The folder became giant (46Gb), apparently unzipped everyone and then not backed up. How do I just replace one of the language files? Help.
What I'm trying to do is, in Portal 1, have Glados use the Russian voice-acting while the turrets use the German voice acting (mostly to see if such a thing is possible). Now, since these deal with the main portal .VPKs, I have not gotten the results I would like. I believe it's because these are multi-file components as well as the different language packs use different amounts of clips. it doesn't help that I have to extract the base _dir.vpk file instead of the separate directory sub-groups. As attempting to do so causes an error preventing me from actually seeing/copying the contents at all; unless I go through the _dir.vpk. I almost got it to work by making a pseudo-portal_pak_003.vpk The main issue was that the Russian Glados spoke at about 2 or 3 times speed and would end up resorting to static while the single German turret line I heard seemed fine. I'm already attempting to pre-slow the speed of Glados so that it will result in a normal speed (and hopefully prevent static). However, is there a better, more reliable method for me to go about doing this mashup of different voice overs?
I found out that the reason the Russian voice clips ran at twice the speed but the German voice clips ran fine is becuase of the audio sample rates: the German voices used 44100 (same as the English one that it's replacing) and the Russian clips are in 22500. So the game was trying to runt eh audio at the 44100 rate causing it to seem like double speed. Now I'm slowly working my way through the 360 sound clips, converting each one from 22500 to 44100. It's easy, but tedious and repetitive.
I installed GCFscape and it ran one time fine, but later I double click the VPK files and the program doesn't open up but I see it in the task manager... any ideas?

Kinda late here,idk if oyu still get messages from YT saying you got a new comment,but pls answer if you see it,you see i made some scripts for the CSS weapons cuz as they are htey sucka nd i wanted them to be more special as they should,you know AWP with a 20 bullets mag is unrealistic and all,anyway,i made the scripts,i put them in a folder which i named how i wanted,and inside the folder i made another one named "scripts" to match the game's folders as it should,put the scripts i made inside the scripts folder which is inside the folder with the name od the so called mod i want to make,dragger the main folder and turned it into a vpk file,so basically is a normal mod like any other as structure,but it can't be found by the game even tho i put it where it should,so as i see it is like this,scrips i made are ok,put them in a folder named "scripts" to match the game's directory files as it should,then put that in a folder to make the VPK,and nothing,have i done something wrong? do i need to make another file or something?
Gonna put my other comment here,anyway i found the problem,i just forgot to make the damn "addoninfo" text file,so the game just couldn't find it even if it was a VPK file,just wanted to point it out here to those who want to make mods or scripts for themselves or friends or actually want to start modding and their mods don't show up like mine was,DO NOT FORGET about the "addoninfo" text file,if you don't know what that is then download some mods turn them from VPK into folders and you will see the folder with the textures or scripts or sound or whatever,and under them an "addoninfo" text file,that is what you need for the mod you made to be found by the game,just don't copy the addoninfo file from another mod and make your own and then upload it on workshop,you'll either give credits to someonelse for your work or that someonelse might get angry for you using his/her name
