1. If you notice, throughout the entire series, they constantly show bakugo with a hand in his pocket. He always has that card on him.
2. Monoma and Aizawa can’t look away from Bakugo’s corpse because if they take their eyes off of Shigaraki, everyone else dies too.
This episode has a special level of pain for those of us who saw the Heroes Rising movie.

Shigaraki talks down to Bakugo, saying things along the lines of Bakugo not being worthy of standing along side Izuku or One for All.
But in the 2nd movie, remember that Izuku was ready to give up One for All and who he was ready to entrust it to.

I love how everybody was scrambling to come up with a theory as to how Bakugo could possibly survive when the manga chapter came out (Eri, time travel, etc.), and here Kenny is coming up with the Edgeshot stitches up his heart solution a minute after finishing the episode 😂.

I'm not going to lie, while I did know what happens to Bakugo (because the spoilers were *impossible* to escape when the chapter came out), how brutal it all was still shocked me. We've seen characters hurt and damaged before, but this is just next level.

Same here. I don’t read the manga, but I was in the middle of watching season 4 of the anime when that chapter came out, and you’re right - it was impossible not to get spoiled. The internet blew up. I’m not someone who likes spoilers, and that was even worse because everyone was saying my favorite character in the show was dead.
I’m honestly pretty upset at how Horikoshi treated Bakugo in this season. After all the attention and buildup he’s given this character, he treated him like an absolute joke. Shigaraki goes on this whole tirade about how Bakugo is second string trash who can’t keep up and will always be trash, then Bakugo gets a massive boost on his quirk that makes him easily several times more powerful than he was before, and what happens? Shigaraki is proven right, Bakugo is basically immediately ragdolled and dropped dead on the spot. The episode dragged it out, but if you watch it, the entire fight sequence was this:
- Bakugo charges forward, blasts Shigaraki in the face
- Shigaraki tries to elbow him, Bakugo dodges it. Shigaraki tries to hit him with the hand mass, he dodges that too.
- Bakugo charges behind Shigaraki, and gets instantly annihilated.
Ignoring all the monologuing and stuff they dragged the scene out with, Bakugo stood against Shigaraki for like 4.5 seconds at best. That is just disrespectful to a character like Bakugo to literally treat them like the background trash they’ve worked so hard to never be and proven they’re not time and time again. He landed ONE HIT, with his quirk on overdrive, and then died. That is just vile treatment of this character. And I don’t wanna hear anything about “oh but Shiggi was affected by it” he was affected SO mildly, that hit wasn’t even the straw that broke the camels back, it’s like claiming you saved somebody from an attacker because you threw a loose pebble at him while six other guys beat him up.
They’ve already watched ahead on Patreon so this isn’t a spoiler, but for the literal rest of the season, Bakugo lies there dead being resuscitated. Realistically by the time the season ends Bakugo has been on the ground with no pulse and no brain activity for like 20-30 fucking minutes minimum. Nobody’s coming back to life after being brain-dead that long, it’s over. But the show is still gonna bring him back, and I’m not even sure i’d like them to, I mean if you’re gonna treat Bakugo like such disposable garbage you could at least stand by it and let him be dead. This is the most blatant bs plot-armor scene I’ve seen in a while. Horikoshi wanted to have his cake and eat it too with killing a significant character, and it lead to him absolutely destroying such a well-written character arc and treating Bakugo like everything he wrote him not to be.

Bakugo speaking to All Might's vestige isn't the only movie callback this episode.
The music track during Bakugo's last stand is the same track as when Deku fought Flect Turn in the World Heroes Mission movie.
I just love how much work this season does to show that the movies are, in fact, canon. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
It's non-canon stop making references to it when talking about canon material.

@@WhatsIQ This is completely incorrect, The movies are unarguably 100% canon, Horikoshi wrote them to tie in to the manga, he even confirms as such in volume 25, they are just extra stories like Team Up Missions and School Briefs and SMASH and Vigilantes, everything MHA is objectively canon
when it comes to "Only the original manga is canon" that is completely based on what the author does, Toriyama for example was not involved with the DBZ movies outside of some designs hence they are not canon, Oda provides Canon characters such as Uta and doesn't handle the writing so the character is canon to the One Piece universe but not the movie, but Horikoshi is heavily involved with the writing of the movies and even considers them to be canon himself, so objectively the movies are canon

I always think of this full body cluster as Bakugo’s “full cowling” which is so cool in this moment since his actions are inspired by Izuku

NAHH. I CRIED FOR A SOLID 20 MINUTES WHEN I WATCHED THIS EPISODE. 😭🙏🏻 Can't believe I had to wait for a whole week for the next one. I knew that he was going to‘die’very early on because I got spoiled. But I didn't know when it'd transpire. I love Katsuki and this was so hard to watch.

