CAVALERA has become synonymous with extreme metal music, a name that to this day still holds the highest regard, a family legacy built upon decades of musical aggression. In 2023, Max and Iggor Cavalera achieved what some would say was an impossible feat; they revisited their earliest releases, Morbid Visions, and Bestial Devastation, and re-recorded them with bone-breaking intensity. A risk that few would dare to even attempt, yet they artfully and prolifically attained their trademark raw sound by means that could only be described as magic or time travel.
It seems that the ball would not stop rolling as now they are entering the final chapter of their early-days trilogy. Schizophrenia is an iconic album in terms of early thrash and death metal, a household name for those of us invested in extreme metal. This was the point where the Cavaleras refined their dark, dingy, speed-influenced songs, into something a bit more mature, developed, and technical. Decades later, they have once more unlocked the asylum that is Schizophrenia, opening the doors to that banished, twisted recording which will be unleashed unto to world on June 21st, 2024 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Max Cavalera states, "The Third World Trilogy is finally complete with Schizophrenia, Bestial Devastation, and Morbid Visions, all three Brazilian underground gems! To me, Schizophrenia is the ultimate death/ thrash experiment! I was inspired to take on the world and this recording shows my commitment is relentless! This one is for all the generations to enjoy! Play at Max volume!"
Iggor Cavalera comments, “1987 was a very progressive year for metal, with releases like CELTIC FROST Into The Pandemonium, VOIVOD Killing Technology, and BATHORY Under The Sign Of The Black Mark, so it was no surprise on how we approached Schizophrenia pushing our boundaries from a black/death metal sound to a more thrash metal aesthetics. We still had some ideas from Morbid Visions and some new songs. I’m very proud of the songwriting and even more proud of our re-recordings.”
Schizophrenia will be available digitally and in the following formats:
- CD Jewel
- Light Blue Cassette (Ltd to 500)
- Sky Blue and Black Marbled Vinyl (Ltd to 600)
- Transparent Curacao Vinyl
Schizophrenia track list:
1. From The Past Comes The Storms
2. To The Wall
3. Escape To The Void
4. Inquisition Symphony
5. Screams Behind The Shadows
6. Septic Schizo
7. The Abyss
8. R.I.P. (Rest In Pain)
9. Nightmares of Delirium (New, never before heard track)
No stranger to collaborations, the Cavalera brothers enlisted Travis Stone (PIG DESTROYER) on lead guitars, and that choice becomes obvious within the first song. The full lineup would consist of more Cavalera alumni, as Igor Amadeus Cavalera (GO AHEAD AND DIE, HEALING MAGIC) once more brought his talents on bass to the fold. Thundering and thrumming the low end with brute force, it is clear that the double Iggor and Igor combination is a rhythm section to be reckoned with.
It should come as no surprise that the CAVALERA brothers always felt that these songs deserved a fresh take with modern production. From April 15th to June 5th, 2023 the band re-recorded the album at Focusrite Room in Mesa Arizona. Mixing and mastering was handled by Arthur Rizk (SOULFLY, GO AHEAD AND DIE, TURNSTILE).
Schizophrenia’s album cover has obsessed and fascinated fans for decades. The brothers left no stone unturned and no detail unnoticed, also revisioning the original cover artwork of the album, restored in hand-painted watercolors by Eliran Kantor.
CAVALERA is:
Max Cavalera | Vocals, Guitar
Iggor Cavalera | Drums, Percussion
Igor Amadeus Cavalera | Bass
Travis Stone | Lead Guitar

3 neglected albums that sounded like demos are now being turned into masterpieces. Absolute diamonds in the rough here. Love it.
I think that Schizophrenia was sounding allright. You could tell how great the music was. On the first two ones, the sound was just too bad.
Those albums sounded perfect for their style. I don't want some overproduced, weak sounding albums. But oh well i can't do anything about it.
@@Annihilation_0f_The_Wicked9066 they sounded weak before 🤷
@@mat.b. Nah! They sounded nice, raw and heavy. Especially for their time. A lot of modern metal metal sounds artificial, souless and weak. This will be no exception
I liked the raw sound of Schizophrenia. But it definitely deserves a more polished version. I can't wait to hear it next month.
