Love your post, you remind me of me, we kinda look alike. Your older son reminds me of my son. He got a scholarship to Cornell, but had something bad that happened to him and had to leave school. He suffered with depression for almost 20 years. He is now going back to school and doing better. He is so much like your older son he is very shy, and smart.

The dutch pot looks very nice and very jamaican. I think it was special to see your son cooking a cornbeef dish.
Love the relationship between you, your brother and mom. I can tell for Bashir it was a real pleasure having you all visit.
I never heard a jamaican describe themselves as arawak indian. These were the people that lived in jamaican when Columbus arrived.

It was great seeing your mom and brother again on your visit there. I can see why your brother loves the country living, I don't care for the hustle and busy life of the city, even though I live in Missouri City, Tx , it's not so busy. Your videos are always entertaining!!! Cant wait for the next one.....

Mom is right my background on my dad's side is Latin American beginning at the Southern tip, on up into Central America, and the Caribbean. I see in my DNA a little Taino it seems in Puerto Rico. Yes, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Dominican Republic and I think also the Bahamas has Arawak, Taino and Carib Indigenous people. Many of us carry the admixtures of natives.

The inclines and wide open green space makes the neighborhood perfect for walking. I now see why Bashir likes the location, because it is really beautiful in the spring and summer months.
That's an elegant dress your mom has on. I thought she was part east Indian; I learned about the Arawak Indians in school when I was a child in Jamaica. Your dress, with that bold graphics, looks 1960s inspired.
Bully beef with cabbage rules! When I met my future husband, he had a skillet that I still use to this day, although the handle has falling off and I have newer skillets. We often tend to stick with the tried and true, down to the end.
I read that in pre-Industrial Europe, Africa and South America, people slept in two shifts and how it benefited them. There's also a simple breathing exercise that can help with falling sleep.
    Another wonderful Vlog, Habiba.

Yes Bashir is responsible for the trees and everything on his property not the city. He is responsible for snow removal and pays for garbage removal as well, not the town he resides.

Lovely vlog. Your Mom certainly looks like an Indian as does your Jamaican grandfather. Clarendon was filled with Indians in the good old days. They came as indentured servants and had housing near the sugar farms in various places in Jamaica. Jamaica is replete with indians from arawaks, tainos, etc. So, your Mom might be correct. My family/relatives are a mixture of indian & negroid. Am sure Bashir & your Mom will be missing the company. Hope your lungs are back to their full capacity. Anticipating the birthday vlog. Enjoy the midweek!
