Dang. Truth bro. Rip
I imagine those who have not read any of his work might be surprised at how funny he is
who came here after rick and Morty 😂
I have horrible tinnitus. I can't ever be in a quiet room. I long for silence.
Huh??😂😂
* Emerson * Emerson * Emerson * “Lessons From An American Stoic”……Philosophy Must First Teach Us How To Uplift Ourselves And Catapult Us Into “Awe and Wonder” thereby giving us the succor we need to traverse the trials and tribulations of outrageous misfortune……then after we are adept at the art of living can we begin to dive in to the world’s philosophers 🦅
This is so profound. I don’t think I could watch a longer version though.
Accurate
This is profound! Thank you for this clip!
Nope, not ever going to take any life advice from a suicide.
*WAIT* This isn't Jason Sudeikis 😮
I like reading, but i cant get myself to start, so i dont read.
I enjoy reading but i totally get this. My attn span is garbage and I think ten pages is probably the most I can read in one sitting, even if I'm enjoying the book.
One of the greatest books ever put to paper, and one that has so profoundly affected me and caused change in my own life. Reading about someone who is trying to do his best and be the best he can be is very humbling. It causes any honest person to determine to do the same.
Noise pollution is real!
And bros know that you shouldn't always follow his advice You should be as much free and open to experience as determined and close minded Like read anyone you like you can even read marquis de sade and adorno if you like them both Just have fun
Silence is Sacred. So many people cannot spend time with themselves.
Hi Robert, what was Albert Camus life task in your words?
It is about sponsorship. If somebody is providing it in the right environment the world is at your finger tips. Very rare to find in a bedroom, public library, or in some coffee shop or cafe. People know who the literate one is and the feeling of guilt overshadows real progress. For years I have been living that...
This was from a speech the Theodore Roosevelt made in 1910 I think on April 23rd at the sobrunne and it is widely considered the third gradest speech in history before the visiting heads of state and 3,000 guests , it is widely considered to be the third greatest speech in history, behind the Gettysburg address by Abraham Lincoln & and the I have a dream speech by Martin Luther King, and when I saw Donald Trump enter the arena at &Madison square garden with Dana White and Tucker Carlson next to kid Rock I think Teddy would have approved!
If I have to sit with my thoughts for even a second, I instantly regret it.
...do you describing the impact/importance of books or the feeling you got?!
Sacred silence, that thou art. Floodgate of the deeper heart. Offspring of a heavenly kind, Frost o’re the mouth, And thou the mind. - Flecknoe
I wonder if Russell ever let ived ong enough to see studies on cognitive bias
I recently made a video on boredom - and DFW's words strikes right to the heart of it. There's a kind of dread in the idea of having to be alone for a while.
I love myself the most when I’m alone.
I love DFW, but I wish that he wrote the way he spoke. There's a different tone and passion in his speech, and I would have liked to felt that in his books.
David Foster Wallace was an incredible writer and thinker of our century. I miss him 😢
I have tinnitus...enjoy your silence because i have none lmao
And even if you find a quiet space that you want to invite other people into to have meaningful conversations... you find the dread of how loud and out of place everyone else in a quiet space.
My vital aliveness to save the world is in changing the rules with The World Fairness Agreement. It is my bliss.
I don’t think he was saying that u can’t or shouldn’t try to change the rules, just that it doesn’t necessarily have to be the only way to change the world. The world can be impacted greatly by smaller, more personal things as well!
The truth
In order to see the facts, you must observe without judgement. Most people seem unwilling or unable to try this.
Rare footage of Davie without the dew rag. He seems peaceful here. When I knew him, his head was always about to explode.
i think he started to wear it only on the ever so often in the 2000s once it became expected of him
Many introverts cherish silent solitude.
This was such a helpful starter blueprint for a dense and overwhelming subject. Much appreciated!
Sam Hyde is a feminist
I have got the books 'Beyond Good and Evil' by Friedrich Nietzsche and 'The Origins of Knowledge and Imagination' by Jacob Bronowski.
Grocery store music is psychological terror, in most bars and restaurants it feels very off aswell.
I wouldn't mind at times if it was some Jazz from the 50's or classical music but with few exceptions, it is the most vapid and generic canned music that is soul crushing and just feeds my hatred for society.
My favorite is 'Truth : Shall set you free' by Aman Jain. I read it recently and his philosophical ideas and introspection of the complex phenomenon of life is marvellous, and present an untraditional way of viewing the world. It is the most thought provoking book in my opinion.
Can you share the link of the book? I don't seem to find this book with the title.
The irony of watching this on UA-cam shorts.
One of the greatest philosophers of 21 st century
creativity stems from boredom, and nobody is bored since social media, hence the decline in creativity
The irony of watching this on a UA-cam short.
Nicely done!
Lold
I think of these as bread crumbs leading people to the reality of the message 💚
😂😂👏👏
what causes people to get things wrong, even if they were eyewitness to something? they respond to questioning with bias....and images...not the facts...an easy argument to make but a very hard reality for people to accept...it partly explains ALL argument and why things never get resolved
there is no meaning of life...... just distractions, which make us forget that life is meaningless...... once you turn those distractions off, suddenly you can hear the "demons of meaninglessness" - me
You humans with all your silly ideas of meaning. You make your meaning silly
Taking for granted life being pointless, wouldn't it be rather absurd to feel one way or another about that fact? It's irrelevant if that's the case.
"Philosophy should be fun, it should be exciting..." This is a normative assertion which stands to be substantiated, a task which is not clearly achievable and which many people do not consider "fun and exciting."
America is never quiet ever. People talk loud, have phones on speaker, play Bluetooth at the park and party speakers in their yard. Coming from Europe, I couldn’t believe how loud the US is. There is nowhere quiet. Even national parks everyone camps in RVs and plays music or sets up TVs.
the dread is because they don't want to face things alone.
look up "progressive echoes of ancient truth" and you will see Campbell's face ❤