I cant wait for a re recorded album Schiizophrenia, also i hope for the new Cavalera albums in Psychosis style 💪🖐️
All the crusty trolls in the comments hate fun. Nothing wrong with taking back what is rightfully yours. Slapping a new coat of polish on it. The original recordings will always exist anyway, people will find a way to bellyache. This is freaking awesome I can't wait to pop it into my truck stereo and rock San Jose! 🤘🤘✌️
Didn't see any trolls in the coments for now. They seem pretty cool for now (or maybe I missed them).
Deleting comments, that's why.
it's time for Sepultura to entertain its fans all over the world. please do it especially for your oldskool fans all over the world. time its running out... please rock the world one more time
we miss you guys
I'm seeing Cavalera Conspiracy on June 17th in Newcastle, England 😀
@@BobMonkeypimp nice...
Sepultura with max and igor lineup in our country, Indonesia in 1992, at that time teenagers here grew up with Sepultura posters on their bedroom walls and they are still in our hearts to this day...
I love the original Schizophrenia, Max vocals are also amazing on there. Still looking forward to this new version though! Last years releases were awesome so I can’t wait for this one. I already have everything pre-ordered!
Another masterpiece by Max and Iggor Cavalera
Congratulations guys
And thank you
It's amazing
Cant wait to hear Inquisition Symphony
🎉 cant wait for the album, sounds better than the original! Escape to the vooooid!
Max, I grew up on Schizophrenia and never ever been dissapointed by its sound. As a songwriter myself, that record was always a template for me
I love the new vibes on escape...some credit has to go to Andreas, his leads on the original really made them sound killer
He is a master
I was wrong, I thought they were going to do all the classic albums when this first got announced. Turns out they only wanna do Morbid Visions, Bestial Devastation and Schizophrenia. If that's the case then fair enough, but people will come back to this video if we see Beneath the Remains, Arise and Chaos AD re-recorded in the future.
why re-record, BNR, arise and chaos ad, they already sound great!
@DiegoFernandes-vv3qo Yeah I know, I thought they might have prior to Max saying otherwise. But it wouldn't surprise me if they did
@@JoshKeech fair enough!
Those days, everyone is trying to get scott burns to do their albums...
@@CivicFDNero True, he was the No.1 producer back then, for Extreme Metal
Nos vemos en Rockfest Barcelona amigos !!!
Pre-ordered 🫡
Love you guys since I've heard the first tone of your stuff.
I can't wait for the album. Rest in Pain is gonna kick ass
the original sound of Schizophrenia is PERFECT, with the tape saturator noise in the background also. it was so real that it sounds better than any recent release.
ah, the modern vocals are way worse than originals.
The Lord of Riffs blesses us once again.
🤘💀🤘🎸
This was a masterpiece album from Andreas kisser, He was amazing on this album !
True
bullshit from him, he can`t play nothing, nothing good did in his life
honestly, one of my favorite performances from him, hes not too present in the writing yet but some of his guitar work on that album is so melodic and beuatiful, very neoclassical sounding, an idea that he kind of abandonned on the next few records
Making a Masterpiece albums while they were kids? CavalerA are truly legends 🤘🏻😘
Pre ordered here. But I think it's disrespectful with Andreas. The guy took Sepultura to another level. I wish they re-recorded the album with original members, even in separete studios.
Absolutely!
I think schizophrenia is totally different from Bestial and Morbid. To me, is more connected to Arise, as Chaos is the first glimpse of Roots.
This is great because I wore out my Schizophrenia tape 25 years ago. \m/
I can't wait. Love these.
Album ordered of course, hi from Belgium
I cant wait for a Schiizophrenia. And i hope for a next Cavalera Conspiracy album , Psychosis was amazing
Очень круто ,первый трэк уже прослушал...как будто вернулся на 30 назад.....sepultura....это очень всегда,но только с братьями Квалера.......
Jamais 203 les gros ! Obrigado o irmaos cavalera ! You're da best
I cant wait to see you guys my dad used to rock out to yall back in the day hell yeah
I’m with a lot of you who love the original recording. But even when I got into this band in the early 90s, I was always curious as to what the songs would really sound like if they had an updated version or a re-recording. I don’t care if it’s for money. I’m sure that at the time when they were recording schizophrenia, the songs probably sounded so much better in person when they were rehearsing and playing them and that Was the best they could do as far as technology wise for recording the album & I’m sure it never really did sit well with them. So after hearing Escape to the Void & Troops of Doom I have to say it’s pretty damn impressive and there’s a different level of energy and intensity to the songs.
0:28 "Nothing to say , why then must we die"
Can't wait.