@@anthonymorenosorto2743 dude, being obvious doesn't mean it's not a spoiler. There's lots of people in the comments here who said they got this moment spoiled (implying that it would have been more impactful had they not), so maybe cut it with further spoilering of the series.
@ if I did spoil someone by saying that bakugo comes back then they obviously weren’t paying attention at all to what was happening in the episode.
Now I could be remembering this wrong, but if I remember correctly the next episode came out two weeks after this one, they delayed releasing it the because the olympics began the next weekend, so for two weeks everyone was stuck on the cliffhanger of Bakugo's lifeless body.

*On a brighter note, I really love Suneater’s new move! His quirk was already extremely versatile, what with being able to recreate the parts of animals and plants that he’s eaten, but now, he’s taken it the extra mile by using those properties in a brand new way! Making a giant cannon that launches Nejire’s quirk’s energy. I’m assuming all those different parts aren’t just for show, and he actually managed to recreate something akin to a mechanism that can fire Nejire’s energy in such a concentrated way.*
*I also think that Lemillion’s conversation with Shigaraki really demonstrated that deep within him, there is still someone that needs saving. Even after what happened with Kacchan, that’s not something that can be ignored…*

Only a theory
I absolutely BALLED my eyes out with this episode. The love you gain for Bakugo throughout the show and his character growth and realizing the movies are cannon and the uncontrollable sobbing I did with the vestige scene....its just unbelievable.
This is one of the most anticipated episodes in the show to watch. I think there are 5 episodes in this season that are probably considered in most people’s top 10 episodes in the show depending on their preferences. This is DEFINITELY one of them. I’m going to separate Bakugo’s part in this episode and the Big 3 + other fun hero details for obvious reasons. They both deserve as much respect as I can offer because everything in this episode is spectacular. (I’ll cover the Big 3 here)
Aizawa is watching Bakugo have a REALLY bad day plus he’s getting strangled, and you can see Aizawa’s true thoughts and fears burst out as he’s watching this. Because the entire ethos of his teaching philosophy is because he doesn’t want the kids to waste their lives in pursuit of empty justice. He can’t let the kids end up like Shirakumo. And now that he knows Garaki was trying to get HIM not Shirakumo for an AFO offering, we can see something as horrifying a “You’re only 2nd rate, but we’ll use you anyhow.” Kind of promise can be. It just makes Bakugo getting hurt for any reason even MORE wasteful than others because it’s just to make an example. (And thank god he’s not focused on getting EVERYONE close to Deku. Bakugo is terrifying as it is but imagining Iida or Uraraka in this position is just DEEPLY upsetting to imagine)
The Big 3 have entered the scene. And we finally get to see how outstanding their teamwork is after all this time. Throughout season 4 we saw just how ridiculously powerful they were. Mirio had skill and technique unmatched capable of handling 20 people at once with ease and 5 professional villains including Overhaul who although waited til he was powerless, admitted he genuinely thought he was going to lose to Mirio while also being not just the elusive symbol class of hero, but also was fully trained to be so. Nejire had massive power that could topple giants and although it’s not the same threat at the MOMENT, AFS was genuinely worried about getting toppled by surge. (At the time he had been freshly sun blasted by Endeavor and OFA had resisted his theft attempt so he was CONSIDERABLY weaker.) Amajiki is 2nd only to AFO himself in sheer quirk versatility with essentially every animal quirk combined AND the ability to mix and match in real time. And the combo value of these 3 covering each other actually locks up a ton of possibility. And seeing them as a unit that’s trained together for years against AFS? This is the biggest team up set up and paid off. We never got to see the Wild Wild Pussycats fighting together, we never got Gran Torino and Nana teaming up, we never got to see all sorts of agencies in full operation. So seeing this just makes me smile ear to ear.
Nejire has condensed shots like Bakugo’s AP shot that she has a LOT of free form curving with, but her saying it’s called Nejire Pike has me thinking she wanted his head on a pike. Which coming from her is INCREDIBLY violent and shows how little she’s risking anything when she honestly had one of the highest chances of killing AFS in season 6 purely for her good timing. Unfortunately Bakugo is a hostage so she has to back off to avoid hurting HIM.
Amajiki REALLY seems to be enjoying becoming Greek mythological beasts. First he’s Scorpio and poisons AFS. Maybe if we can’t get him with external damage we’ll try internal and see if that can get him on a time limit. Unfortunately AFS can now grow mouths (which I recall being apart of the quirk landscape in the OVA, so yes this is horrifyingly JUST something AFO can do) and he becomes a Centaur to get out of dodge. No one is having much luck staying close and AFS is STILL holding Bakugo by the neck.
And my boy Mirio enters the fray and IMMEDIATELY frees Bakugo. And I HAVE to give AFS credit here. The MOMENT he recognizes him from Jaku, he actually tries to hold a conversation with Mirio. He already knows anything can pass through him and AFS took him out quickly in the 1st war since he didn’t want to be swarmed by heroes AND deal with an opponent he couldn’t hit. (he got REALLY lucky with a jackpot strike to Mirio’s back on a surface he wasn’t guarding. I think he used the rivet stab auto tracking) And since AFS is keeping everyone away and can’t hit Mirio, AND is just honestly waiting for Deku to show up, so he has some time to kill. This is honestly SO satisfying seeing AFS just HAS to interact with Mirio and frankly only on Mirio’s terms. Trying to knock off his head? Nope. Trying to tear him apart? Nope. Fine. AFS: Your face is dumb.
Mirio: ‘K.
AFS tries to give the society failure talk but because AFO is more or less in command, we know it doesn’t carry the emotional weight it actually carries for Shigaraki. And even so, that frustration Shigaraki ACTUALLY has for society is likely from the same basis. Neither can convincingly make their point and Mirio calls AFS out IMMEDIATELY. AFO is a near god, and has done nothing but CHOOSE to be the most horrifying person imaginable. And Shigaraki we’ve seen it ourselves. The reason he found AFO is because there was LITERALLY nothing else. And what comes next honestly to me wouldn’t be HALF as potent if BOTH didn’t get hit on an emotional sweet spot.
AFS: I HAVE FRIENDS! MIKKU, TOMU AND MON! SEE TOLD YA SO! I’M A GOOD BOY!

