Driving Through Alps From Vipiteno Italy To Sindelsdorf Germany
Sterzing (German pronunciation: [ˈʃtɛrtsɪŋ]; Italian: Vipiteno [vipiˈtɛːno]) is a comune in South Tyrol in northern Italy. It is the main village of the southern Wipptal, and the Eisack River flows through the medieval town.
The town traces its roots to 14 B.C., when Nero Claudius Drusus founded a military camp called "Vipitenum" along the road between what are now Italy and Germany. Ancient ruins found nearby include a sepulchral monument dedicated to Postumia Vittorina, a milestone of the Imperator Septimius Severus period and a stone altar dedicated to Lord Mithras. In 550, following an invasion of Bavarii, the town of Sterzing take place, the first mention of a town called Wibitina dates back to the years between 985 and 990. That name, which is still memorized in Wipptal, is traced back to the nearby Celto-Roman settlement *Vibidina. In 1180, the name Sterzengum appears in a document.
In 1280, Duke Meinhard of Carinthia, promoted the village to the rank of city. As the region's proximity to the Brenner Pass made it a frequent trade route, the Fugger of Augsburg opened a branch to sort the products of the nearby silver mines in Ridnaun Valley and Pfleres Valley. Sterzing knew its magnificence in the 15th and 16th centuries after the 1443 fire which destroyed part of the town. New embattled houses were built, some late gothic style, in Neustadt (New Town) as: Town and Regional Trial House (1450), Hotel "Goldenes Kreuz" (1446), Fugger's Branch (1553), Rafenstein House (former Köchl, 1472), the Town Hall (1473), Geizkofler House (1600) and the Mining District House (1500) all still in use.
In the course of the Italianization of South Tyrol, the modern Italian name of the town Vipiteno - created from the old Roman settlement of Vipitenum was made official. Throughout the late 1940s and early 1950s, a number of wanted Nazis stayed in Sterzing at the Hotel Goldenes Kreuz which still exists today. At different times, people like Erich Priebke, Adolf Eichmann, and Josef Mengele were in transit here as they waited for forged passports for their journey out of Europe and by ship to South America.

AFTER WATCH THIS VIDEO I TRAVEL WITH MY YOUNGER BROTHERS ON THE SAME ROUTE WE ALL ENJOYED IT TOO MUCH.
Definitely recommend to visit this magnificent city 👌 Greeting from Iran 🇮🇷
I live in Lithuania, small country without mountains. So Alps are very impressive for me, have been here 3 times.
I've got to say thank you for this video. I have wanted to go to there since my mum showed me photos of Innsbruck in 1976! My son is profoundly disabled and in a wheelchair so travelling is not really an option these days. Having recently discovered UA-cam (I know.....old people!!!), our whole world has opened up. Hubby thinks I'm nuts watching someone else's car trip but I love it - much more satisfying than the Tour de France which I watch every year just to capture the scenery...lol! Keep it up, please....a very grateful Aussie Cheers!
May the Creator shower you with love and blessings for making sacrifices in order to take care of your son.
wow you sound just like my mom, she watches tour de france just for the scenery
Very kind words.
this really made my day ❤
God bless you my friend your endeavors will not be in vain
Watching from Puerto Rico through Oculus Go, best and safest way to “travel” during the pandemic
Thanks for a beaut trip through wonderful scenery. It looks even better mirrored to the TV.
Die gute alte Zeit, ich vermisse sie
I loved the drive! Such a beautiful place! Thank you for posting!
Thanks for this unbelievable beautiful journey. Everything about it is just breathtaking. I take this trip a lot of times to relax and clearing my mind. Just watching the beauty of mother nature and enjoying the trip.
REMROB, your travel videos rock! I just sit back and watch the beauty while you do the driving. Wonderful!
Italy has no business being this magnificent and gorgeous
Great video! Thank you very much. Been my dream to see Europe this way. I really had a good and relaxing time watching the beautiful countryside roll by. With the aid of the good driver, made the trip much more memorable. I am amazed at how well drivers operate their vehicles.
18. 43 Departure from the tunnel - very good shot!
love your video.
You seemed to love driving a lot.
Pretty impressvie to drive around those Tyrol's mountains in Innsbruck area.
A place, I would love to go.

