Yes, they gaslit me over gallbladder failure and made me wait another 48 hours and see an Urgent care doctor before the ER doctors finally took it seriously, realized what was wrong, and had emergency surgery.

I have experienced this so many times it’s an expectation that my concerns will be dismissed, not taken seriously especially when it is a male physician. I would also point out having a female physician does not automatically mean they will understand. Female anatomy & how our bodies respond to hormonal changes , types of medication, the different phases of our bodies when we physiologically mature are sadly lacking knowledge in 99.9 of our physicians, it’s worse within the specialist/surgeons. All of these should be included in the med school curriculum. Bed side manners definitely needs attention!

Well my Gynecologist retired a couple of year's ago, and I had been seeing him since 1987 I really liked him and he checked everything and asked how are you feeling etc!started my memograms at 42 ,because he thought they should be done before 45 or 50! I miss him ,I have a young woman niw who does almost nothing no exam just the pap test and that's it,and come back in 3 year's! Next summer I should be going again but I'll be asking my Doctor if there is someone else I can see, because I really don't feel comfortable going to her she also told me that they ate nit taught in medical school how yo exam a woman anymore so they don't,she said your other doctor was from the old school ways lol 😆 😅,

Doctors and hospitals should get sued for medical gaslighting! People are really struggling and they are told that it's just anxiety, their weight and age and to just deal with it. They don't want to listen to their patients and they care more about getting money in their pocket than their patients! If they actually did their jobs, more people would actually trust doctors more but they hate doctors because they don't care and they often make the situation worse. I am not saying all doctors are like this but there is a huge amount of them that are! This needs to change! My coworker would still be alive had they took her more seriously but they found out when it was too late. I am currently going through something similar with a neck injury which the doctors has crossed out as anxiety but it took a chiropractor to find out that my neck is really injured. The good news is that I did not break any bones but it did cause serious damage and especially in my right arm and legs. My neurologist doesn't even listen to me and I am eventually thinking about getting a different one because he doesn't seem that concerned.

I ditched my neurologist. I have a disease that has no treatment other than pain management (highly unlikely to ever get that) and orthotics when the feet become deformed because of the neuropathy. However we are supposed to have the disease monitored for progression. But my neuro straight up told me 'your disease does not cause nerve pain' when I told him my experiences with nerve pain (disclaimer: I dont want narcotics I just want it validated on my record because it is medically significant). All the research I have looked at about my disease says that a pretty bit percentage (though less than half) of people with my disease have nerve pain. He is either neglecting research on a disease he is supposed to be monitoring, or he is gaslighting me and either way, I dont want him anymore. I doubt I'll ever go back to neuro for this disease because whats the point when they cant treat it?

Experienced many instances of this over my lifetime. Medical pass the buck every time it takes more than a 5 min conversation

Yes this is so real! The Primary doctor doesn’t really give a hoot. He ordered a ton of blood work, after I was hemorrhaging for 6 weeks during the pandemic, AND my blood STOPPED because I had lost so much THE TECH couldn’t even finish taking my blood, I had no more to give without dying.

Far too common unfortunately, in Toronto.
