Also, there are shops but they are here and there and not very concentrated in one location. If you venture out to South Park, you’ll find quite a number of shops. NoDa is a good shopping place as well.
I just moved to Charlotte too and I'm loving it. I prefer outside of the uptown centre area tho. Plenty of amazing restaurants with vegan options. There is also an amazing restaurant/pub called Whiskey Club or something like that. They play amazing 80s 90s rock n roll and have plenty of drinks and burgers including vegan options.
Thanks! And who knows, maybe we will see some in the future! It’s stinks that companies like Amazon and Walmart has made the future of retail so volatile
I'm an original...born and raised in the QC, and I totally agree. But believe it or not at one time (late 70's - early 80s') up town was a major shopping district. It's where all our major department stores (Belk's, Ivey's - now Dillard's, etc.) were located, as well as countless mom and pops clothing stores, eateries, chain restaurants, etc. were located. Back then, on any given day you would find thousands of shoppers roaming the streets of uptown. But with the rise of shopping malls (Southpark, Eastland, etc.) and their popularity in the 80s', the then city council/manager thought it would be a great idea to turn uptown into a banking/business district only. A move the city quickly regretted. So it is now slowly trying to revitalize the area with shops, restaurants, entertainment, etc. Just a little history from a native.
@@stardust0813 oh man that is so fascinating! I would kill to see a photo of the area from the 70/80’s era. Hi! Thank you for this video, my friend & I are in the process of moving to CLT in the next few months. We are coming from a big city as well, so looking forward to a "chiller" environment. Do you think Uptown is the best place to live?
Thanks for watching! I think you should totally check out south end, it’s a 5 minute walk from uptown, and easily my favorite part of the city with all the restaurants and bars. I hope this helps, but Uptown is fantastic too! 😁
Why did you choose Charlotte over Raleigh? And what areas would you recommend to families? I was also thinking of moving there, but I found the entire south east very hot, humid and boring. I haven't been to NC though.
I have to say, I was nervous about the humidity but this summer hasn’t been nearly as bad as the NYC area! I chose Charlotte over Raleigh for the speed. Raleigh was just too slow when I visited and Charlotte always has something going on to do. For families (looking to start one myself) I would highly suggest looking at Fort Mill (make sure it is Fort Mill school district). You are only about 20-30 minutes from the heart of the city, you have the luxury of saving on taxes being it is on the southern side of the North and South Carolina border, and the school district is said to be fantastic! I have visited the town a few times and it is beautiful. I’d also suggest looking into Tega Cay (just next to Fort Mill on the southern side) as well as Ballantyne, which is in Charlotte. I hope this helped!
@@ChaseTheHorizonYT Thx. That helps a lot! As you know house prices have massively gone up and it's expensive everywhere. I'm in California, where I don't know how to buy at all. I went to Tampa about a year ago, but I was surprised that that there was no life out there in the streets. The further you got out, the more rednek it became. Ultimately I opted against it bc I couldn't see myself living there.
I'm an NC native and I gotta say, you really can't compare NC to the rest of the southeast. We're more purple, have great geographical variety, and have big cities (like Charlotte). We've also got some great little towns, so you've got tons of options around. Charlotte is your best bet for a busy city, Raleigh is nice if you're looking for something slower paced and wanna raise a family. I think we're far superior to Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia (except maybe Atlanta, depending on what your style is), and the rest of the low country states like Alabama, etc. NC is definitely a gem. However, yeah it gets hot during the summer lol. I like to think NC is a very good middle ground between the extremes of all the states in the US.
Great question! Public transportation in my opinion is definitely not were it should be however it exists. I haven’t used it yet so sadly I couldn’t give too much insight but I may make a video highlighting it soon!
Late reply to you. You will need a car. Even if the grocery store etc is two blocks away you will still need to get to the Post Office, UPS Store, doctors, a vet maybe, gym, entertainment venues like the Bellk theatre, maybe a place of worship. To actually do anything and visit the restaurants and points of interest again, you need a car. This is not NYC, Philadelphia, Boston and driving is a must. Public transportation is a joke and goes North-South whilst the city consists of circular neighborhoods.
Which areas in Charlotte do you recommend that are still affordable, walkable, and convenient to healthy groceries, restaurants, public transportation, etc?
