what causes people to get things wrong, even if they were eyewitness to something?
they respond to questioning with bias....and images...not the facts...an easy argument to make but a very hard reality for people to accept...it partly explains ALL argument and why things never get resolved
At least in philosophy, it requires one to first identify and comprehend the argument before trying to refute it. In fact, it teaches you to be critical of even views you yourself hold. I've found myself more and more naturally while reading things that I will likely always agree with, contending not only with the reading material but with myself 😂
In order to see the facts, you must observe without judgement. Most people seem unwilling or unable to try this.
There are many types of facts and some facts are are simply more aligned with the dominant culture
There are no facts that support love. Love is wise, but it isn't in facts or truth, we don't have the slightest idea what it is, and that is as it should be.
I wonder if Russell ever let ived ong enough to see studies on cognitive bias
The Truth atoms
Unfortunately, that is just theoretically impossible... Unfortunately people just made judgements with different wild sources and resorts in ad hominem if confronted
Unfortunately in 2022, it's all feelings over facts.
Yes, with both the conservatives and the liberals.
One of the greatest philosophers of 21 st century
More like 19th and 20th
Bro died in the 70s
Knowledge still comes down to justified true belief. Facts are not all that matters. One also has to take into account how little they know. Things can be true will minimal facts or evidence.
Didn’t gettier cases sort of dismiss the notion that knowledge is JTB?
Absolutely not. Facts are the only thing that matter. Period.
For a true belief to be justified it must bear out scrutiny with evidence and facts...
@@Sam-_-Well gettier problems have certainly sparked debates within epistemology, but there doesn’t seem to he any consensus. For the time being, we cannot appeal to endoxa.
Talking about truth and teasing all the postmodernists out there
