- A craft brewery in the Netherlands? In Rotterdam?? This isn't your typical Heineken I can tell you that! Finding a beer in the Netherlands has never been a problem...but finding a good beer in the Netherlands you need to look around... look no further than Brouwerij Noordt! Tammy and I recently visited this place, and we were pleasantly surprised by what we found. Now living in Rotterdam, you have your choice of a number of different places to get your beer (store, cafe, restaurant) but when you go right to the source...you get some FRESH! When it comes to the staff all too many times, we find a good place, but the staff really lacks, and we don't go back. At Brouwerij Noordt the folks working there were awesome and made everyone feel welcome. Whether you've been there 50 times or it's you first, they were great! So do yourself a favor and head over to Brouwerij Noordt, sit outside in the fresh air or inside and make new friends. Grab yourself a great beer (or two) and enjoy the day! Take it from two expats who moved to the Netherlands from the US...Cheers!
Is a miracle beer: it goes in like Noordt and comes out like Heineken.
That's very good because all other beer come out like urine!😅😅😅😅😅😅
best answer sofar. :)
@@51bikerboy Heineken also goes in like that.
In the past this was a depot from the ROTEB, (the city cleaning ( the garbage man) and firebrigade of Rotterdam) and also a firestation,
When i was a young kid my father used to be working over there.
If you are tasting alcohol, you should go to Schiedam, to the Lange haven, the jenever museum you can take some Jenever, and it it’s’s just a Nice place, and a few doors down you can make your own chocolate and it’s really good
Hi Tammy and Eric. If you are interested, i lived in Haarlem for 13 years and what is very popular is the Jopenkerk. It's a brewery in a church located in the centre of Haarlem. They also have fantastic beer and you can also have lunch or diner there.
Hi oldman! We were just at Jopenkerk last month and had lunch & a beer! It was lekker!
Heerlijke stad!
Sssst, another Gouden Tip especially for you guys: Belgian Beer Cafe Olivier in Utrecht ("With a Belgian you will be well pampered. We have an extensive beer list with mainly well-known and lesser-known Belgian beers. There is room on the tap for beers from the Utrecht area, for example, but also from America. We also serve delicious Jupiler beers!") situated in an old church building. You're welcome, Ellen
Love that Eric keeps the snowboard in the background. Great video as well!
my father from Africa worked there and came to Zoeterwoude when it closed in Rotterdam, but he still lives 100 meters away and I live 400 meters away!of this factory
In Den Bosch you have City Brewery 't Kolleke, Bossche Brouwers aan de Vaart or Bossche Stadsbrouwerij Jongens van De Wit and Brouwerij Boegbeeld. You must try!
Also it has 1 of the 2 Heineken breweries.
In Limburg we have alot of german and belgian beer influences. I love Witbier, Erdinger and Paulaner are also in dutch supermarkets and they're amazing!
It's looking great where you are. Tempting to jump in the car and join you. Enjoy❤
The stove is a Bullerjan. Scandinavian I think. You burn the wood in the center. Cold air comes up through the bottom of the pipes, is heated by the fire inside and blows out the top of the pipes. My cousin had one in his workshop. That workshop was big, falling apart with cracks in the thin brick wall big enough to stick your hand through, no insulation at all and a rusty thin corrugated iron roof. Impossible to get it warm with any stove, except this one. It made the place into a sauna.
It was used to be a firestation.
Brouwerij Noord is great. I work for the landscaping/gardening company that build the raised garden at the top level. It was nice to come in the summer and maintain the garden and then at the end of the day take a cold one if I was not the one driving. It is too bad I have not been there since I went on sick leave 18 months ago.
I challenge you to try the beer at brew pub "De Hemel" in Nijmegen!
Harpoon Brewery Boston MA, Guinness Storehouse St. James's Gate, Dublin 8 Ierland and Brouwerij De Halve Maan Walplein, 26 Brugge. Many times visited one on holiday but my favourite beer now is 0.0% 🙂
Tot de volgende keer!
Hi, very interesting video. The beers look very tasty! 👍👍maybe next time show some more statistic info about each beer. It would make it even more informational.
Bier & bitterballen. That's it. That's heaven.
If you are ever in Deventer. There is also a nice beer tasting with our local beer Davo.
I think it would be fun to do a tasting there together😊
You might want to visit Kompaan in the Hague a lot of really great beers and nice food and atmosphere.
Wooow, beautiful place, Noordt brewery. I went there once for the preparation of a beer festival. Nice atmosphere and good beers.
Again a very nice video and the subject also appeals to me 😀. And if I may give one more recommendation when it comes to a visit to a relatively small brewery in Rotterdam: brewery “Pelgrim” in Delfshaven (Aelbrechtskolk 12). During the tour of this beautiful small brewery you will hear the story of the Pilgrim Fathers (the Pilgrim Fathers Church is next door) who left from here via England to the Cape-Cod-Bay America.
The 7 Hops from Noordt is the one for me, pretty bitter but I love it. And there are a few more very nice beers from Rotterdam.
