I saw the last years of the great Euclid Beach Amusement Park as a kid in the Sixties, when it was beyond its heyday. Had passes from my elementary school to go there with my family. Had some fun. Sad that it closed down in '69. However, some remnants, like the archway front entrance, are still there as a reminder of what things were like for previous generations of Clevelanders, which are historical artifacts for everyone, particularly those too young to remember.
Wow, great photos from the golden days of Euclid Beach. I went there with my cousins all the time in 1950's and early 1960's. So many awesome memories shared there. It was a sad day when they closed the park in late 1960's.
Oh wow thanks for all those great looking older pictures a lot of them I don't remember but I was born in the late 50s and I did go to Euclid Beach Park. My favorite ride was the rotor and if you are not familiar with that that's where you stand against the wall and then the floor drops and you're stuck to the wall and you're spinning very fast so fun....wwweeeee. . Does anyone else have a favorite memory . Or ride from Euclid Beach Park also used to eat the Humphrey popcorn balls
@@jeannierusso2134 I remember a ride called the Rotor at Geauga Lake which sounds exactly like what you described. A lot of people got sick on it but I had fun! - John
@@user-zf1go1lp7m thanks 4 your nice reply . . You can tear down buildings you can take away the name but the memories will always be in my head... I think you're right when you said there was a rotor at Geauga Lake to also I forgot to add that while you were stuck to the wall and spinning very fast there was a really loud music playing.. and I just kept going around and round and round and the operator said: ITS U AGAIN. YES IT IS.
Wow! I never knew we had a mini Cedar Point right here in Euclid. All the what if's... If Euclid Beach Amusement Park would have remained updated and open. What if?
Cedar Downs racing derby at Cedar Point was originally at Euclid Beach Park. They have a historical marker next to it. So at least there's a tiny piece of its history still alive locally and giving families more memories! I always make sure to ride it even though I'm old now, and it always puts a smile on my face and brings me back to my childhood. It's one of 3 racing derbys left, but the only one where the horses still move forward and backward.
Euclid !Beach was great! Sad closed due to crime coming in from Cleveland. They even set fires. Same with Downtown. Was wonderful at christnas..safe. we stopped going at christmas due to crime. Terrible when a man was stabbed to death waiting in line with his family to see Santa

I remember going there for my mom's company picnic.
Did you have a magic carpet ride?
Did you have a fun house?