AFS:…..
Mirio: uhhhh. Sorry? My bad?
AFS: …..(continues to divide by zero)
This was a mixture of hilarious, horrifying, and optimistic. There’s no two ways around it. That was Tenko Shimura that outburst. The little boy Deku saw INSIDE the vestige of AFS popped out because I can only assume it takes all 3 to be on the same page to happen, and the kid tends to be the loudest. Meaning Deku’s impossible mission is ACTUALLY THERE. He saw something not even the other vestiges could see. And the fact he showed up as Tenko and NOT Tomura was BEYOND disturbing. Like this poor kid couldn’t speak for DECADES, and he just got his 1st chance. But I also can’t ignore the UNREAL comedic timing of seemingly AFO shouting “I’M A GOOD BOY” in a manga translation, a long silence, and just COMPLETELY pretending like that didn’t happen. I was CRYING from laughter despite how terrifying that moment is in some ways. Finding the inner child of someone so horrific and all you’re thinking is what a monster he is…and suddenly you’re looking at a 5 year old. This was such a GIGANTIC mixture of widespread emotions and it’s so layered it sticks out SO WELL.
After that whole mess, AFS starts walking over to Bakugo to finish the job and Best Jeanist is NOT letting anyone get near his prized protege. And tries to return the favor of what AFS did to Bakugo. And trying to force AFS cape to prevent him from getting closer. But it’s just not enough. Best Jeanist is on his own fumes from fighting with only one lung. He can’t keep up with everything and he has a bad reputation with taking AFO blows.
Nejire is on the WARPATH and is just throwing EVERYTHING she’s got. Even when her stomach is ripped open and her cheek cut, she is DISINTEGRATING AFS’ arms even if she’s making no real headway. And not making headway reminds her of her likely middle school years. We have gone over how each of the Big 3 has the most popular personalities in high school, and Nejire has the social butterfly personality. She’s curious, she wants to get close to people, she wants to ask it all and hear it all. But in middle school? That’s…not going to always go the best. Most guys are too afraid to talk because either A, cooties, B, have a crush on her, or C because she’s unintentionally intimidating to those that don’t want to think about themselves as unique but as normal as possible. And for girls…yeah that’s not going to go well. Someone like Nejire catching everyone’s eye everywhere she goes and is always trying to get close? That’s a primary victim to mean girls that will want to do nothing but gossip against her to bring her down out of jealousy. And that’s depressing.
So she closed herself off until TAMAKI AMAJIKI OF ALL PEOPLE willingly approach her because he knows she’s in the same position he was in when he 1st met Mirio. You just need that extra push. (In his case? It’s DEFINITELY that guy with the glasses next to him that pushed this.) And Nejire takes that little push to wake RIGHT back up to immediately feel no fear talking to Amajiki because HE initiated so she knows he wants to talk. (Amajiki is horrified but he gets over it) These 3’s optimism, effort, and unkillable energy levels didn’t just inspire each other but the entire SCHOOL. So she’s going to do her best to honor all of them and just UNLEASHES to do max damage to AFS with 5 simultaneous blasts and 4 direct hits. And 1 she saved not for AFS, but for Amajiki to go off. (And yes I see Haya back there blushing up a storm with every move Nejire makes, but I also see Nejire blushing and honoring over Amajiki and her highlighting HIM as the one who let her wake up and how she KNOWS he can do this.)
Amajiki has made a CANNON out of a 12 animal combo and eating the surge energy. He’s gained his confidence and there’s nothing he’d rather do than help and honor everyone who got him here. And with one LAST blast he unleashes a kamehameha. Down to the effect, the color, and presentation. Pierces the sky and for good measure Mirio jumps in to knock AFS into the electric fence…and while it vaporizes the arms…it is not only STILL NOT ENOUGH, but it did LESS DAMAGE than Mirio’s energy punch which at least left a red mark!
So…that leaves what is to come. Another gambit on the horizon.
Is it weird that I find myself more engaged in the Big Three portion of this episode more than Bakugo's?
Don't get me wrong, I love/hate his moment as much as everyone else. But seeing this group that's been hyped up since the end of season three in action together, the seemless transition from exploring Nejire's character to Tamaki's, and the voice-acting and music.
All of this is satisfying as HECK, even if the final outcome was unsuccessful.
Also, I get the Plasma Cannon bit putting AFS down for good, but I call CAP on it not leaving a scratch on his body when Bakugo's Howitzer Impact: Cluster messed up half his face.
Not gonna lie, the funniest part of Tenko's outburst is Mirio'a confused apology after. Like, he's just too pure. 😅
Idk how to go about scaling this strength feat, but in a Team Up Mission chapter, Sato, Amajiki, and Mirio try to help FatGum bulk up from his skinny form. You can give a shot at calculating this, but the three of them condensed about a buffets worth of food into one dense 1 inch ball. And when FatGum ate it he instantly turned to his fat form.
@@HaydrogenBomb let’s just say Amajiki didn’t put his back into it that time when he used the plasma cannon. I was SO happy to see Mirio in full swing but I think Nejire actually got to show off an INSANE level today.
@@Kaempfdogto be fair to the plasma cannon not doing as much damage as the energy punch, shiggy does use his fingers to block it like a beam struggle, and we never see it directly hit his main body. Mirio had to escorts the energy close to shiggy and dodge the fingers for a direct hit for the energy punch
@@tobofu5978 yknow that’s completely fair. I think I made the same remark when Deku and Todoroki battled in the sports fest. Yes Todoroki can handle Deku’s OFA blasts to a point. But I’d doubt he’d survive if there wasn’t more than 50 feet of ice between Deku and Todoroki, which had completely VANISHED after every finger snap. So yeah that absolutely also applies to the plasma cannon. Likely wouldn’t kill, but would leave at least a mark.
I will never forgive Bones for airing this on Izuku's birthday!

