A great singer, especially in Mozart in which she was sublime. I was lucky to see her at Covent Garden in 1978 in 'Così fan tutte'.

Several years ago on the Metropolitan Opera intermission Opera Quiz, there was a voice identification question in which they played a recording of her singing Fiordiligi. After it was over, the commentator said, “if that isn’t perfection, I am happy to wait around for it until it comes.” And I couldn’t have put it better.
Saw her in the marriage of Figaro, and also singing the four last songs beautiful voice.
This is my first time hearing about her. This voice; what a treasure. She does things vocally I've never heard done better. Stunning delivery and perfect emotive placing. I will be listening to more of her works.
Great Mozart interpreter. i was lucky to see Margaret Price sing Mozart (Cosi fan tutte) under Klemperer in 1971.

Price soars high. The variety of feelings she evokes in this aria is stunning, and makes the intent of the text utterly credible. So much so that it becomes apparent to even the unaware listener, as if it was addressed to them personally. Other singers (JN, KtK etc, with the exception of TdB) remain limited to (and sometimes by) technical skill and beauty, in my humble opinion.
Impeccable technique. Would have preferred the tempo a little bit faster, but still love this! I could listen to her Mozart all day. Thank you for posting this.

I also give her credit (which shouldn't be necessary) for singing this sans music, as it should be. It stuns me to see "professional singers" looking at music on stands or worse yet, holding it while performing. But then nothing is as it was -- and it's not for the better.
***** I don't know how you define nonsense. You put the same comment up twice and I don't know (sorry, I'm obviously not as well versed as you in the classical singing scene) what in god's name you mean by several of today's singers who have more to offer than Price in expression (okay, got that) and stage (what the hell is "stage"?). I've been privileged to have been schooled by great teachers, musicians, and singers; I've been to many, many ,many concerts and recitals in the past, and NONE of the singers EVER used music. NONE. Great singers of the past would be shocked. Why don't we let actors carry their scripts out on stage so they never worry about going up on a line? Even the local yokel amateur acting group in my town hasn't done that yet. Why don't we allow concert pianists to trot out their music and set it right up there on the piano? Those may very well be in the works, who knows? Nothing would surprise me today. I just had a vision of Ponselle on the concert stage with a music stand with the music for "Casta Diva" on it, turning pages as she sings. I am laughing hysterically at the mere thought of it. Now I need a drink.
