Watching this 16+ years after this was recorded... there is a good chance I was sitting on a barstool, drunk off my ass, sipping starfire ale listening to Charlie shread at Fitgers Brewhouse... Now im listening to it in my woodshop, carvinv a walnut ladle!! Holy shit, man a lot has changed for him, me, and the world. Great music defies all time and space... Thanks for all your music Charlie.
When he says about the man who never took out his trash I'm like haha what a fuckin loser then he said he took care of his family and he was a good man I'm like damn that dude sounds pretty cool.
For the guitarists, I think the tuning is DADDAD. I'm still not really sure if it's 100% correct but it sounds pretty like it. Please comment if you think it's different.
Would anybody be so kind and write down lyrics for this song? In the whole of the internet I haven't found a link. English ain't my mothertounge but I would like to know what I'm singing along to
@MolotovTNT because you get the blues on some rotten backporch somewhere out in the country. because those guys nowadays are the antidote to hipsters. but they by far all look like lumberjacks.... watch the movie THE FOLKSINGER by SLOWBOAT FILMS to get it....
It saddens me that stuff like THIS isn't on the radio! This man has loads of talent and his music is awesome!
AGREED

Of the live videos I've seen, Charlie's are some of my favorites. I'm going to have to venture far from San Diego if I'm going to see him.

Charlie puts on a great show! Love the writing, too.
Feeling good.. Thanks from New Hampshire
Love the guitar work on this tune.....thanks

You rock my man.

Its a little foggy right away due to the fact thats it's Minnesota and the camera came in from outside. But it clears up quickly
Speaks of depression to me... Hauntingly beautiful.
thank goodness for KPFT, public radio
I found out about Charlie from KPFT too. not a day has gone since I found out about him that I haven't listened to at least a few songs.
Update: DADF#AD sounds even better the way he plays it I think.
This is unbelievable.

Holding the third fret of the B string alot and hammering the 2nd fret of the D string.
Like Eddie Vedder meets appalachia, I like it!

I think you're right Thim. Although on the studio recording he detunes. Sounds better capo 2 DGDGBD?

From the same crazy dream.
Is it just me or do these top comments only make about 80% sense
Nope, not just you.
The 3rd fret B acts as the slide.
Anybody got any more tuning insight on this?
