I'd be lying if I dont admit that I'm hoping it will fail spectacularly. Just because of the hypocrisy from the PGA and their fans dissing LIV. The money, the format, team aspect and "beer league" accusations that was made against LIV is now taken to the max with this concept.

A hard pass from this golfer. Our club installed simulator golf, has leagues, and the last thing I want to watch is pro golfers playing an enhanced video game. My wife and I pick a course, usually a special place, play for an hour, have a drink and then order dinner and watch the next fools play. Everyone now has a simulator at home. I sometimes wish that today’s televised golf games, especially the PGA would be forced to watch the wide world of sports golf commentators. I’m so tired of opinions expressed by reading stats from a hidden screen. Learn the game, watch and react. In short, I for one will not waste my golf time watching TLG. As much as I dislike LIV, LIV has some pretty nice merchandise for their "team" concept. I now own a Jupiter Links ball marker set (shoulder shrug emoji)
When Milton Berle made a mistake on Texaco TV in the early 1950’s, everyone would witness the mistake. When Peter Finch was totally frustrated by an unplayable lie in the middle of the fairway on Solina GC . He dug out the ball and tried to hit it into the woods. Luckily George didn’t get taken out by the innocent errant way f the shot. I love real TV!

A month after this video, I’m interested to see your review on the first TGL match. I personally had no problem with it. I enjoyed it. I leaped off the couch a few times thinking a few chips would fall. All in all I enjoy the game of golf. This is more variety to a lovely game. I hope it does succeed for the sake of variety and I do believe the competition will pick up as the players get more comfortable in the league, as I said, it brings more variety to the game, Different perspective but it’s still the game We all love being played by the best players in the world.
I think TGL year 1 ratings will be way better than LIV's. But year 2 onward it's an open question and there's good reason to be skeptical this has staying power.
Probably can save the concept for the future when actual golf courses will no longer exist. Could have this in one studio, and Running Man in the one next door.
Sounds like the frequency of commercials will be horrible - like pro football, with well over 1/2 of the air time on commercial breaks. Also, too bad viewers need ESPN or ESPN+ to view the games. They should have at least started out on network TV to build a fan base. It's not worth paying to watch hours of commercials and very little golf.

Roll with it. It won't make traditional golf go away. In fact, it may bring a lot more fans to the game.
Went to TGL rehearsal today and here are my thoughts; the facility is far from being prime time ready, the atmosphere is a wanna be WM Phoenix Open with a DJ & MC (UA-cam Steel), poor fan viewing of player board for shot prep and the ground floor is not great to watch putting. Entry into the facility was a nightmare; parked at the local college (no backin parking & ladies only allowed 6” purse / satchel) - no forewarning. Skeptical at best how they plan to fill the stands at the ticket prices versus product offering. Hope they succeed but I’m not overly confident.
I have no interest in watching pro's hit golf balls into a screen, and they carry on about Liv golf. That's why Tiger and Rory were against them initially.
The big MGM stars couldn’t star in some big productions because they were committed to other productions. It’s probable that it’s not possible for the players to cross over.
I'm on a wait and see kinda stance on this. Tiger doesn't seem to want to embrace UA-cam other than his sponsorship commitments. More golf is more golf to me 🤙
MATT great comments as usual. These guys have zero character and personality, big fail . Why don't they fly to Aussie and play the Australian PGA and Open on the best courses in the world.
Be serious for a bit and think about it: Is there really anybody that like to watch others play video games knowing they won't get a chance to play themselves? And more golf related...is there anybody that like to go to a golf simulator to watch others hit balls knowing that they won't get an opportunity to hit balls themselves...? I for one are not at all interested in watching something like that on TV. Maybe at the stadium it can be a bit more fun because they will surely have entertainment for the people...and the drinks will flow in the stands...but that's it!
I think the first week will get very good ratings from curiosity then drop very badly. I think most pro golfers are in the zone when they compete. This will force them to engage in banter. Tiger and Rory may be very knowledgeable but they aren't entertaining, funny, or provocative. I think the buzz about it will be huge, but the ratings will flop. Time will tell.
Can't imagine this venture being successful, what are these investors thinking? There must be a alternative plan to the benefit of owning a franchise, possibly competing against LIV teams after the dust settles with the two leagues.
Feels like everything that people dislike about simulator golf and LIV golf combined. UA-cam golf is fun and fresh, the PGA is becoming more aloof and elitist and out of touch with Real golfers.
They Should have UA-cam golf team or 2. Like have Grant, Micah, and the Bryan Bro's on a team. Luke Kwon, Busta Jack and say the Pause King on another. Than viewership will spike! And let's get those Liv teams involved.
Is there anyone watching sim golf on youtube? Most sim golf videos are for training or gear review. I don't see Good Good, Rick Shields or Byran Bros getting a million views with sim golf. So why would this? It feels like it is designed and marketed by Gen X while being aimed at Gen Z. I think it fails badly. The market audience will feel it lacks authenticity and is too forced.
@mrshortgamepodcast yes that is another add on. I'm not paying for espn because I don't follow alot of other different sports. With all the commercials it's not fun to watch. UA-cam golfers grow there audiences and you get to like them. I just don't see them putting enough time into there personalities. With time constraints and commercials I just don't see it succeeding.

