I remember watching Death Note and for the life of me could not figure out whose voice that was playing L. Then one day, since I watched Battlestar Galactica long before Death Note, it finally hit me. Alessandro Juliani does a magnificent job as Gaeta and as L. Always loved this scene, so saddening and deep.
Apparently, as this was recorded live, according to Bear McCreary himself, when they filmed this, much of the crew was in or very damn near close to tears. That’s how powerful it is.
"Poor Gatea he's everybody's bitch in BSG. First he took crap from Baltar, then he was almost thrown out the airlock, now his leg has been sawed off by Doc Cottle. Call this a shot in the dark, but if cylons have the ability to create mechanical people, couldn't they make a mechanical leg for our pal Gaeta? Bring Gaeta a love interest stat, he's so sad it makes me cry." This one's directly from Bear McCreary's BSG Blog.
it was at this moment that this show truly solidified it's place in history as the greatest show of all time. both this scene, and the piano scene with six playing the same melody thats on the kara's coordinates track... words cannot even begin to describe.
Yes me too.....If only he was real.....He would be the only one who could understand me....If only he was real to just be aware of how much he taught me and how much I love him....😭
Not a big BSG fan but I searched through 14 episodes to find this beautiful song. Moved me to tears, one of the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard.
@yarealpoof Like I said, the shock of finding that the hopefully safe harbor of Earth was a radioactive, cold, wet ball of slag must've had quite an effect. Pres. Roslyn just went to her quarters, D. killed herself, Felix must've snapped, too, after a fashion.
Before I watched this, I had watched/heard other fan-made videos with this audio, featuring Juliani's character, L ("Death Note"). I pictured a man sitting in his hospital bed in broad daylight. He is close to tears, hence 1:15 Then, I think he falls to the floor and a woman calls out his name, and a screen shuts off. The man weakly stands on his hands, and that 'thump' is him collapsing.
@ShionHigurashiMion seems like it. Poor Lawli seriously gets screwed over. And everytime I hear this song I can only imagine L singing this to Light :(
@yalinegurl1 I understand, I'm a BSG fan myself, but I think it's the idea of L singing that people love. And the fact that the song sort of fits his character.
One of my favorite scenes from this show. The full orchestrated version actually brought tears to my eyes. This, though... Definitely chills down my spine.
Judging by the comments, I appear to be one of the only people who watched Death Note in Japanese. Either way, epic song-though I prefer the CD version.
@GodessOfMoon L is from the anime/manga Death Note. The man singing in this video, Alessandro Juliani, is the English voice actor of L. If you like anime, you should check it out ASAP! Death Note is the best anime/manga ever made!
@chaosalbedo It was excellent ! Felix & Dualla turned into such tragic characters after " Revelations ". I felt bad for them even though I know they're fictional.
@MayaTheSparklyDino The hybrid, which controls the basestar, gives the order for the Cylon Basestar to go into Faster Than Light travel. Yes, it makes no sense without context.
Close...It is in the description, * Alone she sleeps in the shirt of man * With my three wishes clutched in her hand * The first that she be spared the pain * That comes from a dark and laughing rain * When she finds love may it always stay true * This I beg for the second wish I made too * But wish no more * My life you can take * To have her please just one day wake
This is awesome cos I love Death Note and BSG but when I watched this episode ages ago I never knew it was L! Craziness! Doesn't really sound like him though... ^^
alessandro is a awesome actor. he's really nice , i watched a fan video with him in it. he stops and talks to 3 fan girls for awhile, they were so lucky because he wanted to meet them again the next day to talk more.i love him as L.
He has a good voice, and this show is done extremely well. I'm sad it's ending so soon. All the good shows are the hardest ones to keep on tv it seems. I'm stuck with 50 million reality shows.
I love how this is about Battle Star Galactica, yet everyone comments about how this is L's voice. XD =) But L does own. He's the only reason I'm actually watching this video right now, no offence inteded to the show. I was just saying that if it wasn't for a video I saw with L singing this song, then I would've had no idea BSG existed.
thanks for the vid this is the most amazing piece i cant wait for the soundtrack release and i hope its on there Bear McCreary's music for all the seasons is such an inspiration to me as a writer and as a person it's so emotional such an amazing mix of culture it has just blown me away, beautiful.
Thank you so much for putting this on and putting it all together!!! This is a GREAT way to hold off til the soundtrack comes. Beautifully written, hauntily portrayed.
I remember when my mom was watching this episode of BSG and I was walking by the room. At the time, I didn't know that Alessandro Juliani was in the show so when I heard him singing, I ran into the room yelling "L?!". Needless to say, my mother was amused
haha someone took this song and dubbed it over Death Note so that it looked like L was singing it lol it was the scene where L's standing in the rain and it was really good *smiles*
OMG! I write my opinion in Hungarian (maybe there's someone who understand it): ez a legjobb sci-fi sorozat, amit valaha láttam! And in english: this is the BEST sci-fi show I've ever seen! BSG Forever!!!
I have been listening to this over and over again. Thanks for posting! Tip: put &fmt=18 at the end of the link in the address bar above to see it with better video and sound quality!
what's up with all my favorite scifi people being on anime? :) Alessandro Juliani has a great voice - he's a classically trained opera singer. This episode really made him shine. Too bad the storyline was so grim!
@yarealpoof I remember w / Gaius was with him acting as a chaplain, sort of. Gaeta said " No more religion " or something similar. It was like he had given up on everything, including the remnants of Colonial society. I hated it when they had Dualla kill herself, too. It seemed pointless, esp. since her character had more unexplored potential. Felix got w / he deserved, legally, at least.
Listen closely. There are actually a few clues to the season here, according to Ron Moore. Anyways, this was great. He did a great job. I wish I could buy this off Itunes.
This was the first episode of Battlestar Galactica I ever saw. I was surfing around on Hulu and while I had never seen it, people I knew made it sound like I was missing something really good. Boy, watching this one episode made me run out and rent this series from the begining.

