These guys were so young when they produced this great music. I bought all of their albums back then. My son pinched them all a few years back, and now he's hooked too. Paul Kossoff was a brilliant guitarist, he played with his heart and feeling.
Booker T & the MGs , Paul Riddic and Buddy Guy just to name a few of the Hundred Blues artists CDs I have , then I heard Free for the first again in 40+ years , I bought 6 of their CDs because of the Uniqueness' of these four Musicians. Nearly 80 now , but I got blown away by them.
A truly exceptional band, it's a shame they split when they did. Of course we then had Bad Company, just as good in my humble opinion. I think as a singer Paul Rogers was amazing, his delivery had power with a rich tone, very appealing !
From the "Free At Last " album. When I heard this song on the radio, i had to buy the record come payday. Rock n roll in 1972 was pure magic to my teenage ears. These kind of songs helped me try to make sense of living thru my high school years in Tamp Bay. I still get a funny feeling inside when listening to this track. To this day, I still believe Paul Rodgers is the best voice in rock. There is a great live version of this song he did a few years ago on his Irish Tour album. Check it out@
Surely one of the best and most underrated blues rock bands ever. Saw them live in Stockport in 71 and they were outstanding. How? Paul Rodgers was, and is, one of the best vocalists ever - just ask the surviving members of Queen for their approval rating and let's not forget Bad Company. Paul Kosoff was a real gem, never heard him play a duff note. Sadly missed. Andy Fraser was a bassist who played it like a lead guitar, so versatile and Simon Kirke was like a heartbeat with those loosened drum skins. All in all, one of the best bands ever. Amen.
Why do people say Free were underrated? Who underrated them? The top musicians of the day didn't, and no one since has! Blackmore said we were lucky to have them, Clapton asked Koss how he got his tremelo so good. Fantastic band, every one of them, underrated, Never!!!
Maybe under appreciated is a better term because they are. I'd say the majority of people you'd ask couldn't name more than All Right Now and Wishing Well as Free songs.
I totally agree with you Jimmy, I first heard them as a 13 year old on a juke box in a cafe In Portmadoc ,all right now was no 2 in the charts what a band! I was lucky to see Bad Company and Richie Sambora in Manchester in 2017. It was only half full . Do you know why, I guess it was the price of the tickets. The classic rockers like me( I am 65 ) just can't afford it any more.😃😁🤩🤭
Paul Rodgers is Blackmore's favorite singer. He even did participate in rock aid 1989 because there was Paul, usually Blackmore doesn't participate in any pop rock events. And yes Ritchie liked Kossoff's style. There is the video on UA-cam where Blackmore played on Kossoff memorial concert.
I had forgotten this song I listened to them originally all those years ago but they faded from my memory (68 years old) and I have just started listening to them again ....real musicians making music you don't get much of that these days
So much going on in this track so many twists and turns and all under 3 mins. Drums, bass, piano, mellotron, tambourine, vocals and numerous guitars, a long way from the sparse sound of the live band ( before Rabbit joined)♥️🙂👍🙂♥️
Some great pics of the band that I've never seen before. Thank you very much. What a shame they had to split when they did. It was 50 years ago right now, the summer of 1970, that All Right Now made it big, ha! I met Helen of Derby. Although for me, that was one of their least attractive songs. Still, you gotta have a little bit of a hit in your life :)
To each their own. I take free anytime over whoever. Two different styles of music. Free was a great rock band with Rodgers. Queen basically was a girly band.
I can't believe Queen fans were dissing Free ... I LOVE both bands. I can't believe that anybody with a brain could not love them both! Freddie and Paul are, in my opinion, the two greatest rock singers EVER. And Koss and Brian are two of the greatest rock guitarists ... I was thrilled when Queen asked PR to sing with them, and I enjoyed their collaboration. Just because it wasn't exactly like Queen or Free or BadCo doesn't mean it wasn't good! Hell, it was better than the FIrm!
@@davidbroadley126 What a complete plonker you are David. I hope you don't have any ambitions of becoming a bonifide music critic, Because if you do, I suggest you apply for a cleaning job.
Not a prolific singles band, they only had four UK singles hits and they were in the early seventies ! But what classics they were and totally different in their style !

The older I get the more I realize just how great Free was. One of the greatest blues/ rock bands of all time!
No question whatsoever !
Yes!!
Not one of - the best
Absolutely right
I feel exactly the same…
Pure brilliance
Koss, Rodgers, Fraser and Kirk..... what a tremendous amount of talent....

Just one of the best bands ever
Paul Kossoff, the original 70s lead guitarist. Clapton was in awe of him.
My favorite band! Free has the best sound, the best lead singer, the best everything!

R.I.P. Koss and Andy. Keep rockin', Paul and Si!
Saw them at the Fairfield halls 1970 were great then still sounds great now at 68 😊
Super group all brilliant musicians never be bands like this anymore paul Rogers one of the best singers in rock and still is today 👌
Best rock band of all time.
Some of the best music of all time came from Free.
Still rocking to free in 2020

Simply the best UK band of the late sixties early seventies.

Saw nearly all the bands in the 70s and Free stood out.
Im in my 70s now and this music never fades.
I had forgotten how great this song was, thanks for posting.
Free are a once ın a lıfetıme example of how four guys are able to come together as one. They were unıque ıncomparable really, INCOMPARABLE!
The funky bass, the ringing guitar figure and the VOICE......yes, yes and yes!!!!
Less than 3 mins wat a track and thanks life on Mars and pans people u did this wee track proud love it 🤘👍

Kossoff was better than Clapton and rodgers is better
Kossoff blinded clapton and no one and I mean one will ever beat paul rodgers behind a mic he s a god at singing

Wonderful tune
One of my all-time favourite songs from this amazing band...and what an inspiring bass part on the intro.
So much going on in this track so many twists and turns and all under 3 mins. Drums, bass, piano, mellotron, tambourine, vocals and numerous guitars, a long way from the sparse sound of the live band ( before Rabbit joined)♥️🙂👍🙂♥️
Sublime song and I loved the photos! Takes me right back to when I saw Free then, Paul looked so good in his studded flared jeans! RIP Koss and Andy.
Two minutes thirty seconds of absolute bliss.
Rock heaven
It's the notes he decided not to play that leave me in complete reverence , a genius who touched my life in a massive way.
0.24 Simon Kirke's looking buff! Whoa!!
Thanks for sharing this with us all. 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠
Life on Mars anyone else? What a tune
A lot more soulful than I remember, great tune!
Criminally underrated band, they were so good.
Not by the right people😝
Underrated band,Paul Roddgers,Paul Rodgers,at the top of their profession.
Paul Kossof ,even on this,is just in the back, but still ,super cool, beautiful lines. sadly missed.
Tragic. I came through the heroin trap and everyday is a blessing. God Bless Koss.

Great song, nicely presented.
I still have that music book of the Free 😵
Best ever band for me, it hurt to hear Queen fans dissing lol
Queen wasn't even a pimple on Free arse
To each their own. I take free anytime over whoever. Two different styles of music. Free was a great rock band with Rodgers. Queen basically was a girly band.
I wish I saw one of the Paul Rodgers with Queen shows. Classic quality Free, Bad Company, and Queen all in one package.
Love it. Having said that, Joe Cocker did an excellent cover of this song.
Nah not having that cocker not I the same league as rodgers
very very good all.......................................................................
Dont worry about it look at all the great actors that never got oscars
saw these guys open for Rod Stewart & Faces, at Tampa Stadium '71 or '72

I would imagine it was only the Queen fans with small imaginations and lack of knowledge about Rodgers' and Free's back catalogue.