I’ll watch it. But … but don’t think I don’t see the hypocrisy of the PGA, Woods and McElroy. And the “gaming up” ie adding video game aspects to the event is forced and unnecessary. Also, most of the players they picked seem to me to be as exciting as watching paint dry. The team names are forced - associating the event and team to a city that none of the players have any link to. But … but … I’ll give it a try. I mean, what else am I going to do in the middle of winter when it’s too cold and the course is covered with snow.
Matt, I don't understand why you don't have more subscribers. WTF! Your shows are great. Very informative. I just don't get it. My prediction is that it will not be a big success.
It's sterile golf. I'm not interested in watching guys pretend to play golf, there are no climate factors, no insanely bad lies where it takes a miracle shot or its a dramatic fail.. But add a wind factor and let the fans control it would make it interesting......
Would love to hear some more silly unfounded conspiracy theories about how the TGL sabotaged the facility under construction. That was a doozy. People in Palm Beach County that are serious golfers are looking forward to the new league. I got my tickets!
If they create something they have but fans can play and then if they allow the best reg golf scramble teams in world as fans to compete against them while also playing against top YT golfers as scramble teams then they have a chance but without adding in a bunch of extras they will be stale.
I think people will watch once when they hear of it, and then quickly move on for a number of reasons. It will be a short lived novelty with lots of money thrown down the drain. dumb idea.
Hey, How about a nation wide handicap league. Like old A flight, B flight, C flight Give us simple Joes a chance at a year end championship? Far fetched, so was you gube. 0-5, 6-11, 12-17? Members only? Y'all have the brains, figure it out. I just watch Mr. Lang, and four hundred of his best friends set a world record, of some sort?
They're playing once a week. So does it just sit empty the other 6 days? Let UA-camrs and LIV rent it and you'll see some ratings for comparison. Otherwise what, bachelor parties, lol?
No interest in it yet, nor have I done any research. Sounds to me…it’s primarily a computer game with computer generated results. Who/What controls those results. One will always ask, “was that really a great shot, or enhanced for drama?”
I will watch, but will know quickly how I feel. When I heard that he said "F-UA-cam" and then here comes a ccompeting product, my suspicions went way up.

But … but … I’ll give it a try. I mean, what else am I going to do in the middle of winter when it’s too cold and the course is covered with snow.
PIF needs to throw the Liv Guys in there
RAHM- BROOKS- Bryson- PHIL
Get the PGA down to 32 teams of 10 players Each representing a city NFL
Matt, I don't understand why you don't have more subscribers. WTF! Your shows are great. Very informative. I just don't get it. My prediction is that it will not be a big success.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it all works.
It will be a short lived novelty with lots of money thrown down the drain. dumb idea.
I'm guessing my comment went way over people's heads. What I simply was saying was that this idea of competition golf sucks arse.
Hey,
How about a nation wide handicap league.
Like old A flight, B flight, C flight
Give us simple Joes a chance at a year end championship?
Far fetched, so was you gube.
0-5, 6-11, 12-17? Members only?
Y'all have the brains, figure it out.
I just watch Mr. Lang, and four hundred of his best friends set a world record, of some sort?
Will not watch!
I liked it…Unfortunately it was a blowout first match..
They're playing once a week. So does it just sit empty the other 6 days? Let UA-camrs and LIV rent it and you'll see some ratings for comparison. Otherwise what, bachelor parties, lol?
I just don't have the time to watch the golf league. It may be a good watch for some. I'm not against it. And let the chips fall where they may.
I'll watch it if its on UA-cam.... (and can skip through the adds)
It will end up at real golf courses after the sims are a dud.
No interest in it yet, nor have I done any research. Sounds to me…it’s primarily a computer game with computer generated results. Who/What controls those results. One will always ask, “was that really a great shot, or enhanced for drama?”
What's TGL??
A complete joke. You won’t find me turning in.
Feels like WWE to me (outcomes will not be real).
I think it is awesome.
It's going to be cool to see, but the people are going to be boring.
6 months tops
Jordan doesn’t have a team?😮
This is only happening purely because of Liv golf ⛳️ these guys are playing this new golf product thanks to Greg Norman but I won't be watching.
TGL is boring.
I will watch, but will know quickly how I feel. When I heard that he said "F-UA-cam" and then here comes a ccompeting product, my suspicions went way up.
I love golf content and I have zero want to watch this TGL