It's good to see you two are happy and enjoying life :)
Next stop!
Last week I learned that my favorite beer in California went belly up…. Sigh.. I was even able to buy Anchor Steam af the bierkoning in Amsterdam.
Oooh. Now you've done it. Associating Heineken with Rotterdam just got you in hot water with Amsterdam AND Rotterdam.
Rotterdam.... Oranjeboom!
I really need to go out and explore my new neighborhood. I just live across the Rotte
Now that it is really hot this week try ordering a Gueuze. (Belgian beer)
So what if you don't like beer? Now I am not saying hard liquor is the solution... but if you get the chance, hop on a train or even metro E to the Hague and visit Van Kleef. They do guided tours and tastes as well! I can recommend them and I don't drink alcohol very often but I really enjoyed this place.
Finding good beer really isn't that difficult. Most bars and restaurants have some really good stuff!
It's not unusual to see beer cafe's either: They tend to have dozens, if not hundreds of different beers.
P.S. You can tap your own beer on the spot! At the Taphuys location Arnhem ........
There are many craft beers in our country. You should visit some more, like Trappist abbey Koningshoeven in Berkel-Enschot (near Tilburg) where they make La Trappe (my personal favourite), brouwerij het IJ in Amsterdam, Maximus in Utrecht, or one of the many others!
Nice to see you appreciate local beers!
According to friends you are supposed to clean your palette in between drinks with water lol. Of course I am not a true evaluator 😊. I prefer dark beer myself and thank you for the episode
Just a suggestion, with the next (beer) tasting, taste the beer from licht (alcohol percentage) to heavy. You will build up the taste much better in this way.
there are many craft beer breweries in the Netherlnds. im from Leiden we got Leidsch Bier and Pronck. If you love blonde beers id recommend Seef its made from wheat, barley and buckwheat, its very fruity
Looks like a nice place. Cherry beer is quiet good!
I live not far from the Jopenkerk, would have been nice to meet you by chance !
Voor meer bier:
Jopen en Uiltje in Haarlem
Moersleutel in Alkmaar
De Koningshoeven(La Trappe) in Berkel-Enschot bij Tilburg
Hertog Jan in Arcen
De Molen in Bodegraven
Frontaal in Breda
't IJ in Amsterdam
Van Moll en 1000watt in Eindhoven
Kompaan in Den Haag.
If you ever up noord (lol) Holland, visit Jopen in Haarlem
they are located in an old fire station. i found that on their website.
Hallo lovely people, my favorit beer is Belgium, Westmalle Triple, but all beers are fine aslong it hase alcohol in it 😊. They don't serve bitterballen? Groetjes.
Eric if you love White beer or "Weissbier" (in german), you have to try 'Erdinger' it's possibly the best White beer you can get (in my opinion).
Your Dutch pronounciation is improving. As others said, it used to be fire station brandweerkazerne as we say in Dutch. Cherry beer is called kriek which is Flemish for cherry , kersen in Dutch.
I once had to go for work to Brussels and the architect and construction guy, both from Flanders, took me for lunch to café restaurant A La Mort Subite, where we ate, and drank Mort Subite Kriek and Mort Subite Gueuze beer. It’s not the way I normally lunch, I mean with alcohol. But it was a nice lunch. I just drank one Gueuze beer and bought the Kriek to try back home (I had to drive back two hours later, so one beer was enough). Maybe a tip for the ones that aren’t familiar with this brand, I wasn’t and was positively surprised by these beers.
There's more than 800 breweries in the Netherlands, so there should be always something of youre liking.
Have you tried Hertog Jan? It's my go to beer when I'm in the Netherlands!
Hey Eric and Tammy. Here is what "Hopchecker" says about the history of the building where the brewery is located:
History Brewery Noordt
It is still a very young brewery, with a short history. Peter Rouwen had been to the Brooklyn Brewery in New York in 2009 and was immediately so enthusiastic that he immediately wanted to bring this concept to Rotterdam. Together with a friend, the plans were made concrete and a location could be searched for. The brewery was built on the Zaagmolenkade, which was first a rubbish dump, later a fire station and now a brewery. The tent has been open since the autumn of 2015 and the beer flows out of the taps.
Cheers
Thanks for the tip. Nice place. 👍🏻🌷
Not sure but wasn’t it something like and electricity building? The people over there will now for sure.
Nice video again. The only beer I drink is Kriek.
But you are not allowed to ride your bike when you are drunk, big fine if they catch you 😂
If you like cherry taste kriek or mystic, and liefmans (al big brands).
See you in Zundert at the Trappist beer brewery still made by monks (or La Trappe) in Achtmaal we’ve also a taste room of one of our little breweries.
The building where Brouwerij Noordt is situated used to be a fire station in the past.
Looking @4:42 I seriously doubt that. A raised floor like that would make it difficult to enter or exit the building with firetrucks.
