Here are my Keys to Success for a Tree Swipe:
1. I mixed these paints to a medium-thin consistency, leaving a trace and a small mound when drizzled off of the stir stick.
2. Let your paints sit for several hours before using them to reduce the amount of air bubbles when you pour. As a general rule, the thicker the consistency of your paints, the longer it takes for the bubbles to rise through the paint and release. I usually let them sit (covered) for about 24 hours before using them.
3. A Tree Swipe has two layers: a background swipe and a composition swipe. To create the background, I put down a transparent dark violet / purple base, and also used it as the swipe color over the layered metallics. I used repurposed plastic swiping tools in several sizes to create some variation and randomness in the background. If you are going to tilt to level out the paint, this is when you should do it.
4. For the composition, I used a wider bladed palette knife to create the structure of the tree, and then added details and definition to the branches using progressively smaller tools.
5. Swiping must be done very slowly. If find it easiest to stand with one leg behind me so I can shift my weight and still get a smooth swipe.
6. Swiping creates a lot of air bubbles, so torch often.

Amsterdam Permanent Blue Violet
DecoArt Extreme Sheen Copper
DecoArt 24K Gold
Amsterdam Pearl White
Custom Pink: Amsterdam Persian Rose, Liquitex Basics Deep Violet, DecoArt 24 K Gold
Leftover blues and violets
My pouring medium is equal parts Floetrol, PVA Glue and Gloss Varnish. My paints were mixed 4 parts pouring medium to 1 part paint.
I used a 24"x36" gallery wrapped canvas.

In a horizontal position it is like a riverbank with a row of trees in Winter and their reflection in the river, which also has the reflected colours of a deep Winter sky.....

I did not read other comments so if this repeats someone's idea or thoughts sorry. While you were painting this sideways I kept seeing it becoming a water scene. The middle swipe would be the water line and then the branches would be individual trees and would be duplicated on each side of the water line as kind of like a reflection in the water. I think it would be really cool. I would love to see if you would try it out.

Same here and I think this painting works equally well as landscape or portrait, although it has a very definite bottom edge in portrait orientation.

I would name that - "The Tree of Serenity!" It pops and brings calm to the uneasy!
I "visit" videos, but rarely stay. When I come back to watch it again, that's when I know you have stirred something deep wthin. Thank you. So amazing that it will work hung vertically or horizontally. I am now a subscriber.
So creative, when you had the purple strip down the picture I immediately saw this as a cty s ape with the lights of the city in silhouette. Then invert the picture and I could see embers of a once vibrant woodlands smoldering with the lake mirroring in the foreground. And then turn it vertically and you see the trunk of a large tree.
So cool!

Wowwie! That is beautiful! I like it for the reasons you mentioned. The copper and gold looks like they are illuminating from behind, both the trunk and branches.
I too, liked only the swipe and liked it as was, glowed like the Aurora Borialis. If left like that then maybe add a "tree line" in the center, and possibly tree shadows seen below in the snow on the other half.

Love the way that you can hang this pour Either horizontal or vertical.
Horizontal as a reflection & Vertical As a large old tree.
Best usage of a pour I have seen so far in my looking at videos In the last six months to a year.

I just knew you were going to continue and add some cypress knees at the base and Spanish moss from the branches. It so resembles a singular cypress on Caddo Lake in East Texas.