а я могу дождаться
Wow i cant wait. I also want a new Cavalera Conspiracy album, Psychosis was a killer album
You gotta love Max, he just loves what he's doing. He's always like a kid in a candy store 🤘😁🤘
Right on !
Unos verdaderos maestros del metal, los hermanos cavalera,ya estoy ansioso por escuchar como suena
Gracias por rescatar estos albums que son historia de la musica extrema
Thank you guys you're the F best
Though i love Schizophrenia analogue sound..it lacks the punchy bass drum and full bass guitar sound ( morbid vision is better imo) . Thx Cavalera for realising my wish to hear those songs rerecorded with better production..love the ETTV sound..cant wait to listen to the full album esp my fav song..screams behind the shadow
First to comment and a first-day buyer! 😈Escape to the Void is fire! 🤟
You NEED to hire Andreas Kisser for it!
agree
No Cavalera No Sepultura! Re-record those albums
Cavalara brothers are bad asses
Great!!!
Don't care about the naysayers... if there are any.... I've always wished the 1st three Sepultura records could have had better production. Once you get to Beneath the Remains, Arise, and Chaos A.D. you can clearly hear a vast production quality difference. These re-recorded albums server two great purposes. 1. They get to revisit the most nostalgic material possible and make them much better, and in all honesty there is potential to make them worse, but here they are definitely better. 2. Max and Igor can get the larger percentage of the proceeds from the sales of the new recordings from their own artistry in a way the recording industry should have ALWAYS compensated artists in the first place. I fully support these re-recorded albums for even that reason alone. Thankfully... they are really much better imo. Max's riffs and Igor's drumwork are on far better display here and I celebrate that.
Yessssss! 🤘🏻🎱🤘🏻
Didnt know Igor was into Modular!
CAVALERA do Brasil!
You need to do it with arise sound
Sick albumart!
Yea definitely going to get the tshirt too...better than the original cartoon work
Schizophrenia is an awsome album.
Os primeiros discos da banda merecem sim regravação com a tecnologia atual sem falar na agressividade e brutalidade fica ainda mais em evidência.
🤘
Nice!!!!!!
Do it do it!
🤘🏻
If you love shitty production so much go listen to the old recordings. Everyone else who wants to appreciate the sound more is on board with the re-recordings
Each to their own, really. I always thought Nirvana's Bleach album sounded best on tape. That cassette tape shittyness just fits the vibe more.
Eh, it's a decent novelty if you want to hear how they'd sound if they had a bigger budget but the original albums are good as they are. The production isn't shitty, you just have baby ears.
@@rohitchaoji I take it you probably headbang to the sound of your grandparents farting as well
@@Legions_666 Those farts sound better than re-recorded Morbid Visions for sure.
@@Legions_666 Anyway, to quote Sarcofago "If you are a false, do not entry, or you'll be burned and died". Shitty production in 80s extreme metal is a feature. You take it or you wear the hat that says "poser" for the rest of your days.
Per me i Sepultura siete Voi. Ciao da Firenze IT
Now make another Cavalera Conspiracy album after Schiizophrenia
ARISE también no se olviden
Schizophrenia my fav
I liked the escape to the void remake. Vocals were pretty good
good thing I got the albums already on vinyl cos nuclear blast doing a real shitty job releasing the new ones on super limited ed.
Iggor you have magnificent synthesisers 🤘🎹🤘

good idea
Max and Igor = True Sepultura 🔥
"...maeks mie vandr iff aw theis 1st 5 albams thej'r goinh tou riemaek tha last 2 Beneath the Remains y Arise."
Cavalera sepulturaaaaaa
I called this almost a year ago.
Schizophrenia is my fav ❤
Ultimately i agree, i could never get into Morbid/Bestial because the sound was so bad
Schizophrenia sounds a little rough, but when you get over it, the songs are insane
🤘⚡💀⚡💀🤘
Cavaleira conspirase e fodaaa de mais
❤❤❤❤❤ should re recorded all albums!
Schizophrenia is for me - EVEN with it's original sound - the best Thrash Metal record EVER!!!!!!
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Awesome 👍👍 hopefully I can get promotion copy got Bestial Devastation Morbid Visions both for $12 $6 piece Could not believe in East Village NYC
Cuando el billete $$$$ ya no alcanza, jajajajajaja, me quieren vender algo que ya tengo hace más de treinta años? Entonces todo éste tiempo viví engañado? Jajajajaja
Obs: coloquem pelo menos uma legenda em português. 👍
Only Because money. And living in past. NOT any value About this in my opinion. Also I think is Disrespectful too those guys was w band , when records was made.
