You guys talk about Marcus Smart’s D but no one talk about his defensive play calling. You see Smart directing his teammates about what play Kyrie or Nets are going to do while getting ready playing defense. That’s one reason why I say Smart is a different defender from other DPOY candidates. Bridges, Rudy and Jrue they all don’t do that.

It's rare you see a player constantly keep his teammates in the proper positions defensively. He's a true point guard on offense AND DEFENSE.
Ofc John did not show up. If we lost he woulda been talking our ears off for an hour indirectly saying different versions of "See guys, I told you so. We need Rob back🤪🤪🤪"

Tatum was well defended by the Nets. They gave him no space. Despite the media’s “Brooklyn can’t play D” they were swarming much the way the Celtics were. Really, the stars on both teams did not have it easy. Pritchard and Grant helped them out. Again, Pritchard looked good on defense and is decent in tHe paint
Nets defense has been low key good- not as good as the Celtics defense but it has been good. Celtics defense just goes to another level cause of guys like smart, and brown and Al ,
They did better defensively yesterday than the C’s for majority of the game. Mostly were leading in blocks and rebounds and steals were equal all game. Definitely a fun series
Teams like brooklyn just don’t bother playing proper defense in the regular season imo.
The wildcard will be the officiating moving forward. The refs have let them play the game the way it was meant to be played. That will likely change in Brooklyn and if so the Nets only need to steal one game.

Nahhh stop Sherrod They are great but they shall be EXCELLENT when they move Robert to the 4 and go get a DeAndre Ayton body type Rim Runner to be mentored by AL before he leaves. NOT even AD/ Embiid/ Giannis could get pass that defense. This Year is a build year to see where they are at in needing to adding improvements like in that Front Court to be more than Conference Domination! They get to the Finals its a cherry on top the cake for they would exceeding expectations. Theis should be a second unit leader at the 4 after this season with Grant a way better version of Semi O. as he improved his offense this year!

This is what a team looks like when you remove a broken Kemba (sorry, great guy), Fournier playing zero defense and either giving you 25 or 0 points, and Stevens giving guys like Carson Edwards and Romeo Langford "development minutes" i.e. 5 minutes once in awhile that doesn't improve them but does eat into other player's minutes. One nearly invisible Derrick White (though he has a huge impact) is worth 10 Kembas. Also, I love that nobody on this team is super tiny except the one guy (PP) whose skill set on offense means his size matters very little. Anybody else not miss the occasional Kemba, Edwards, Waters 3 guys under 6 feet lineup? Me neither.

When I saw KD dripping with sweat at free throw line in 1st quarter, I knew he was going to have a tough night.
He looked so gassed at Half time... no order Team has made him work so hard to buy a bucket much less have to work so hard on the Defensive end. At least my guy playing D BUT Celtics my Favorite Team!!!

@@KurtyAnderson ya he was injured and missed some games but since he's been back in the beginning of March he's played almost every minute of every game. He played extremely hard, because he had to in order keep the team afloat and in the playoffs.

Yes, with respect to figuring out Kyrie's performance in game 2, Marcus Smart definitely affected Kyrie's game. However, I suspect that observing the Ramadan practice of fasting before the game may have affected Kyrie's energy level & focus. After taking a break & coming back from the locker room during the game (I forget which half it was), Kyrie came back to the bench & sat on the floor and ate a banana & some other fruit, probably to give him a sugar boost. I mean I could be totally wrong & only Kyrie knows the answer, but it's a possibility. Nevertheless, & despite all of that, INSANELY AWESOME effort by the C's in the 2nd half to come back from 17 down, tie it up in the 4th and then steadily pull away. Between the perfect last play execution in game 1 when all the chips were on the line for that game, and how they persevered and didn't stop fighting, scratching & clawing their way back, AND THEN to pull away late in the game & not collapse in the final moments of the game, the C's are showing & proving to me more and more that they are a championship caliber team. Because these are the types of things that NBA championship teams do. We'll see if it plays out that way. Who knows what'll happen and if they'll get to 16 wins in the post-season, but I'm not betting against them. GO C'S!!!!