'What a way to discover such a beautiful voice'
- Laura Roslin, President of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol, formerly Secretary of Education
A fracking teacher? That's who you're taking orders from?

Hoshi is sweet. And Gaeta too. It is a cute pairing, for sure.
And his best friend Dee suiciding immediately after he exited the room.
he has such a sweet voice...it's a beautiful song :)
i started crying when gaeta sang his song in this episode, oh god, why is it so unfair!!
One of the best episode endings of all time. Of any show.
My Ryuzaki! !
this is so sad .. L T_T may you rest in peace

All I hear is L ;-;
R.I.P my love... We all love you L Lawliet :,(
SammyKid1104 Spoiler alert godammit
SammyKid1104 Aw, Thanks ^-^

10% - Having something to do with what Gaeta gotten into
90% - L from Death Note
00% - Toa Vakama from Legends of Metru Nui
Yes 🗿
Vakama oh my goodness my childhood😭😭😭
Beautiful......
Allasandro has the most gorgeous voice ever.
Miss you L...

Yeah,you're right!
An incredible moment in an incredible series. His singing gives me shivers.
So say we all.
beautiful
thanks.
amazing.
alessandro juliani's voice is obviously trained. He sings very technical even he is lying.. very good, this is a perfect scene, thank you!!!
It was an heartbreaking moment, but the song is so beautiful and his voice is just awesome
Great song!
Judging by the comments, I appear to be one of the only people who watched Death Note in Japanese. Either way, epic song-though I prefer the CD version.
I watched it in Japanese first as well as I generally prefer subs, but he actually made a really good L in the english dub
@InternetCancer000
The voice actor though ^_^
This is awesome! Such a haunting song
aww...
True..He is "a graduate of McGill University in Montréal, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal/Opera Performance" after all
Also his parents have proffesional backgrounds working in similar fields.
@GodessOfMoon

