I understand into Engine 1; out to Engine 2; into Engine 2; out to Engine 3, etc. But what's up with the multiple lines on Engine 1 and all the wyes? Will appreciate a good firefighter jumping in here.
chuck G the engine connected to the hydrant is using two 5 inch supply lines to its intakes, 1 on each side of the engine. it just allows them to get the maximum possible water from the hydrant. and then a third 5 inch supply line being used as a discharge to the next engine.
I see this company is mindful of the grass, they have a built in sprinkler system.
Water cleared up quickly from that first flush.

the red manifold on the second supply line to the engine allows another engine to tie into that supply line if needed