Beautiful clear video.I really enjoyed this trip. So priviledged to travel and see such a beautiful country on you tube, Thank you.
wonderful. Love the landscapes
The "castle" we see at 1:07:45 is the "Seefeld Play Castle", opened in 1998 as an interactive amusement park and then closed a year later. There's also a train station there that was abandoned as well. According to the German Wikipedia, it is only occasionally used for events nowadays.
Thanks was wandering what castle that was. Stopped at that point in video to see if someone asked or knew. Ty for answer.
Bellísimo trayecto.
Gracias por compartir.
Saludos.
The quality of the roads is impressive. I didn't see any cracked pavement, potholes, or faded paint. We should do as good a job in the US.
Ralph Averill
Blame Republicons and their tax cuts and austerity measures.
TehMorbidAtheist Shut up.
Ralph Averill Yeah, I agree. Roads in America are pretty bad, and they also use more concrete which is very expensive to repair. European roads are much higher quality, especially in Germany.
I can testify you that the road from Vipiteno, Italy to Innsbruck, Austria is fine. I travelled through back in 2017. It's amazing because it's as if you're going to embrace the mountain.
Yes, but that part of Europe is a lot rich, in Italy (Centre and South) we have big problems with roads, google "Potholes in Rome" and you'll see. I don't live in Rome fortunately, I live in Milan, where roads are better tham the rest of the Country.
Good video. Beautiful places. Thanks for letting me see these wonderful places ....
1:12:45 That looks pretty spectacular.
Beautiful Upload friend. keep it up. Thank you for sharing this to us. Greetings from Korea
Crazy beautiful, thanks for posting,
Absolutely loved this thank you very much! We have great scenery in New Zealand but not good roads. These European roads are amazing, must be cool to drive on!
Beautiful. Video . Loving it .
thank you for the video
fantastic trip i enjoyed it
Absolutely Beautiful! My kind of weather too.
+LazyTitan This is what the weather is like in September
Very cool I like those mountains, watched it all the way listening to antenne 1.
Excellent trajet, mon vélo d'appartement a apprécié ! Merci.
Europe has the most majestic mountain ranges on the planet. Ideally, the IOC should have their winter olympics in Switzerland, Austria, Italy, The Canadian Rockies, and Germany every 4 years. Places where it actually snows every year.
Very cool!!
Nice scenery and the video! Thank god, I got family in the Europe, to old to drive there any more! Even in Slovak Republic! All is moving to fast! And I drove in New York for 20 or so years....
I like how u stopped right in the middle of that road for a castle shot..... :)
Robercie ! .
This is better than the real thing, as I switch into double speed, lay back in my recliner, put on my earphones and listen to my favorite musics on UA-cam. Much thanks from Westfield, Maine
thank you for this video it's very cool tank you think you again
watching this while listening to Mahler!
Good vide, i love it
You didn't say no stopping!🤤
Just kidding.
Fantastic trip thanks for that.

Wonderful scenic journey
I love this vid_
Wonderful scenic journey.

