A nice video of the Hetzer or better the Jagpanzer 38 having a lovely sound from an healthy engine! It seems very well restored but I do have a standing question: is it a very late production with the Czech made 75 mm cannon without the muzzle break or it is the Pzg. 13 that was delivered to Switzerland? The latter should have the treads on the cannon to fit an eventual muzzle break. Can anyone can help me?
This one is a post war Czech, the FHCAM keeps it in amazing working condition, as all the vehicles they have. Paul's Allen legacy... flyingheritage.org/Explore/The-Collection/Germany/Jagdpanzer-38(t)-(Hetzer).aspx
@@astrox9097 it is a post war Czech, but they really put it up to 2WW standard, they even got an original MG38 for the top. It was amazing talking with the lucky guy that drives and maintains it! So crowded inside that the cannon cannot be in the center, not enough room at the sides for the crew!
Fun fact : this tank was never named "Hetzer" during WWII - the name was a misunderstanding between the Czech company and the German Waffenamt - the "Hetzer" was the planned E10 tank (a successor for the JgdPz 38(t)), this one here was named "Panzerjäger 38(t)" - they should produce both and mixed up the names. So after the war, everyone called this one "Hetzer", because the real one was never build. This is the best example for german technology! No tigers, kingtigers, panthers and all the other Heavy Battle Tanks, this small lightweight, but heavy weaponed poisonous beast was the future of Speer's productionplans, no other tank
i love this thing, although it must be tough for the crews inside with so little visibility...but imo, as long as it is used as a defensive weapon, you dont need to worry about getting flanked by infrantry or other things as much. not sure whether the remote controlled mg34 has a scope or not, if it has a scope, it would be pretty effective...the japanese ha go tank front hull machine gun actually has a scope so the gunner could actually aim

@@gotthelfschwab1272 In comparison to cost efficency and effect it was the best german tank, even its orginal from czech. Of course it was not comparable in combat to a Tiger 1 or 2 but unlike them it was much more reliable and differently usable then them. Its nearly same discussion as about the Sherman tank: One normal sherman tank was of course no 1 to 1 match to a late typical European or Russian Tank and yes we germans loved to laugh abut it, but to admit: The sherman was standardized, so you could produce a ton of them and all its parts are relativly approved in quality and function. Its weight was less, so it was faster, better to transport, could drive over many more bridges and worse terrain. A Tiger in compare was more or less individually manufractured and costed extreme much money and time to produce and the qualities was different. Some parts was new, untested concepts also, often resulting in mechanical problems. Its heavy weight gived it limits in logicstics (especially bridges) and it often stuck in moody terrain, the fuel consumption was horrible. About production quantities, i talked with an WW2 Tiger 1 Driver and he said on my joke "You could shot 10 Shermans with it", he answered me: "Yes and the American will then just send 20 more and once i shot them they would have sended 200." Never forget the economy and the capacity behind the lines. And there i see the big favours of the Hetzer too: If they had set more efforts into building such ones, they had less strong tanks, but much more of them also, which they had been better in logicstics, costs and less of mechanical issues. In a battle against other tanks it was also not a bad tank either, it cannon was strong and the front armor and the security for the crew strong also. It was a small tank, so also no big target to aim on and the machine gun was operated by a crew member from the inside, so the one wouldnt be openly exposed. We could discuss many different tank types to the bone, there was many good ones, a Panther or Panzer 3 was also not bad, but in my opinion the Hetzer was definitely worth its cost and doing its job, what maked it all about a very sucessfull tank at all.