I would say 8/10 mainly because I read the manga and I knew he was going to come back, but that still doesn’t mean I didn’t feel really really sad seeing him die

It's interesting how EVERYONE seems to overestimate Mirio's abilities against Shigaraki here. I'm not sure why though, while his quirk is amazing his strength is "normal". So while Shigaraki can't really hurt him, Mirio really can't hurt Shigaraki either.
That being said his intangibility does let him play pretty good support in this fight 😂
Mirio is super strong compared to civilians other Hero Course Students and even most average Pro-Heroes (remember he was going toe to toe with the Near High End Nomu last season and was strong enough to knock them around) but he is nowhere near what All Might was in his Prime so Shigaraki is way beyond his ability to hurt.
This is one of my most anticipated subjects in the entire show. I’ve been holding in for 6 and a half seasons everything I could about Bakugo in THIS episode and how I’ve built every last part of his character in these long analysis. I am well aware of every controversial take I’ve made about him across the show. And I wanted to service both the scene last episode and more than ANYTHING, the absolute power of THIS episode. Bakugo’s Rise and Demise
After getting freed by Mirio from what is honestly a HORRIFYINGLY long strangulation scene, Bakugo is left beside Best Jeanist. Best Jeanist just acknowledged him as a true hero essentially when Bakugo finally came to the conclusion people aren’t extras, and he wants his student out there because he knows the potential valve that just released for this kid. But…that’s not what we see. Bakugo for the 1st time in the ENTIRE SHOW is crying. Openly. We may have seen him on the verge of breaking into tears and him trying to wipe them away before they even appear in season 1 after he gets humbled by Deku, and season 3 where he eventually breaks down. He clearly WANTED to but he had too much pride and expectation to allow that. So him crying in front of Best Jeanist is basically saying he no longer has expectations or pride in himself after what just happened. And Jeanist seeing him break like this forces him to not further push expectations on Bakugo. He consoles him and says you did everything and more than any person could be expected to do against him. Your experience and style as great as it is…just doesn’t seem like it’s enough. So now we need you to rest.
Now I think Bakugo’s reply in the sub was better because it’s a fake out when you think he just agreed to submit and in a way it IS him submitting. Which SHOCKS Best Jeanist, but then as Bakugo continues to watch AFS and trying to memorize movement patterns instead, Best Jeanist is left in TERROR instead realizing that Bakugo in spite of what just happened to him, he wants to enter the fight AGAIN. And not just in any particular way. Bakugo’s style and experience doesn’t matter. So he’s going to try to use someone ELSE’S style he knows who does matter and they need THAT person here and NOW. And since he knows better than anyone how he likes to fight since they ALWAYS FIGHT…Bakugo is analyzing the fight exactly like none other than Izuku Midoriya.
We’ve seen this at the sports festival. Deku reaches a point where we think he’s reached the end of his rope, but then he re-evaluates the situation only to go AGAIN with more awareness and operation…despite that at that juncture is PRETTY consistent to get an audience response of YOU NEED TO STOP. But that wouldn’t really be in the name of willpower in the face of the insurmountable if he did that now would it? And because it’s Bakugo and not Deku, the respect people give to their favorite for doing this is much higher for some unexplainable reason despite many saying Deku is a weak character WHILE BEING BAKUGO FANS. THESE ARE CLEARLY MORE MANLY TEARS. They are so manly in fact his eyes are glowing and he’s begun to sparkle…and this hasn’t happened since the 2nd movie when he was the unofficial 10th wielder of OFA. That’s a change!
