I get the point of this film is to teach about religious tolerance and all that. But why the tell is getting elected to be a politician so linked to religiosity in America? I don't want to hear about a candidates opinion on Jesus or Sin, I want to hear about transport policy, business policy, stance on development vs. the environment. *Actual* policy issues. The number of things a politician does which have anything to do with religion is miniscule.
Because the politician in the movie is a depiction of modern conservatives. That IS how they talk. It's never about getting people INTO the church it's about running everyone they don't like out. It's about kicking out the imperfect and the lost. It's not about the love of Christ but the hammer of the Law. My whole life I've never felt welcome inside a church because I wasn't like the people there.,I liked to read fantasy and science fiction. I liked cartoons, video games and comic books. I was shunned and "cast out" because I wasn't what they thought I should be. I've BEEN there and this movie is showing a very familiar and very ugly side to religion.
FAITH however is an altogether different thing; and it's faith that allows us to love unconditionally and to love the unlovable. If we don't then who will?

I agree with you Merry Machiavelli, religion has no place in politics. But just consider that many people in the audience that this film will probably appeal to doesn't share our POV. Can't tackle all the issues in one piece. Too many ideas they don't agree with and they'll dismiss the whole thing. One thing at a time.

It is wonderful to see a trailer for a film with a positive message. This has to be one of the first faith-based films I have seen that is inclusive. I hope this comes out on dvd and blu ray soon because I am totally going to buy it as soon as it does. In this current social climate, this film is not only relevant but NECESSARY. The film's message is an important one. I hope that this film will be ALL people closer to God or some kind of faith. Too often, people try to alienate others from spirituality. God's love is unconditional whether your straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, whether you wear underwear outside your clothes, pick your nose in public, burp without excusing yourself. No matter who you are God's love for you is UNCONDITIONAL. Do not listen to the vitriol hate mongers spew at you. Let God's voice be the only one you hear.

Movie looks amazing because its about spreading hope and it has a positive message. I dont understand why some people would rather spread their hatred and fear and cause more harm to others. I'm really excited for this film! Yes, the Bible does say things against immoral people's ACTIONS, but it also says to be compassionate and loving toward others who have lost their way, it doesn't say to be a total jerk and kill people who are different or make mistakes. We all fall short sometimes or have moments of weakness. No one is perfect. I'm a Christian myself, and it's great to see a trailer for a film telling Bible-thumpers to tone it down and not misinterpreting the Word of God and use it over people as leverage.

You obviously haven't read the bibble. It's full of hate and violence and it even condones slavery. It also says that you should kill your male enemies and take their wives and female children to use as breeding stock. No it doesn't say that last part exactly that way but it does say that males should be killed and females kept for wives

I am really curious about this movie. If this goes the route that I am praying that it does, I will be thoroughly blown away. Oh I pray this goes in the direction that I believe it will. If it does, it will be the first Christian movie I've seen to do so. I don't condone homosexuality or the other branches of it in any way, but the people who choose that life are also God's children. Oh, I'm really praying that this movie portrays the right message. A message the expresses God's love. His love does not condone our sin nor is accepting of it, but his love has him meet us where we are in our life and shows that we can come to him with anything. This is what many of God's followers forget. Please let the message portrayed here speak honestly.

It's not avalibe to the public yet, it was only shown in a few theaters in February.
My guess is, the company behind the movie is trying to get another chance to release the movie. Sucks but most likely, you'll be able to see it sometime in the future. For those that has seen it on rotten tomatoes, it's got low reviews. Take that with a grain of salt as most Christian movies get low scores.

Hi! Straight people totally can help. They can help. I haven't seen this film, but just going off the trailer: nice brave kid stands up to homophobic bigots - good for him.
Here's the thing, though: if he's gay that action is self-defence, it's fuelled by a desire not to get seriously hurt (homophobic bullying, abuse, corrective rape, conversion therapy, etc) ... but if he's straight, it's a "I have to help those who can't defend themselves" complex. In real life that would be fine, and still very brave of him. But in a film, it's giving out the message that LGBT+ people need white, straight, male saviours, like we can't defend ourselves and no positive change can come from anything but the moral handouts of the privileged majority. You get me?
