I was sat in the audience that day and I have to say that performance made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck! Superb. What a band.

How did they get the name of the transcriber wrong? It’s Bram GAY!

Man, I never knew that a band can play this loud. This is quite a band. Also, Franz Liszt didn't write this piece for it to be this loud. If he heard this recording, he would tell them it is way too loud.

@@explodingsausage6576 I agree. Franz Liszt didn't write this piece for it to be this loud.

With respect an interesting opinion , and you are not the first to say that . BBC Radio 3 actually took their time to broadcast Fodens performance a few weeks later . I would love to hear that to make an enjoyable comparison . Regards , Mark .

@@hansbjarning Interesting point , and sorry I'm almost on the fence . But it is a brass band contest transcription with respect . Mark .

I take nothing away from the players or the performance, the opening was dark and delicious but that arrangement was rubbish. So many counter melodies missing. Why churn this lifeless rubbish out when Frank Wright's arrangement is a hundred times better.

Hmm bold statement indeed , perhaps it was a more of a sport than music making in this arrangement ? I respect your comment though . Best wishes .
