Tribute to Organ Donor Claire Tipler

Claire Tipler was an expressive visual artist who loved painting, photography and dance. Art was not her only gift to the world... when she passed away at the age of 21, she saved 3 adults and one child through organ donation. (Lifesharing found matching recipients for her heart, liver and kidneys.) In June of 2020, Claire's mother organized an art project in her honor -- Lifesharing was proud to take part. In this video, Claire's parents -- Karen and Brad Tipler -- describe Claire's passion for art and adventure.... and how organ donation helped them find meaning in the wake of their daughter's death.

One of the most generous gifts a person can grant another -- life. When my stepson unexpectedly passed, we were devastated. Donating his organs was somewhere in the blur of decisions made hastily while we were in shock and grief. Only much later did I realize how many people he helped. It would have meant so much to him to know that he profoundly impacted the lives of families.
Like these folks, I wanted to tell those families what a good person he was: a great dad to his young sons, a considerate husband, always positive and a great sense of humor.
Now, my only sister exists on dialysis, waiting for a kidney transplant. I watch this funny, vibrant woman struggle daily to make herself go to the treatments that keep her alive. Now, I really know the impact my stepson had on the lives of others. and I take comfort knowing he would really have liked it.