I know the band since 1986 and fan since this year. Also i born in brazil in state neighbour Belo horizonte . Where band came. Respect to my opinion.
Listen to max words and he's right...the original recording sound so shitty back then..
With current technology they improved it for the fans to hear.
Nothing's wrong with that
Agree here. Contraversial stuff.
Cade a legenda em português caralho?!?????
Where is TROOPS OF DOOM??🗿🗿🗿🗿
Jairo T. and Andreas Kisser dislike this video. Those guys deserve credits for their hard work, Jairo in Bestial and Morbid and Andreas in Schizophrenia.
that album is perfect just the way it is....i don't get the hate from Max...
What hate?
🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🤟🖐️🇷🇺
Is Beneath The Remains getting re record
Don't think they will, because Max mentioned the trilogy, aka Morbid Visions, Bestial Devastation and Schizophrenia. But I could be wrong.
I hope NOT!
Not too likely considering Roadrunner Records owns the rights to that album as well as Arise, Chaos A.D. and Roots.
@@Gojirilla Ain't that a conundrum.
Idea to re-reford Schizophrenia: "Money".
however, it is approved
Yeah its so obvious they do not even need to make up stories to justify this. We all know its for money. And we all cannot wait for it to be relased
But... seriously... this is a virtue and not a vice. The record companies from the 80s/90s were so shitty with their 8% profits that the band members have to split between them. Fucking abuse in my opinion. Always has been. Re-recording the songs just means we get better versions AND Max and Igor finally get compensated in a way they always should have been in the 1st place for such great artistry.
Shttry studios in Brazil? Schizophrenia sounds better than beneath the remains
you deaf?
@@mpexus You are mongolic, rather
Schizophrenia is rawer than Beneath, but it certainly doesn't sound better
@@Annihilation_0f_The_Wicked9066 Only your opinion.
@@alejandroalcantarasoria2839 Nope! A lot of people think like me. Plus Metal is supposed to sound raw and heavy(not shitty). Think what you want i'm done here
Chaos AD should also be rerecorded. I was a big fan of the album when I was a kid, but nowadays I can barely listen to it, because it has aged very badly.
Terrible idea
"we cant make money on the new stuff so we are milking the sepultura albums"
I would love to hear how you guys would re-record Beneath the Remains, Arise, Chaos A.D., and Roots, but I'd imagine Roadrunner Records owns the rights to those and wouldn't be cool with that, not to mention those albums still hold up super well so you may not even feel the need to redo em.
Beneath The Remains redone would be cool. The production was improved for it but still middle of the road with what came after. Arise and what followed would be hard to improve on those recordings.
@@ReverendPONTI have a bit of a problem with the vocals personally, although they’re good, I don’t find them as good as the ones in schizophrenia and arise
Why would they re-record Roots or Chaos Ad? Those albums are recorded even better than anything nowadays, and it would be barely possible to get on that level, especially Roots, because of how it was done. It's kinda a unique record
Please re-record Chaos A.D. or Beneath the Remains. I need it
I like the re recording but not a fan of the drums the original drums sound way better
Saiu do Sepultura pra ficar tocando músicas do Sepultura 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Who cares what the internet smart a$$ marks think of them re-recording the first 3 albums, if they want to do it then they can do it. It's as simple as that, and the internet cry babies will deal with it either way!
Hopefully they re-recorded the faster version of Troops Of Doom while at it!
They need to continue to re-record Sepultura albums, even the ones they had nothing to do with. Do the entire discography.
Lies, lies, lies...
Já foi bom , mas agora são uns véius chatos pra caral.o
The idea was to re-record songs that you wrote so that you can monetise them to the maximum.
Why not just be honest about that? More people are interested in this than in CC, Soulfly or whatever other project Max has going on.
I bet you're fun at parties. Who really cares? Musician wants money for their music - Shocker!!
Schizophrenia's sound is the part of gloomy atmosphere. And it's the sound of that epoch. And now the fellaz gonna make digital overproduced version of it with modern sound... looks not so good. I agree that first 2 records may be needed to be rerecorded, but Schizophrenia...
Ahnnnn agora vc diz q os estudios BR eram uma merda, tá sérto Max Fivelinha
No Kisser = No Schizophrenia
No Max & Igor = No Sepultura
