nice job and stay safe 🥰
Being in Zone 6, I started moving my houseplants back inside yesterday but, hesitated to take my schefflera in because it doesnt look like it got rejuvenated outside as the other plants did. It never occurred to me that it might be root bound! So thank you for your demonstration and knowledge you have with that plant. Great video!
@deechiodo6738 yes it could benefit your plant to pull the pot and inspect the root system. I rinsed all the soil away completely getting rid of the old and using new after trimming alot of the long wispy roots. If you do, be sure to give it some nutrients using whatever fertilizer you choose. It will help against potential shock being unrooted. I'd love to hear back from you what you found and the route you take. Gentle lighting is important as well. Good luck with it!
@CandiYellowPeppers my one banana tree is doing well and many things have suffered here also mainly because of humidity and the long term rains we've had. It's just a thing, I suppose but will get better.
I know this is a little late to be saying but, is it possible to divide it after you prune the roots? It's gonna take a good strong serrated knife!!! I haven't done it with that particular plant before but I have with other plants and they did fine!!!
@@crickettjd thanks for the idea, however, the main roots were extremely thick and I probably would have damaged it. I did get a significant amount of the smaller roots off and all of the roots twined around the top of the pot. I feel pretty good about it and so far, no signs of shock or unhappiness. I have divided lots of other plants but none with roots that size. In the future, somewhere down the line I'll move it to a larger pot. Thanks for watching!

@AlmostaGreenAcre-zs5eu we'll definitely be safe. I can't wait for the water to drain around here, and mosquitoes are in sheets outside!

The weather has been extremely yucky. My banana trees are amazing. My garden suffered so much.
