I personally prefer safety over getting a few more diamonds, so strip mining at Y=-58 with a 3 block gap is how I do it. I also get loads of stone with which to build in the process. That being said, raiding end cities is definitely good as well as you should count all the gear you find as resources you didn't need to mine.
I've got to admit, I played alot of Minecraft as a teen, but i'm now a 27 year old father of 2, and both my kids are now hammering Minecraft. So I turned to YT for, lets say, a "refresher course" and this is the video I stumbled upon. Great watch. Cheers 👍
Cubicmetre's infinibore is the single best mining method and its not even close. However, this machine is hella expensive and super late game when diamonds are just bragging points.
Although strip mining isn’t as good, it’s super easy early game and you don’t need powerful armor and definitely my main choice for hardcore mode as how much safer it is, I play on bedrock so water caves don’t work as well as you can’t use doors..
Here are my personal rankings (for the average player) and some extra tips not in the video: Best methods: #1. Trading: This is 100% the best and easiest way of getting diamond gear. Villagers do not directly trade emeralds for diamonds, but a toolsmith can trade all tool types, an armorer will trade all armor pieces, and a weaponsmith will trade axes and swords. Note that the tools that a toolsmith trades may not be the one you are looking for, so you might need a couple. If you have an iron farm, all these villagers will also accept iron for emeralds. You can also get a fletcher to sell sticks if you have access to preferably large spruce trees or get a couple of masons to trade clay balls if you have access to a lush cave. A raid farm is by far the best way to get emeralds. You should build a simple villager breeder design (any works tbh) and a simple iron farm (I recommend ianxofour's design) not only to get gear, but also to be set for long term as villagers can also sell you food, enchanted books and a bunch of other stuff. You will need to mine diamonds to craft armor trims, netherite upgrade templates, enchanting tables, jukeboxes, and diamond blocks, and I recommend caving for that. #2 Cave Exploration: This is my preferred method for just getting diamonds since the new caves are so big. Typically if you can just fly around and if you see a big cave opening it will lead to a big cave that usually goes to diamond level. If you use fullbright + outlined ores texture pack you can spot diamonds really easily. Additionally, if you go into caves in mountain biomes there's a good chance there's a skulk biome. You can get pretty good loot in ancient cities (no diamonds tho) but just beware of the warden. Other Viable methods: #3 Looting end cities: This is a good method since having an elytra makes it much easier. It is not mentioned in the video, but there are only 3 types of rooms that loot can spawn. 1st is the end ship. 2ns is the very wide and flat room. 3rd one is the room that's 3 stories tall. This does not include the bottommost room in an end city, which always has 3 floors but no loot. (If you still don't understand you can check the wiki: minecraft.wiki/w/End_City ) If you have an elytra, you can target those rooms and mine into the wall, grab the chests and get out. #4 Water caving: I never tried this, but if you do, make sure to bring doors as it gives an air pocket. I would not go out of my way specifically looking for water caves, but if you come across one while regularly caving, it's probably worth going for it. #5 Tunnel bore: I've never built one, but from what I can tell, gravel and lava will absolutely screw you over. It is tileable, so it could be feasible on a large scale. The absolute fastest way to get diamonds would to build an even more OP version of a tunnel bore called the infinibore (by cubicmeter). That's for very very late game though, and you definitely shouldn't build one unless you want shulkers and shulkers of diamonds. #6 Craw mining: I would not recommend this if you have a higher level efficiency pick because you craw so slowly that it probably isn't even worth it. Swift sneak might make it better, but if you are that far into the game you probably don't need to craw mine. This is pretty good if you are in the early game and don't want to deal with mobs in the caves. #7 & 8 The 2 strip mining methods: I wouldn't recommend this in 1.20 because the big caves make caving much better. You can place torches if you want, but if you use fullbright or have dynamic lighting + holding a light source off hand, you should be able to see the ores. Mobs could spawn but you can just kill them. If you build any farms, you could just have the afk spot high enough so that mobs can't spawn in your mineshafts. If you do decide to strip mine, the diagonal mining is probably the best method of the 2. Non-viable methods: #9 Looting regular structures: If you stumble across a structure, then by all means loot it. I would not recommend exploring structures just for diamonds, unless you are looting end cities. #10 Fossil mining: I never heard of this method as a way to get diamonds, and honestly I only found a fossil once. If you're gonna use chunkbase, you could just use it to find other structures for diamonds (end cities mainly) #11 Archaeology: I would not recommend this method at all. The diamonds are a nice bonus to archeology but its way too slow.
