On a local morning radio show (KSSK) earlier this week, one of the hosts noted that Iam was the only contestant this season where the crowd kept calling his name after each live performance. That’s a testament to his storytelling ability. I wonder if he realizes just how much of an impact his journey has had, not just locally, but worldwide.
Knew it from the moment I heard him sing... he was gonna win it. No doubt.

Hey Iam, you stole my heart from your first audition on American Idol and I’ve been thinking what I wanted to say to you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul for coming into my life. I know that God had our paths meet for a reason. I’m a 67 year young white, disabled, housebound widow. We are alike in that we’ve lost our love ones thru the terrible thing like organ failure. My husband was a very sweet, kind, sensitive man like yourself but stood 6’2”, 200 lbs and knew his way around. He got diabetes from agent orange from the Vietnam War when he was 21. We got married, each our second marriage, in Jamaica in 2000. I loved him so much and watched him decline over the three years he was on dialysis. We were together 24 hours a day for most of our marriage and it was wonderful, he was my best friend. He passed away 8 years ago and I still see him and hear him like he’s here in the same room. So you see your singing spoke to me from day one. I suffer from a lot of pain due to a disease canned CMT a neurological disorder and restless legs disease and others on top of that. I’m housebound most of the time in my bedroom that I call my little slice of heaven. So what do I get to do- what tv and color- therapeutic. Now every morning for a couple hour and every night for a couple hours I get to watch and listen to your voice and your music and you take my pain away. Do you really have any idea what you can do for the people of the world and why God picked you to do it? You can help millions of suffering people from pain, depression, addiction everything. I’m so proud of you and what you have accomplished. Do you really have a clue how lucky you are to have had a father like Rodney and have a mother like Lily. My grandmothers name was Lily. In one of your videos you talked about playing your music when you were younger and your parents dancing and kissing. Do you know how lucky you are to have had parents that loved each other enough to still be together loving each other after all those year. And how lucky to have a father that took so much time with his little boy and guided him to become a idol to heal people of the world. Your father definitely dreamed of your future. And your sweet, beautiful, loving mother. Please tell her thank you for sharing her son with me and the world. And to watch her support you all the way was so joyful. So now that I’ve said that I’ve watched every performance of you singing and fell more in love with you with each song. I have never watched much utube but you changed all of that. As I was watching you I caught a utube reaction site called the The World Upside Right. He’s great and is the only reaction person that did you justice and I should know because I watched them ALL. Please give him a shout out and watch his videos about you. You’ll love him. So you alone have brought beautiful music from all people to me. I listened to Cat Sevens when I was 16. And love Bonnie Rhett, and all the songs you sang. Congratulations for being the first Hawaii winner and bringing the Hawaii, Polynesian vibe and beat to a world that needed a new awakening. Thank you for being there when I need a voice sharing Gods s glory that takes my pain away. Please give your mother a hug and kiss for me. I wish I could visit with you and just hang out. I live in North Carolina, a long way off but just a click and we are in the same room. I thank God for sending you to the world and me. Love this song! I'm from Hawaii and super proud of what he managed to accomplish during his run on American Idol.
To all the haters of Iam, if you all say that "oh we will probably forget him in two months", let me tell you all something, All of Hawaii, Samoa, Tonga and the rest of Polynesia will still remember him and support him! So what the world will lose is our gain in the end. You can say all you like about him, but he is making a name for himself while you all are pretty much sitting behind generic profile photos and phone screens. So Im guessing you all are miserable with your lives. Iam has stated that he is fine with people who doesn't like his music anyway so he will pretty much kill you with kindness.

I would just love to meet and talk with him..I lost my father 25 years ago and go to the grave 4 times a year to clean it up, put flowers, play his music...just sit there about 2 hours and enjoy my time with him..I can't tell you how much I feel when I do that...

Iam Tongi ,has a great heart and a soulfull vocal .Iam said he grew up in classic songs that why we love him .I can't say enough about his sweethearts mom and family .I only wish I had his family I am only limited in to my brother and mom as my dad died a few years back to we really never got along untill I started singing country it was then he followed me and he was laughing and having fun .so I can relate to u Iam Tongi u stay strong and stay proud keep doing what u do and don't look back ,ur dad is proud of u I can tell u this he was with u all along he never left u

I would love to move to that Native land and live the culture they share. Such a shame they are getting “priced out of paradise” like Iam said in his first audition… That land should be preserved for the entire duration of Earths existence. So sad to think the Natives are losing their land to millionaires and billionaires who want to build cities… the greed is truly heartbreaking and sickening.

By far the best performance ( audible ) performance was tongi...hands down, you could feel the emotion in his voice.
Visual wise...not so much...
If the purpose of this reality series is to judge someone soley based off looks., then tongi wouldn't have won...but in my opinion...tongi won hands down.

If this dude was the best singer on the show, I got some land underwater I love for America to buy. I don't know how but the voice does a much better job with better singers of getting diversity and correct most of the time they'll have their country runs or r&B runs there. Top 40 runs but somebody like this. That voice is good but it would never win the shoulder voice and back in the day with Simon, Randy and Paula and my age group voting it wouldn't one idle back then. Either today's folders get up all about emotion, not about talent
