Great instructional video, looks easy enough to replace. The main question I have is how do you know if you have a bad printhead, or some other electronic problem? My 6830 was working great, and then a few days ago just dies - error message "there is a problem with the printhead error Oxc19a0041". While my printer is lightly used, it is aged and I want to make sure it's what I need and worth the investment for a new printhead and hope it fixes the problem vs. just sending this to the recycle heap and buying a new printer.

Great video and you thoroughly explained the change-out. I did it successfully, no more error code on printhead. But now I don't get any ink at all on any print including cleaning the printhead. New HP cartridges, but nothing, even after 3 cleanings of the printhead.

thank you for this! I have one color that refuses to print even though it is full. Will try this and do a deep clean of the print head.

That triangle arrow on carriage control ribbon has been confusing me. I took another HP apart, the 6978 and saw this question came up a few times in that video's comments. Well, here I thinks I got the answer! So pay attention to details Mr.303 , I think you messed it up. See at 6:28 you say to point towards front, but looking at it in beginning 2:58 IT POINTS REARWARD. But at least we get the clarity in this video to positively identify orientation.

It looks like I will have to do this... I bought this junker a couple of years ago, printed like 5 things, then let it sit for 2 years. I tried blasting contact cleaner into the ink ports- but to no avail. Im going to have to do a complete removal and soak the whole thing in Isopropl alcohol.

I also hope it works for you. Good luck with the job! I'm sure you'll do great. Let us know how that goes. I also recommend "LA's Totally Awesome" cleaner sold qt dollar stores and a lot of household supplies stores. It works very well. Mix half solution, half hot water for good and quick effect.

Love the Video. So easy to follow. Will this only work with a genuine HP printhead as we bought a compatible one and the printer is showing "There is a problem with the Printhead"

The aftermarket or "refurbished" cartridges shouldn't trigger that, but they may if it is faulty. Probably best to get a replacement ink.

I’m having same issue with an eBay bought printhead. Tried new cartridges and same issue. Have reinstalled head checking contacts are cleaned carefully. I can only assume it is faulty. Any other tips welcome!!

You put the strip backwards. If you look at your video in the beginning, the arrow was pointing away from you then you put the arrow pointing to you at the end I believe it’s backwards. Thanks for the info.

It can be many reasons. Ink can get anywhere inside printer. Try cleaning with paper towel or napkin and warm water.

I got a brand new printhead, but it keeps saying "There is a problem wit hthe printhead" This was a new replacement. I tool it apart and put it all back together very carefully but it keeps saying this. I also did a factory reset. What is wrong? Is the new replacement out of the packaging faulty?

Thank you, however this process is WAY, WAY beyond the ability of most. Additionally, The HP page said all one needs to do is "lifft the clip" ??

    • @303electronics

Hi. No, the "lift the clip" is for other models, the older HP printers which I respect. They were the best. Thise would be HP 6500, HP B209 B210 C309 C310 series printers. I don't know why they made them newer ones more complex.
