I’ve loved this channel for years but that mic always kinda bothered me- why not use a directional or “shotgun” mic set back a bit so it’s not right up in there?? Just a thought tho

ok...
it's iconic, the vintage music era was special and it's a tribute... kinda matches the suspenders and occasional B&W scenes.
It's also the best mic that connects directly to an iphone, which is where I edit... so that I can edit anytime anywhere... simple... efficient...
perhaps... it's also plausible that the microphone enhances the perception of what's actually happening... recording cracks... (see the mic... "see" the cracks being recorded... enjoy them more?)idk
and it's so f'n authentic for me...