No.1How did u write this entire thing and thanks cuz that's a lot of information(even Wikipedia lmao) No.2 Idk if u hate that type of getting diamonds but...How can u put fossil mining in 10,ofc there are other methods, but this one for me should be at least in 4-5 cuz in early game you can get a full diamond armor in 2-3 fossils and also the tools if u are lucky.
This was a really helpful video, thanks! My favourite methods are caving and loot chests, since I find exploring caves and structures exciting. Plus it feels really rewarding to get diamonds after exploring and fighting of mobs, apposed to just making a raid farm and getting tons of diamonds that way
I just died in a fucking tunnel making a zombie spawner xp farm and lost my only two diamond axes. Water rushed in while digging up and i had no way out an drowned. I am so fucking mad.
15 diamonds an hour isn’t enough I remember when getting 5 diamonds on a 3 hour mining session was a crazy achievement now you talking about 450 diamonds an hour that just sounds crazy that means when caving you mine more than 6 diamond per minute.
Diamonds also spawn larger veins when not exposed to air Edit: this would on a technicality make aquifer caves slightly better due to bigger veins but at that point its going to be a bit of luck
When I'm not looking specifically for diamonds, maybe just clearing a large area, I tend to find lots of ores when I'm moss block mining. Dig a little hole, place a moss block, bone meal the heck out of a large area, then clear it all with a hoe (diamond with unbreaking III).
Well, I usually combine strip mining and cave exploration, because it's both safe and efficient. So, if you mine at the 57 Y level, all the caves you find will be the best! Cause they aren't way too big and usually they're lighted with lava, so bad mobs mostly never spawn, and most importantly, they're the deepest. So that means you don't need decent armor or/and enchantmens, which is amazing for mid game as well.
all you need to underwater mine is 1 magma block and a pick. you bring it with you and place for oxygen. crouch on top and pick it up. you can spend all day underwater. it is the best
Tip: do not throw splash potion downward or directly at ur feet as it decreases the time duration of the potion, you should throw it upward and should land in ur head
I think using glowing ores and world maps to find structures is cheating. Maybe you could redo the cave exploration test without glowing ores to see the effects. Did you include the build time of the machines or just the mining in one hour with them? Thank you so much for the testing :)
hi! i just did some research with the machines and different designs, and i found building them is actually pretty easy once you do it a few times. the good thing about the machine is that they're designed to be infinitely expandable and have multiple repeating modules connected to a single button, so you can clear out hundreds of blocks a second. the time spent building them is extremely miniscule compared to its output. he got 400+ with a single module, imagine if you made just 4? look at DocMCs tunnel bore from hermitcraft 9, its insanely powerful, so powerful he did all his redstone wiring for the season on diamond ore lol i tried a few different designs and i had difficulty with all of them except one: The Master Miner's 1.20.4 tunnel bore.
Quick correction! 11th methode: traiding is actualy WRONG! You can get cheep enchanted diamond armor and tools, however this doesn't include DIAMONDS them selfs! You can only trade diamonds for emeralds but not the other way round! Still, this isn't bad video. I like all differant strategies and some of them are new to me
Are we not gonna talk about how copper made steel extinct by taking over most of their spawn points, forcing new players to go deepslate mining with just leather armor, and stone tools. (I can’t find any videos for this, hope he’ll make one…)
If u mean iron it now spawns more in the top areas of mountains just go mine out some of a mountain and u will get a ton. But best bet is to build an iron farm
your video is wrong i could say alot why but i keep my ways mostly secret but lets say 1.5 stacks diamond blocks within 3 hours wich makes my strat up to half a stack diamond blocks an hour. its an strip mining way so outbeat cave exploring because of the cave Serch downtime. so only the tunnel drill is a bit faster but there you have lava sea downtimes. wich makes my strat with at least 350 diamonds ore an hour sometimes even up to 500 diamond ores
Quick question about my fortune pickaxe, I have level 3, iron, gold, redstone, coal are dropping more than one, but with diamonds I did get everytime only one and I have already 30 Diamonds, did they nerf it or have I just very bad luck? I did try it with my iron and diamond pickage with luck 3 with no difference.
