Domo arigato Sensei Prinsloo and many thanks for sharing! You're performance Karin is absolutely perfect and is clearly illustrated, you are a true credit to all of our Shotokan family and to all of the karate community everywhere! During these testing times may you and you're family, friends and student's and to all of our fellow subscribers and viewers to stay safe and we will all pull thru this by keeping our guard up! Oss! 🥋
Great video, they have really been helpful refining my techniques in Kata. The videos are well edited and presented, I especially like the break down where you revisit the important points because these are usually sometimes tricky. Thank you so much, I look forward to your next video :)
Thanks alot Sensei.. Oss. Your videos are so much meaning full and a step by step moves slow motion it helped me alot to understand and memorize the Kata. There is a spiritual touch in your explanation. The bunkai is amazing, beautiful and magical.
Thank you Sensei Prinsloo! We appreciate the countless hours it took to make the video. Thank you for sharing your passion and lifestyle with us! From just a student Arigatou gozaimasu.
Sensei, I would just like to comment on the break down of the side kick elbow strike combo. Your bunkai shows that while you are blocking your attacker's punch, you were standing on only one leg while the other is clipped for a side kick. Sensei, that is a very impractical application of this technique. No one would try to defend themselves with only one leg standing up. Also, for the follow up elbow strike, you showed a variant going for the head and it seems you had a difficult time trying to hit your attacker because he was tall. A simple solution would have been to pull him down especially since you were holding his arm anyway. Traditional karate practitioners would call it hikite or pulling hand (the useless fist placed at the rib). After that, you would hold the back of his head and pull it towards your striking elbow just like in the kata. Simpler application and more effective in actual self defense on the street.
Assuming your opponent is a modern karate practitioner is nonsense. Your face is wide open when you use the juji-uke like that. Waiting for the second attack is not the safest thing you can do. Bunkai study needs to be taken a lot more seriously.
with all respect but you look like youre giving a childbirth. You prove yourself that you are a strong woman and can be physically equal to male instructors but there is no inner calm in your techniques. Maybe you should train sometimes with a smile in your face, too serious karate is bad karate, as an okinawan master once said

I'm confused, this shotokan follows which master, Nakayama? Kanazawa? Enoeda?
Bruxeiro we are JKA, you can read on www.jka.or.jp. JKA is the original body of shotokan that was lead by Nakayama Shihan.