After the Big 3’s huge web of ultimate moves staggering into each other STILL not leading anywhere and not even burning off his cape….Bakugo stands up in spite of all his pain. And prioritizes to Jeanist to protect everyone that is NOT him. Blood is dripping everywhere from previous damage and Jeanist knows he can’t let him do this. But Bakugo has made up his mind. They need a complete victory and NO ONE believed in him more than Izuku did. And he wants to do right by both Izuku’s belief, but also his decisions. This field NEEDS Izuku and Bakugo essentially asked during the apology to be Izuku’s safety net so he has someone to fall back on when everyone found out Izuku has NO ONE to fall back on. And since he’s not here, the one who swore to be there to backup can and will stand so that way Izuku’s belief in him means something. And in ONE MOVE, Bakugo keeps one of his promises. “You’ve been watching everyone to learn and grow to get better. Well I can do the exact same thing and rise above even you, “Chosen One.” (S3E23)
He INSTANTLY blitzes AFS and blasts him in the face. He studied his patterns and is now predicting and rushing past EVERYTHING he does. Responding PERFECTLY. The ONLY person who has moved at this speed of being so untraceable in motion is none other than All-Might. Bakugo is at BARE MINIMUM moving Mach 30 and that is NOWHERE NEAR what he was doing throughout the rest of this fight. And he’s triggered a whole new style based on how he’s seen Deku fight the whole show. And more importantly since AFS is slower than Injured All-Might but close, being a Mach speed off or two is a GIGANTIC difference with hair in your face and a burned shut eye. He’s essentially made a full cowling and using sweat from all over his body to launch him EVERYWHERE. He doesn’t have to turn his body to move he can just launch from elsewhere. (Got to pat myself on the back for saying all his sweat works the same in season 5 when it was coming out. That’s 2 giant power ups I got.) This new state he’s in is just putting EVERYTHING he has into speed. And it’s causing him a TON of pain. This kind of thing bursting off him and the absolute respect he puts on Izuku’s name by knowing Izuku has been doing this all along and knows how to fight like this better than anyone. The house in the warzone is complete. There maybe no forgiveness but this is the better man I wanted to point out. This care...after much reflection has arrived. Needing all the lessons from his previous moments with Deku to truly realize he needs to be there for him and has to let him be there for Bakugo as well. THAT is the true Katsuki Bakugo no bullying.
This catches up to AFS who is getting more and more riled up because this upstart little brat is acting, and looking more and more like none other than the legendary 2nd wielder of OFA who happens to look VERY similarly to Bakugo. And AFO well over a century ago even held him by the neck the SAME WAY he was holding Bakugo earlier this episode. He has to remind himself he doesn’t have OFA…right? Because Bakugo is finding himself looking at All-Might’s vestige. And he takes the moment to apologize for being a punk….and he wants his autograph.
And then reality sets back in. This…was a mistake. A spectacular mistake that wrapped up in the most horrendous way that didn’t just taunt Bakugo, but taunted us, the audience, that this wasn’t inevitable. Explosion was never in my top quirks of this show because the recoil was unstable and couldn’t be overcome. His new form? ONLY speed. Not power, not defense. The explosion he hit AFS with were JUST his palms. So he wasn’t conjuring more for power. There’s no one on the face of the earth that can boost THAT fast and be able to control it perfectly out the gate for such a speed increase. And he hesitates thinking about Izuku…and he gets struck in the heart. And because of his new full body explosions…it triggers the absolute worst chain reaction possible. Full body explosion…and a WHOLE LOT of body is by the organs. And Bakugo’s heart explodes. The heroes were trying to get him out because they saw what was about to happen. And when he lands…there’s no one to catch him. The one he honored today and promised to be the support net for? Is also HIS support net. And he ran in with no net as he always swore he would. And he fell in the rain. Heartbroken. And we have to continue onward.
So I decided to add in a ton of lines from previous episodes to explain Bakugo's tragic mistake. Warnings Deku got that he did not. And I also explain what a House in a Warzone is. (Just in the replies here.)
