Wow - this performance gave me goosebumps! As you can see the video is slanted (for copyright purposes) I hope it's not too distracting. You can watch my reaction to Sydnie's semi final performance of 'My Way' here: ua-cam.com/video/e13rYFMjqMQ/v-deo.html

What I absolutely adore about Syndie's performances is how she tugs at the emotional strings of so many hearts with her mesmerizing voice (mine included). I can't think of another artist who can evoke such pure, unbridled joy in every single performance. It's a feeling beyond words. Your reactions to her performances were incredible, some of the best I've ever seen. You've gained a new follower. Cheers!

First time a solo woman singer won top prize in the 17 years of BGT. So deserved. In an interview, she only had three days to learn this version. Gave major credit to her BGT vocal coach.

Hello Nina, I'm new here, but really love your style of presentation. Like all who watched the final last saturday evening on UK ITV channel, I was blown away with Sydnie's performance, so may I give a few words of information, from UTube searches. After winning golden buzzer, she had about 4 weeks before her performance in the 4th semi final, and won that one with "My Way". During that period, BGT gave her the use of a good vocal coach to help her where necessary, and she actually mentioned this during the interview answer to a question, "what will you do with the £25000 prize money?", her reply was that now she could afford weekly singing lessons with this coach, who had improved her voice more than her years of attendance at College, obviously some time ago, as she is now 28. Yes, she has had a small amount of musical theatre experience in London, but craves a leading lady part in one of the larger WestEnd London theatres. In the meantime, she has performed on Cruise Ships, and has a UTube channel, with a few videos, but nothing like as spectacular as recent BGT videos. So, with more good Coaching, her voice could get better, but hey, it is already fantasic.
So, like many singers trying to earn a living doing what they love, she sings from the heart, and clearly has learnt how to present songs in her own way. X

    • @s.gilbert7962
      @s.gilbert7962 3 місяці тому +5

More,, also her favourate singer is Loren Alred, so you can see a similar style of singing. Loren actually messaged her on her win. Now, when she won her semifinal, she had only 3 days max to come up with the song for the final! BGT suggested "Over the rainbow", which she agreed to, and her presentation is not surprisingly, similar to Loren's style on AGT. But with her own "kisses" variations.
She has said that she would like to do a duet with Loren in the future, lets see? She will be performing at the Royal variety performance in November, I think, so wonder which song she will sing? X

Great comments, without having seen her first song, etc, yet.
I also found you thanks to you looking at what is Sydnie's proper career starter on BGT.
On the breakfast TV show afterwards she said Loren Allred, who is her idol, contacted her with a video message to encourage her to put her own "kiss" on Loren's "Over the Rainbow" adaptation from last year, after BGT suggested it for her, just after the semi-final.
She did it so so so well.

From her first appearance on BGT when her charm, humor, and personality alone should have won her a golden buzzer, to her masterful rendition of "Tomorrow," where her genius turned the song from childhood optimism to adult angst, a new song entirely, in meaning and vocal power. Indeed, all of her performances turned on this personal note of career failure, defiance in "My Way" and yearning in "Over the Rainbow." The irony is that in defying failure, she has proven that her dream of the West End was not real or worthy of achieving; she is a superstar of the concert stage--forget singing the same songs every day to a small audience, Sydnie, "let's have it all!"

I think she is awesome and I think she very possibly will be one of the few winners of such shows who will actually get a real careerboost. And I think the fact of her personality which seems to indeed not be a big ego, a lot of warmth and willingness to joy will help a lot. She reminds me of Kelly Clarkson in this. A type of person people will want to work with not just because of their ability but because they will work together well ..their goal being the end product rather than their Ego. Definitely keeping my fingers crossed for Sydnie..May all her dreams come through!

At these two times (3:04 and 4:47), you stopped and listened again as Sydnie hit these glorious high notes. An aspect of that which truly struck me was that each time, she stopped the immediately preceding note, paused a moment, then came back in at exactly the right note. Not even the tiniest bit off, but perfectly on it. Maybe an oscilloscope could detect some imprecision, but I certainly couldn't. Having performed in orchestra and choir, I know how difficult it is to come in on a note precisely. Even professionals can be a touch off. The degree of vocal control needed to be so precise is staggering to me. Simon was right when he said she had a god-given talent.

