Leslie Morshead should have been given command of Elamein. A quiet man , small in stature, but an absolute giant . I say with absolute respect , in pure Australian, "He was a ferocious bastard". When in charge of Tobruk his orders were that every man was to fight with " boots, teeth, and everything". This order went down to even the cooks. Everyone there was told to get into the action if it came to that, and when bullets ran out then it was bayonets! Had Mr Rommel got through on any of those early battles, I am sure he would have been surprised at what was waiting for his men. It was a hornets nest. Those men in the video were the toughest of soldiers, but lead by someone tougher. Leslie fought at Lone Pine, Gallipoli,. I don't need to say anymore. RIP Mr Morshead. 2:04