We the audience have become the overhyping adults in S1E7 believing he could do this on his own. He was destined to be the best to SO MANY. People like with SaS thought against ALL narrative build up Bakugo would win with this power up. I fell for it too. When I set up my speculation for the 2nd war? I had Bakugo 1V1 Machia thinking Machia needed to keep his opponents high to reach max size. Now I look back and see that unlike all of the other main students…Bakugo is the ONLY ONE with no narrative opponent. Which also made him the main cast member most likely to die.
So allow me to show you some lines I pulled up that Bakugo just fell RIGHT INTO by following Izuku’s footsteps because there’s a CATALOGUE.
“I’m sorry Midoriya. You can never be a hero with that quirk. If all you can do is throw one punch before collapsing, then you are nothing but a liability on the field.” (Aizawa S1E5) Bakugo landed a total of 2 hits before collapsing with everyone trying to stop him.
“Nice try. But you’re a little stiff. And there’s discord within your mind. That’s why I bested you. Listen to me. The way you were using your power shows you were adjusting to the quirk. You understand its fundamentals. But your admiration and loyalty to All-Might are shackles to you.” (Gran Torino S2E14) Bakugo was distracted by his thoughts and admiration for Izuku’s will to fight like this. And it lead to him hesitating.
“We should switch up the training. If you get too used to fighting my distinct tactics you might develop some weird habits.” (Gran Torino S2E15) Bakugo only memorized one of honestly infinite patterns and moves and got right in his face while trying to do an upside down trick shot trying to stick to his palms.
“If you kids had gotten hurt it all would’ve been in vain. You’ve got some bad influences. You’re always rushing in to help no matter what I tell you. Destroying your body over and over again.” (All-Might S3E12) Setting aside All-Might’s 1000% hypocrisy for that lovingly stupid scene when All-Might forgot he was talking about himself, Bakugo endangered himself as others tried to protect him resulting in ALL of them getting hurt and traumatized watching this happen to him unable to get past AFS in time.
“To help others, you have to be able to take care of yourself.” (Deku S3E16) DEKU learned that unprompted! Bakugo ignored his own health and warnings of others to get involved as Deku would in early seasons.
“You have the power to be a symbol but you’re mediocre. Meanwhile villains are growing restless and gloom is creeping closer. You’ve looked unsure since this trial began. Fear and indecision are luxuries a top tier hero can not afford. It beggars belief. You devised only a single plan and it failed spectacularly leaving you worn out. The symbol of peace is gone. And people are not looking for a dim light but a dazzling one.” (Nighteye S4E3) Sir Nighteye basically showed the groundwork in every word he said during that fight for how someone would fall for their ideals without the capability to enact them. Bakugo’s presumed Symbol Title was the Symbol of Victory. Stuff that in with Sir Nighteye? Whoof.
“STOP TRYING TO WIN THIS BY YOURSELF.” (BAKUGO S6E10) This is just sheer irony. Tried to be Deku’s safety net and Deku wasn’t even accepting of it even if he wouldn’t say no, and he rushed in to do right by the person who he has accepted is HIS safety net….and he did this with his safety net not being present and no one there to catch him.
You could find DOZENS of lines across the show of Bakugo trying to enact his ideals for Deku’s sake, and he fails to make them while ALSO falling against EVERY warning and advice Deku has ever gotten. It’s heart wrenching because he JUST got the chance to become a better man and show that to Izuku to mend their relationship.