I am a German trucker, who has driven in more than 20 European countries. The by far most beautiful country is Norway. Norway has more road tunnels than any other country on this planet. The longest road tunnel is the lærdalstunnelen, 24.5 km or 15.3 miles. It takes 20 minutes for a drive thru, but there are three blue lightened resting lots in this tunnel. Wherever you are in Norway you see a postcard scenery, no exaggeration. But Norway is the most expensive country on earth.
Another beautiful country is Croatia, then the center of France, the Pyrenees in Spain, Andorra, France, the Alpes with France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria and South Germany, if you are in Italy, then take a trip to San Marino and Rome with the Vatican State. There is a beautiful canyon in Northwest Spain, near Barcelona. Not so long like the Grand canyon but gorgeous.
The very best roads are in The Netherlands, the country with the densiest motorway system on Earth, and every mile is a pleasure to drive.
You have to pay toll in the some countries like France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the Balkan countries.
If you are in Norway then take a trip to the Geijrangerfjord and to the Trollstigen road, you will never forget it. But there are many, many 1 or 1 1/2 lane roads there. Btw I have driven on such roads with my 40 tons truck
German Autobahns are toll free, still toll free. If you are in Austria then you have to buy a ticket for the Austrian motorway, but BEFORE you are in Austria. There is an extra toll control at the first parking place at the Austrian side of the border. You can buy the tickets at the most rest houses and fuel stations along the motorways to Austria. You will pay pretty much money fine without this "pickerl" in Austria. More than 50% of the German Autobahn are without any speed limit. You can go as fast as you want.
Thank you, Scaniarig.
Thank you, Scaniarig. Wish you safe driving.

Thank you, Aaron
1:37:00 time frame, beautiful Aston Martin that overtakes you and then you drive behind.
Your only an hour short of Sindelsdorf when the video ends.
Fantastic !!!! - What a view and drive - It looks like playing a video game . Really Nice - What speed are you driving

@@chahal_s i think he meant to say scenery
1:13:10 the best decision:)
너무 아름답네요 꼭 한번 여행가보고 싶어요 감사히 잘봤어요
I envy those living in Europe because l live in Australia and we don't get to see these beautiful majestic mountain rangers And apart from a few regions ,everything is flat a pancake in comparison
tarkineWild oh come on Australia is not that boring!
But you have them beautiful ocean road which many part of Europe dont have
Sehr schoen.!
thank you sir ,,very nice country roads view,,,,from Asia Malaysia,,1/1/2015,,,fridays,,
Hi there can I ask what type of camera you are using? The footage is really clear and smooth to say the least, thanks!
Reminds me of the Rocky Mountains.
Glorious views! What vehicle is this? Thanks!!
Mercedes Viano Ambiente
The left lane is for Mercedes (Rechts hab’ich). Other cars are there as a concession.
I'm driving a Mercedes Viano Ambiente
Good video, but you take a wrong direction in Innsbruck. Coming from Brenner on the motorway A13 - the best and shortest way to motorway A12 is - you must use "Knoten Innsbruck, Innsbruck Süd" (tunnel) in direct way to A12 - Bregenz Garmisch.
Greetings, Robert.
wowwww Very nice video
I liked the video a lot
?What kind of camera was used in the video
GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition
Breathtaking! I wonder how many hours is this journey?
A little late posting, but according to Google earth, distance is approx 185 km and would take about 2 hours 40 minutes.
Lovely scenery and good quality images but it was a strange way through Innsbruck. You must have missed an exit there, right?
+Christopher X Yes LOL!
Мне нравиться спасибо горных местности природы добов тоже за ранее спасибо
what castle is at 1:18 h.r?great vid,thx
Although the roads are impressive, there's little room for error. At least most roads in US have pull over lane which is a God send for big Rigs or flat tires.
sterziung is my hometown
thats where I live
The view looks like Middle Earth from Lord of the Rings.
The sat nav is on miles? That must be confusing, as all the distances'd be in kilometres.
Took the wrong exit coming in to innsbruck i see.
hello, may i know how you attach the camera with this angle ? thanks
Outside top of windshield for best view 👌
Great and smooth road! a rarity in my country. BTW what vehicle are you driving ?
+omkarjere Mrecedes Viano Ambiante
Most of the roads are freeways where you have to pay extra in this vid. I bet you compare it with country roads in your country
It has to be a small map at the corner on the bottom.
What is the speed of the car at around 27 minutes? Are there speed limits in the fast (left) lane?
About 110MPH
12:33 - Polska Ciężąrówka :D
Very nice video. Which camera you used for this?
Please read video info, thanks
Hero 3
Can I ask what camera did you use? Beautiful!!
+webdenis12 GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition
+webdenis12 Battery power with BacPac which records 3-4 hours depending on temperature, cold weather shortens recording time. SanDisk Micro SD Ultra 64GB. I have had a Hero 4 Black for almost a year and it is dramatically better especially low light such as evening and at night
Ah yes.... The 'ol Brenner Pass.. Anybody old enough to remember the opening of ABC Wide World of Sports that showed the mountains behind Innsbruck?
what kind of camera you use in video ?
GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition
GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition
Great video! But why the giant watermark?
Because some people Steal Videos! Thanks
And I thought the Highway 101 Scenic route from California through the Oregon coast line to Washington state was beautiful. This drive through the Swiss/ Austrian Alps is 10 times more beautiful. The snowcap mountains are nice. Europe's expressways and high speed bullet train systems looks so technologically advanced and modernized than the U.S.'s. We need to upgrade ours big time. We can create millions of new jobs rebuilding our crumbling infrastructures across the country.
He was in Italy, Austria and then Germany, not in Switzerland

