- The B 990 is a sewing and embroidery machine model of superlatives. But what exactly are the differences to other top-of-the-line machines from BERNINA, such as the B 880 PLUS and the B 790 PRO? And are there perhaps also similarities?

Oh my GOODNESS! This machine is amazing and your explanation/demonstrations are wonderful. With each video I watch, I learn something new. In this video, I learned about distortions! I have a 790 Pro and 880 Plus and never knew about that feature. My only question is - are the magnifying lenses available for this machine?

Hello!! Love this video! I am waiting on my 990 here in the UK and each time I see one of these videos, I get more and more excited. May I ask what the distortion feature is?? I tried to google it but didn't find anything. I've never come across this before in my sewing journey. Thanks!!
Dear happytraveller8953, you are going to love the B 990, it will be worth the wait. Distortion is a fun feature which enables you to skew a decorative stitch vertically and horizontally to create a totally different stitch. The creative possibilities are endless with the BERNINA 990.

Thanks for asking. Yes, this is true for BQM files in embroidery and for the Jumbo Stitch feature in sewing mode.
So much to learn great there are going to be virtual classes.
On the one hand, we will be publishing a whole series of instructional videos here on UA-cam, and on the other, our sales partners around the world will be offering courses, both virtual and on-site. In the USA, for example, customers will have access to content on an online platform called the BERNINA Skill Hub. The best way to find out more is to contact your BERNINA dealer. In addition, there is of course a very comprehensive manual, which is included with the machines in printed form, but can also be accessed via the machine screen.

Thanks for your feedback. This quilt has been created specially for the launch of the B 990 and with the B 990. Information on how to sew, quilt and embroider it using the B 990 features will be shared with customers later this year.

The new bigger footprint means I must sell off the old 880 desk because the lift platform is inches too small to lower the 990 and install a new replacement acrylic table. I have purchased a different thirdparty quilt foot to do ruler work with BSR behind the foot unimpeded. Only 4 point morphing is a new feature for my consideration if spending 15,000$canadian dollars plus taxes to upgrade. Wifi cloud download is not a big deal for more quilt formats because my laptop takes care if interfacing downloads

Thank you very much for your comment. It's clear: different people need different machines. Which machine is most suitable depends, among other things, on what you are focusing on. If your are primarily interested in quilting, i.e. if garment sewing, patchwork, embroidery or other creative techniques are a lot less important, then a long-arm machine is a great choice. We love our Q Series models - just as much as we love the B 990. 😊

What happened to the black face??
Thank you for your question. We assume that you are referring to the machine's faceplate. In the case of the B 990, a light-colored plate was chosen in a complex design process. One important reason for this was the size of the machine. Black would have looked too massive. Yes, the machine is a little out of line with the B 590 and B 790 PRO who both have black faceplates as the top models in their series. This has been done on purpose. The B 990 is special in every respect.
