- Here is a very unique experience of me taking the first metro in service for the day from Angrignon metro station on the Green Line of the Montreal Metro, going in the Honoré Beaugrand direction. This was on a Sunday morning at Angrignon metro station and I begin recording at approximately 5:00 AM Eastern Canadian Time. The first metro train of the day in service leaves Angrignon metro station at 5:30 AM.
The video opens up with a view of the platform and tracks of Angrignon metro station with an AZUR train - set number 65 - parked below with no power, as usually electrical current is off on the tracks during overnight hours.
A little bit later on, we can hear the announcement that electrical current is coming on for the tracks! This is similar to what we the electricity is restored to the train tracks after a service disruption involving a power cut.
A few minutes later, the metro station itself opens up but not the fare gates. You can then see a pretty fascinating moment as the fare gate application begins to load on the screens! This is a rare catch and most likely occurs every morning before service.
Finally, the fare gates are activated and we are able to enter the metro platform where indeed AZUR Set 65, the train we saw earlier in the video, is ready to board.
I then get on the train and take the train to Lionel-Groulx metro station where I finish the video.
Note that this is the way that every metro station opens up each day for service: First the metro station itself opens, then the fare gates open before the train arrives / departs, etc. The only difference is the fact that the first metro train of the day departs from terminus stations such as Angrignon.
I highly recommend that everyone try to take the first metro train in service for the day at least once, specifically at a terminus station and especially at Angrignon metro station where you can see right into the station and tracks below.

Sky it's Gaming in I'm a big fan of you and your STM and REM videos
Thanks a lot mate
Why don’t they have the old Mr63 metro back as it was
The MR-63 trains retired. I miss them too haha
😃🙂😀👍
Hi Pat, we're coming home from Switzerland to Canada today! If you spot me at the Montreal Airport on Nov 15, don't hesitate to say hello!
Haha I haven't been to the airport in awhile
@SkyOfTheUniverse Yeah, also we're back home
Could you do this at some of the other terminus stations? I think it would be cool to have a video of each to see.
Sure
Its can be cool with a mr 73
No cash fares at all anymore at Angrignon station?
They got rid of all cash transactions at ticket booths. If you want to use can now you have to use one of the ticket machines that accept cash payments or coins.
I sent you an email Tuesday morning but I don't know if I sent it to the right address. Talk about a small world. I was getting off the orange line at LG at 8:00 a.m. and saw a guy talking on his cell phone reading out the number of the car he just got off of. I know I shouldn't be listening in but I heard him say Patrick. I then heard him say sky of the universe. He was talking to you!
Yes I saw it! I am not sure what that was about. Perhaps he was filming a video and giving me a shout out
Bro did you private the video for like a day or something
Yeah I set it as a premiere
Hi
No welcome message? la stm vous souhaite la bienvenue a bord
You're right
"We dont want damn streetcars in our city"