The actor has also had operatic training in college (Bear McCreary mentions it in his blog). What a lovely voice! :)
L can sing!! *Squeee!* What a voice!
Gaeta was such a great character
great voice und beautiful atmosphere in this song =)
juliani's voice is so beautiful
I nlove him

Thank you very much for putting the parts together
Yeah, the actor studied classical music...hard to believe he also was the voice of Gambit on X-Men: Evolution. Talented guy!
i just love this show , its so powerful , so epic
Fantastic composition of music and lyrics, Felix's voice is awesome...
All I have to say, is he has an amazing voice. I wanna see this show now. My mom watches it, but I've never seen it.
That's because Allesandro Julliani (or however you spell his name....) is the voice of L in the English version of Death Note.
deathnote is good but you guys gotta get on this BSG tip, amazing.
I love that way you connected all those scenes together.
I love how this is about Battle Star Galactica, yet everyone comments about how this is L's voice. XD

Una canción preciosa
I have to watch BSG now because of Aleesandro. I am a huge L fan... and the fact that he acts too... I'm blown away!
thanks for the vid this is the most amazing piece i cant wait for the soundtrack release and i hope its on there
Bear McCreary's music for all the seasons is such an inspiration to me as a writer and as a person it's so emotional such an amazing mix of culture it has just blown me away, beautiful.
hope this goes on the soundtrack
Thank you so much for putting this on and putting it all together!!! This is a GREAT way to hold off til the soundtrack comes. Beautifully written, hauntily portrayed.
shoutout to Gaeta eSports the number 1 mid team
div?
Felix was a great character, I pitty him ..
this song is really really nice!! i think it's cool that he plays the voice of L in death note.
I can definitly recommend it. This show is vastly superior to Star Trek, and one of the best shows I have ever seen.
I remember when my mom was watching this episode of BSG and I was walking by the room.
At the time, I didn't know that Alessandro Juliani was in the show so when I heard him singing, I ran into the room yelling "L?!".

wow.. this is so sad makes me cry every time but i also like the song
haha someone took this song and dubbed it over Death Note so that it looked like L was singing it lol it was the scene where L's standing in the rain and it was really good *smiles*

This show made cry so many times.

@hotaruxsasuke1233 well, at least at this part he's not dead!
*L* R.I.P ! :(
Gods, I miss this show.
@yarealpoof

And I’m sobbing dude
Oh, this is just fabulous. My heart aches every time I listen to it. Thanks for putting it together and putting it up.
This Juliani performance always makes me cry. Gaeta's not a hero of mine but his story touches me deeply.
thank you ^^
Amazing episode from a truly amazing series...
@gelus4ever Laura Roslin from the show.
~L~ changer of the world.
I really loved the character Gaeta. Too bad what happened later to him when he trusted the wrong man.
That was very moving... I've never even seen the show and I still feel sorry for that him.
Nobody should have to die in pain like that...
Moves me to tears. Gaeta is a great character.
Listen closely. There are actually a few clues to the season here, according to Ron Moore. Anyways, this was great. He did a great job. I wish I could buy this off Itunes.
i sometimes watch the series just for the music..
this one is a masterpiece..
Damn this song is so good, and Gaetas voice is beautiful, amazing song yet again from the BSG boys.
@JohnnyRadiohead Exactly for that reason ; ) .
OMG!! i know right!!! but i watched BSG bf death note even came out!!! i miss L =[[
This was the first episode of Battlestar Galactica I ever saw. I was surfing around on Hulu and while I had never seen it, people I knew made it sound like I was missing something really good.
Boy, watching this one episode made me run out and rent this series from the begining.
i was just waiting for some one to put this together. nicely done! thankyou!
I am utterly in love with this man's voice.
Thank you UnconfermedDATA i was wondering which series this came from. This song is beautiful in a melancholy way.
You said it Kairixriku! :D
this is stunning.. makes you almost cry.
Beautiful song, and Alessandro Juliani really has an amazing voice.
Wow, haunting melody. This guys voice is amazing