😲 “ ‘ ONLY TIME WILL TELL! ’ …. Indeed, Charlotte’s spectacular and up-and-coming. However, ‘ only handles not only the unintended consequences that come with high-profile expansion and explosive growth. NYC, Chicago, LA, and many other more established markets have already ’ been there and done that ’ . But the real test will be not only what will happen when ‘ the good times ’ end and the problems keep coming. Many places look and feel marvelous when their skylines are expanding along with other exciting, new, developments and attractions. However, Many don’t find out what places are truly like until things aren’t doing so well (ex: Local Recessions, Business Closures, Mass Layoffs, Population Decrease, Affordability, Crime, Racial Strife and Socioeconomic Disparity, Etc.) that actually show what they’re made of. ”
Thanks! For me outside of the real estate market I think there is a wide open space for (as hard as it may be to believe with all of the restaurants) some solid mid-class chain restaurants, and retail space especially in the tech industry just to name a few are things I noticed immediately. What are your thoughts on this?
@@ChaseTheHorizonYT oh great very interesting take. I really appreciate it. It sounds good the restaurant business is high profitable if you succeed, I like logistics and also I am Interested in Construction Industry such as A heavy equipment owner operator to put a foot in the Door but with the goal of becoming a Contractor to develop a whole project.
That’s an industry I wish I knew more about! There is more construction in this city than anything else, which is a great thing! I wish you great success, and who knows maybe one day we will cross paths working on a project 😁
Thought I might help you out. All the new apartments, townhouses, homes means property management is one area to make money. Lawn care with all the new lawn, landscaping, screen installation (took me two months to book), junk removal and things like washer dryer rentals as many rentals in NC lack a WD. Same with screens. Vet care because all the new people have pets and the practices are overloaded with new clients.
Parts of it do, but in my opinion they don’t have nearly the same effect they do here - probably because the streets are so much bigger? What are your thoughts? Thank you for watching! 😁
It’s like we’ve heard how garbage our state is from New Yorkers for so long and now we’ve built something we can be proud of, here they come calling it home. Nah. Keep that same energy

@@luperamos7307 ha ha, true and funny
@@xziph0z686 excellent points and insight!
Thanks for the video. Looks like they do have public transportation… ? I don’t have a car so I was curious a good area to live in
Great question!
Do you feel safe walking in the streets there?
Check out Noda
I go there often when the weather is nice I love it! 😁
Welcome to Charlotte
Thank you!
@@ChaseTheHorizonYT you're welcome
Which areas in Charlotte do you recommend that are still affordable, walkable, and convenient to healthy groceries, restaurants, public transportation, etc?
@@rolam1883 what price range do you consider affordable?
Very good points! I definitely is interesting to be in a city still in such a rapidly growing phase 😁
So bud the year passed, how do you like our beautiful Charlotte?)
Good video👍 what industries do you see with plenty opportunities?
@@ChaseTheHorizonYT that would be awesome🤜🤛 thanks for the good wishes I hope the same for you, take care!
Yes. I didn't like that I couldn't shop. Weird. a Gold mine if someone thinks of it
Agreed! I’m wondering if there are other factors holding people back
You left out the opera underneath BOA.
Uhh NYC has trees on sidewalk
Parts of it do, but in my opinion they don’t have nearly the same effect they do here - probably because the streets are so much bigger? What are your thoughts? Thank you for watching! 😁
Charlotte NC , it's 100 percent better than NYC
😄😄 That's funny. The native Charlotte people hate all you New Yorkers moving there. Philly too. It's funny you said that
I love the New Yorkers moving here, they need a home.
No....the native Floridians can't stand northerners, period.
It’s like we’ve heard how garbage our state is from New Yorkers for so long and now we’ve built something we can be proud of, here they come calling it home. Nah. Keep that same energy
Suburban ass city ….Charlotte is not a real city…and boring as hell
I personally did not like living in Charlotte. No originality, all cookie cutter buildings. The food scene is average. Besides the white water center, not much to do outside
Uptown is nothing special. It really isn't.
Where do you recommended?
Agreed. I’ve found that Charlotte doesn’t really have as much to do as nyc. But i digress , the epicenter seemed sorta slow to me , and Tryon st was the block that seemed the most lively to me
Lots of criminals in Uptown