Wonderful scenic journey
Did you go through one toll booth at the start, then round and back through another?
In Italy you have a closed toll System, i. e. the toll depends on the length of your path on the highway.
At the first booth (in this case "Vipiteno/Sterzing) you get a ticket (in this case with the text "Vipiteno/Sterzing" on it); at the second (in this case "Brennero/Brenner" (although the booth is 16 km off the border)) you pay (in this case the path Vipiteno-Brennero).
Empress Antoinette-Bonaparte-Christian But the british royal house and the queen are from germany just like the french, the dutch, the belgium, spain, Portugal, greece, sweden, norway, denmark. :) etc LOL!
Hey Robert. Would you happen to have any video of you driving at night? I would like to see. how the.night life of Italy is like =)
Are you driving a van or camper? Is there a speed limit and is it enforced?
I am driving a Mercedes Benz Viano because I had 5 people with me. I guess you could call it a Van but it is not sold in all countires such as the USA North America. On the Autobahn there is speed limits in some areas and in most there is No speed limit. Hope you enjoyed the entire video!
Mercedes Benz Viano Ambiente, some areas have speed limit, others do not and Yes it is enforced
Dam they're really not a fan of emergency shoulders in Europe...
Video is awesome, but the wind noise is irritating
Where do you put the camera?
MRJ in the mirror maybe
I wish it didn't have that watermark.
It has the Watermark because people steal other people's videos and post them as their own. Watermark doesn't take away from enjoying the videos
Why are those trees all yellow at 1:11:07?
Brian Bingham I guess pine or spruce ,they are illuminated by the sun , so they turn yellow for you.
Why are you almost continuously driving on the left lane?
In different countries you drive on the different side of the road for example, in Australia where I live we drive on the side closest to the driver (right) and in America you drive on the side closet to the passenger (left).
Right, but here you're driving from Italy to Germany and you should keep the right lane as much as possible.
Right lane is for trucks, buses and slow vehicles like mobile homes.
Because there are massive trucks are on the right lane. I know how it's since I travelled through back in 2017. It was such an amazing trip. You get to see similar fantastic landscapes if you drive from Innsbruck to Salisbury, Austria.
why most of the highways have those high barriers?
Traffic sound barrier for the homes
Cars & Travels ! - REMROB oh thanks! nice video btw
I didn't notice the German border, which part of the video is it?
You can find the border Austria/Germany there:
1:15:25 blue border sign
1:15:28 speed limit information
There are no real borders anymore. You can just go here, nobody will control you.
+mob1235 I just wanted to know which landmarks indicated that he had entered Germany.
yes just the sign at the side of the road