I have painstakingly gone through all of Bakugo’s mistreatments of Izuku and ESPECIALLY highlighted him after the rematch in season 3 because people just dusted their hands and said Izuku and him are friends at that point and all is forgiven. And EVEN MORE SO when season 6 came and showed what Bakugo was doing to Izuku leading up to the apology. And I did this for the express purpose to show why Izuku would NOT forgive Bakugo when that moment came, knowing Izuku flat out didn’t with a possibility of no forgiveness on the table at ALL. Plus he even gave Bakugo ways out of taking a route neither seemed comfortable with. (When he told Bakugo to keep calling him Deku if Izuku is so hard. Which basically means “If giving me worth in your head is so difficult, keep calling me worthless.”) But Bakugo chose to advance the healthier path anyway for them both as Bakugo in real time lets go of his guardrails after a bit more well needed reflection.
I have been building to what I call a “house in a war zone.” Which is how I describe a bully and a victim being not just friends but loyal to a fault. And it happens when the victim tries to be friends with their own bully, leading to FURTHER bullying but it sooner or later leads to the bully realizing that the victim, no matter what they do, they will always be there and accepts it. And they move on accepting each other. That is THE most accurate way to say how I view Bakugo and Izuku’s relationship. The process was an absolute NIGHTMARE, but hey now you got a roof over your head and a safety net to fall back on even if neither of you asked for it from each other. If you’ve ever taken this route, you likely would never repeat it, and the worth of the decisions needed for it to happen likely won’t be worth it til YEARS down the line and if you ever describe to anyone how you became friends, you’d likely be looked at like both of you are absolutely crazy. Yes he told me to jump off a building after physically tearing up my dreams, gave me multiple black eyes, beat the snot out of me on the daily, threatened my life genuinely, demeaned me in every conceivable way possible for a decade up until 8 months ago where he only recognized the part of me that came directly from his and my idol, continued to regularly demean me, continued to retaliate to kindness I gave myself, terrified hospital staff when trying to check on me in a way 7 people separately came to the conclusion I might be in physical danger when he tries including those ACTUALLY closer to me, and all training resulted in me being his target practice, but hey…he grew on me. The house is built…but at what cost? (I personally took this route 3 times. Some worked better than others, and 1 is verbatim how Bakugo and Izuku grew together. We got there and we made it worth it, but we both hate how he treated me because now we both know the level of care he is capable of and what he got from me, and we promised we’d be in this for the long haul because of what was lost to get there.)
Bakugo’s death is the death of the bully. He was never going to be a bully again. He took the time to listen and team up with everyone setting aside his Pride. Had he shown this side of himself to Deku…Deku STILL likely wouldn’t forgive him but would at least in time trust him. No more diving on Bakugo’s back to keep him from attacking kids. And they’d likely be completely honest with each other. And AFS took away that chance. And all you can think about is now Deku has to look at Shigaraki and STILL say you’re worth saving. Which is INSANE.
This is a MASTERPIECE episode….aside from certain attacks just…NOT WORKING. But this was a wonderfully terrifying and heartbreaking way to send off Bakugo.
i cant lie i dont fully understand what you're trying to say but izuku DID forgive bakugou a long time ago, or more like, he never felt that bakugou ever even needed to atone for anything. (although we all know he did, of course)
@@tanasiascottwe heard that from only All-Might. Who has a bad track record of knowing what is on his successor’s mind when it’s not heroing. If Deku forgave him a long time ago, Deku would have forgiven him in that moment that day. Or afterward. But he didn’t. He just let it hang in the air without acknowledging it. From Deku, that is a LOUD disagreement
Right?Theres not 1 scene after this that in anyway suggests deku didn't forgive him. Considering hori had no issues showing it with natsuo and endeavor he should have no issue showing it with deku if that was the case. The reality is deku barely had any interesting reactions after this to most of the major events in the story. @@tanasiascott

