  • On 7/14/21 a tornado outbreak struck parts of Central and Eastern Iowa. The first tornado touched down by the town of Stanhope and morphed into a rope, then a stovepipe, then an elephant trunk, and finally back into a rope. Towards the end of the tornado's lifecycle, it turned into a drillbit tornado with strong motion. Thankfully this tornado did NOT impact any houses at peak intensity. Then later on I intercepted a rain-wrapped tornado that damaged the town of Dysart, IA.

      @Autistic Engineer I was unfortunate enough to be in the tornado last year in spartanburg sc, as I was sitting in the parking lot at an ingles grocery store when it came by, and I know the exact thing you are talking about, it was raining pretty hard and you couldn't see much then all of a sudden, the hair on the back of my neck stood up, the air felt thick, and it seemed as if the sky was a greenish brown color, then all hell broke loose, throwing actual shopping cart corrals around ( what you put your carts in outside), which is what hit my car and did a few thousand in damage. Thankfully no one was seriously injured, but I will never forget that experience, it scared the hell out of me.

    I was at summer camp when these tornados were coming down. It was the night of our "transfiguration ball" aka our dance party, everyone was inside and the music was pumping so loud so that none of the little kids would hear the rain or wind. We didn't want the kids to know about the tornados but we weren't able to send them to bed, because they would have to go outside to get to their dorms. So, we partied into the night until it was safe for them to leave. Us older kids knew about what was happening and it was kind of creepy, it went from pretty sunset to completely black as the storm clouds rolled in and the wind picked up, and we just tried to pretend that nothing was happening. It was summer camp, there were no tornado shelters out there. Luckily all we got was some heavy rain and some decent wind, no damage to anything. Still a scary experience, and the little kids still have no idea of what actually happened.

I remember back in the middle summer of 2018 it was a tornado that touched down here in the Chicago area on South Chicago.. The sirens were constantly going off my daughter had to go too work downtown Chicago. We were on lakeshore drive we both could see the funnel clouds and was scared to death. The weather alert were going off over the phones I just was nervous out of my mind. I did make it to get her too work I have never driven so fast on lakeshore drive to get back home. Never ever again would I take that chance she just kept saying " Mom I can't call off." Please people don't mess with mother nature it had all the rain, hail, and winds to go with it I turned on the TV and that's how I found out it had touched down in South Chicago. From where we lived it would have only taken seconds to move in our direction never again...

    Nice vortex breakdown bubble with single suction vortex action. With the long ropey funnel and the vortex breakdown bubble it looks like the Jarrell Tx tornado in the early stage before it blew up into a wedge

    Don’t let it all go to your head. You did capture the Big Picture. I can say that only 9:06 into it, and I had to comment. Nice work, and way to be there for that one.

    So I live in Iowa and the reason I didn’t know about this is cause I was on vacation with my family in New Jersey for a week so I’m surprised I finally see a tornado for the first time in the whole 11 years of my life/time I’ve been in Iowa

    Wow near the end of the vid the debris cloud is actually green from all the corn. Nice job! We came from WY and missed that by 10 mins ugh but got real close to the one in Dysart.

      Wow I’m sorry that really stings. You still did a great job getting on the Dysart tornado! It’s kinda scary knowing there was a big tornado just lurking in there.

    When it "skipped over the house" that was some paranormal stuff 😳

      It's pretty common for tornadoes to jump around like that which is why you always have to be on alert, it could be 100 yards in front of you one second and then BAM right ontop of you the next.

      @DavidStirm 3 роки тому

      @@AFellowDoktuh I have heard people feel like tornadoes "see" them the way they do that. Like why the 50 feet the house takes up? Crazy it was going strong it was in there yard! By acting in the manner you describe it's almost like it makes choices 😳

      @@DavidStirm really you just gotta break down the science behind why tornadoes jump around. A vortex which is what a tornado is has no mind of it's own, it's really just a swirling mass of chaos and chaos has no direction and can't be predicted to put it lightly.

      @@AFellowDoktuh you really think I believe tornadoes have a mind of there own? I wouldn't think so but then again you or I do not know that. Maybe there's more behind tornadoes that you can understand or do you clam to be all knowing. You definitely sucked all the excitement out of it for sure.
