Always love seeing that ole girl put in work I can’t wait to hear what she sounds like straight piped another great video. This is one of the main reasons I came to your channel was because of your GMC 2500. I had a truck just like yours. Unfortunately I sold it had to thanks for another great video man.
Had 18k of busted concrete behind my 454 powered 97 K3500 recently. These ol big blocks don't really care about dragging it, its just stopping it that can get interesting. Id get some of the factory dually overload springs for your truck too, they should bolt right on.
With the 6.6 gasser not getting the best reviews (even with the 10spd) I hope #GM starts to think about bringing back the larger engines like the 7.4, 8.1 & yes even the vaunted 4.2 would be nice to get a come back. No fancy cylinder shut down just proper tuning & transmissions please
I have a 2024 6.6 gas 3500 it works great. I have been gross out over 25000lbs with it a few times. I don't know where u heard that from. 6.6 doesn't cut cylinders
@@bigmurph1447 have heard that they don't cut the cylinders just that people have been disappointed / let down by lack of "power" with the 6.6 L8T, the choice of a couple larger engines would be nice & given the advancement in metallurgy, cylinder head design & tuning the 7.4 would be a real stump puller let alone if they brought back the 8.1/8.2 options (friends dad in highschool had a 502 8.2L in his 2500 cat eye) as well regaining the "king of the hill" displacement war going on.
The best thing you can ever do for that 8.1 is put a TR4050 behind it, I have owned 4, 8.1 trucks one with ZF 6 spd, Allision 4 speed /Allision 5 spd, 4l85e... the only issue with the ZF was the clutch kits were garbage. The allisions ate too much power yet were damn near indestructible. Best year IMO 06 factory removed EGR.
What is that on the hood? I luv the 8.1 on the road hate it at the gas pump. I'm just glad to see a truck being used as a work truck thats quite rare nowadays.
@@JeffreyWindley-n4i I don't think so. We'll see what he says though. Lol I have a 2017 Silverado I'm putting together o just bought with 46,000 miles. Currently putting Eaton lockers and 411 gears. Plan on going with 36 or 38" tires. 513s are pretty steep for it to come from the factory, unless ordered.
Just a truck doing what a truck should do always enjoy these videos

@@Stevgar2 so far I found no lack of power it pulls strong this is my first gas truck all my other trucks before this were all dodge diesels
Where is the L8T getting bad reviews?
I was looking for a 4 door 8.1, never found one 😢 settled for a 07 cummins.... don't feel bad about it 😂
I think you built a monster.
Somebody will have it long after you!!
I've been working it 7 years now

That’s a 100 year truck! Great job.
Should have done this to my 7.3 cube van!!

Mines a 05 with a 5 speed Allison with the 6th gear kit from factory
But I Agee Allison takes a lot of power

So is that a 2500 or 2500hd? I know a few videos you referenced to it as a 1500hd.
Originally it was 1500hd 6.0 4l80 I bought a 3500 dually 8.1 6 speed Allison and swapped it then built the heavy frame under it
It’s technically a single wheel 3500 hd now
@@BurninGas8.1 awesome. I wondered if it may have started as a 2500 light duty than got any 8.1 swap. Is this the same truck you back halved?
@@BurninGas8.1 how difficult was the swap?
@@tri5garage544 yup
What gears?
check out my 8.1 playlist its got 5.13s with a 6 speed Allison