I personally read Bakugo's explosion as a symbol of his maturation and heroism, not OFA.
Their depiction has slowly changed throughout the series, and they're done so beautifully now.
It would've been very easy to screw up Bakugo as a charachter but thankfully Hirokoshi was quick to ease those issues and show us there was a clear plan in mind for him. Culminating in one of the best redemption stories I've seen in anything and I know some pretty fantastic redemption arcs. This episode was amazing for him showing how he still keeps his core traits but how much he's grown as well.

it looked like that in the manga, but it was because of Shigaraki. Horikoshi has a say in how the anime is represented. The hit from Shigaraki either directly punched a hole in his chest, or caused a detonation inside his body. either way, it was because of the hit.

This goes back to season 4 where we learn how Tamaki got the name Suneater, Mirio inspired Tamaki and helped to save him from his loneliness here we learn Tamaki did the same for Nejire. To me this is Horikoshi’s view on what a true hero is: someone who saves someone from their loneliness and despair, All Might did it for Deku, Deku did it for Shoto, Class A did it for Eri etc, while in the world of MHA the populous views the job of being a hero as using quirks to stop the bad guy being a true hero is helping others even without using your quirk much like how we began with the quirkless Deku saving Bakugo
Now as to the whole evolution of Bakugo’s quirk/is it the remnants of OFA from the 2nd movie it’s any argument that’s been going on for a while in the community and you are free to come to you own conclusions but whether people consider the movies are canon or not here’s the thing: if a fan only ever read the manga and never watched the movies Bakugo temporarily having OFA never takes place or is alluded to in the manga so the argument that Bakugo had “embers” of OFA and was speaking to All Mights Vestige falls on its face and we are forced to fall on the quirk evolution as described in the episode by Present Mic which we have seen referenced previously in the manga. Without giving away spoilers the “embers” theory also has holes later in the story so while you are not alone in thinking that was what was happening it doesn’t really track

Shigiraki did not stab Bakugo in the heart. His quirk evolving to a full body explosion in the process made his heart explode.

I think that was for sure all mights vestige chose to stay behind when the others went back to deku. Because allmight didn't have a quirk it wouldn't have had a bad impact on him. It didn't even really make him stronger. That was bakugos on strenght. He and all might where fighting together because that was the moment Bokugo became a true hero.
He was always going to be the first to die because he wouldn't have given it anything less than everything he had