So, congrats to you for feeling the "never enough" vibe in Sydnie's rendition. You are absolutely right with this.

I very much enjoyed watching your reaction and your comments were, for me, absolutely spot on. Sydnie doesn't need the West End, the West End needs her! I feel she most likely will be a Superstar who can command the largest venues worldwide for a very long time. I believe her management have a UK concert tour planned for her in October this year- she'll smash it!

Best singer I have ever heard. I thought Lauren who sung never enough use to be first. Sydnie is a Lap ahead of her. It’s the way she sings. I’m an ex d1 athlete and male all the way. Yet I cry watching and listening to her sing.

Loren is lovely both are wonderful singers. I reckon Loren connects with Sydnie's journey because it's similar to hers. Lauren writes songs too. Don't know if Sydnie does. But in one area Syndie leads. Sydnie communicates with greater confidence to the presenter & audience with more confidence & less reserve. She reacts without filter. That pure egoless authentic confidence resonates with audiences in a like us that creates such a strong rapport it's no suprise the desire to support her is amplifier it's magnetic both in the studio & across TV. I think we'll see Syndie over on AGT all-stars next & those two will get chat. Loren is so beautiful to video & encourage her..I'd love to see them duet on stage. I bet they'll be like twins having fun on the town shopping or chilling. Of course Sydnie's bf is a promising singer & seems equally bubbly so that'll be equally fun to sing together some classics even at Loren's NY home.
So there's no need to compare them . I just think they make a magical duet of song verse swaps. It would be like a blissful night of song. I can see Sydnie bring out Loren's personality. I think with more vocal coaching Sydnie is going to be huge by say 2 to 3 years. It'll be a series of events, song writers. I think Syndie is capable of learning operatic singing, something Loren is too with her parents background. I think these two will be such buddies. There's no need to feel competitive. There's room for both. I wouldn't get into comparison. Loren does lovely gentle feminine belt beautifully. Sydnie has some power in her belt that's almost operatic in ability to fill a hall. It's really almost energetic it's just more open position vocal chord mouth positioning.

Some of the notes are reminiscent of the brilliant Israel Kamawaeole mash up from 1978. On the words “lullaby” and “find me” in the first verse. But she takes off in another direction and it’s quite refreshing…

Have loved your reactions to Sydnie (love her, we need an album and concerts). Glad I found your channel & looking forward to your reaction to the first audition. Her personality, holding it together after Simon’s reaction to her song choice and hearing Tomorrow like it’s completely new and her song is a moment I’ll never forget. It’s always felt to me like what it must have been like on that long ago night Funny Girl opened on Broadway and the world truly met Barbara Streisand in all her unique, quirky, magical glory. I hope Sydnie’s journey is as memorable for her and us. My 20 year older sister still talks about seeing the tv special a year later, My Name is Barbara, that started the worldwide love affair with her presence and incredible voice. We’ve had that with Sydnie, my first thoughts during Tomorrow were “we have a new Barbara”, not because they sound the same but because they have the same magic and are complete packages of person & talent and put their whole hearts into every performance.

If you have ever listened to Bernadette Peters (I'm sure you have), Sydnie has a similar emotional approach to her songs. Bernadette could actually sound like she was crying whilst singing on the note and it is just that they have this terrific ability to put the emotion in the voice. I am so pleased for Sydnie and hopefully now, people will listen and take note!

After seeing all 3 of her performances, I believe Sydnie doesn't sing a song - she becomes the song and the song becoes her. They become one unit. That's why her performances feel so personal.

The song choices from Sydnie tell an autobiography of her hopes and dreams, and if you will go to the first song and look at her wardrobe, you will see she is cleaver in how to dress. With "Tomorrow", she dressed something reminiscent of an orphan, perfect for the song. With "My Way" her attire, the stage, the mic stand and microphone all looked as if they were right from Broadway. In her last song, she wore white and looked angelic as she sang "Over the Rainbow", another fitting wardrobe and stage setting bending to her song choice.