@@gert-janvanderlee5307It was, I’m from Rotterdam. The raised floor was installed later, after it wasn’t a fire station anymore.
Very cool…thanks!!
Eric
Ah, now understand what you meant with the raised floor. I thought you meant the inside one, but you meant the outside one. On the other side of the building the floor is on street level, you can see it shortly in the video at 5:24 (the stairs going up along the side of the building).
Finaly, no Heineken, but now *real* beer tasting.
love your video
We all love Heineken.
@@bartobruintjes7056 no, we do not.
Witbier is like the German weiss bier: brewn with wheat and with less barley and gives a fresh taste and is less "hopped". Double beer is usually darker coloured by caramelized hops and because of this toasting process sweeter but also heavier in alcohol than pilsner beer. I love to drink this type of beer in winter. Tripel is usually a lighter coloured and more hopped beer high in alcohol (8 - 9 %) and because of the bitterness of the hops a very good thirst quencer. I drink a Tripel style of beer Duvel (it's not a true Tripel but it is in the same style) in warm summer weather and I love it!
Blonde is another style of beer which is usually less strong in alcohol (but can be more than pilsner) and lowest in alcohol is the German Kölschner ( or short "Kölsch ) which is usually 3 - 3,5 %
But don't make the mistake that weizen is wit-beer! Weizen just means wheat. Prefer wit myself.
SOI3 on Westkruiskade is also very nice for Thai food, if you don't mind taking your time because they are not the fastest. But hey, that's what we do when we go out to eat anyways, take our time. It's not fast food :)
Have you already been to Fenix Food Factory in Katendrecht. That's also a a good experience. Their is also a brewery among other food stuff things
The best witbier I think is Korenwolf
I agree!
The main building looks like a typical Philips factory from the early sixties.
Just a guess, as an old Philips employee, who worked in a similar building. (Not in the early sixties! 😜)
Afaik Noordt is located in a former Fire Station...
beer is always 10 points... YEAHHH. lemma talk to ya.
Wow, that looks like a great place guys, I'll have to try it some time! Who doesn't like a cool place to hang out and relax, have a nice beer, right? You know, if you like beer... I don't know if you guys already know about it or not, there are more breweries in Amsterdam than just Heineken? I.e. you have Brouwerij Het IJ and a few others as well. And other places have nice breweries to. Maybe you could go and discover more of them, have yourselves a beer series on your channel haha
The building was for the Fire Department
It used to be a fire station
As for food I would recommend Bar Berta (tapas 2.0) and Wildstube because of it's beautiful (secret?) garden. With german beer off course. But you have to love to eat meat at this last place.
Posting this video on a hot working day: No Fair! Me thirsty now!
Maybe it is a good idea that you go to the foodhall in Breda. They have diffent foods and drinkt. Also from other countries. My nephew has an Brazilian foodshop in it..He lived for many years in Brazilië before ....Maybe you will like it to go there !!!!
Yes, good idea. Ragazzi Italians makes the best pizza.
Don't get me wrong! Only it hardly makes a difference what topic of the day is, because it's just fun to watch U guys, when i got a little time to do so.. 🙂
Rotterdam derives it's name of he river Rotte
Is that the Belgian Kriek [creek]?
Zuipen Mannen ...enne de beste wensen ... You know it
🙋🏼♀
Great that you at least taste the difference between Heineken and other beers.
Here in the south a lot of people including me, say that Heineken tastes like cats piss. We don’t like Amstel too.
Triples are my favorites; dubbel are to sweet for me.
My favorite pilsener is Gulpener.
One of my favorite Dutch beers is La Trappe Isid’ or. It’s brewed in an abbey.
I like Belgium beers even more. So many great beers.
Chimay blue
Rochefort blue
Karmeliet
Westmalle tripel
Liefmans Gouden Band
Wat is dat rode bier?? Ik zie het niet op hun website
Witbier is made from wheat. That calls Weissbier in German, Weiss is wheat. So witbier is actually a wrong translation, it should be tarwe bier in Dutch. But we know it so long now as witbier.
Cherry beers originate in Belgium. You definitely should try Belgium Trappists and their gazillion other kinds, if you like the style of beers you tried here. This style originates in Belgium, triple, double, they even have to the open air yeasted beer, very different to anything. Open air yeasted beer is very traditional, probably more than a thousand years old style. But they have many different styles. I’ve never had bad Belgium beer.
Where is the foam head? They went all flat...😉
and back to Eric for the intro!!!!!
Tammy and Eric do you feel that you got a better quality of life here in the netherlands ?
Absolutely!!!
Eric
Heineken - there’s a reason why we export that but they just keep making more :(
REPEATED CALL: Please come over to the City of Arnhem and do bring along your palls from T&T Go Dutch. At the TAPHUYS your choice is even better: choose from 40-100 beers, 32-80 wines........ See you soon? Bye for now, Ellen and Vick from Arnhem
Next time you smell your food or drink, open your mouth....you gonna notice the difference in a positive way
Maybe nationale bokbierdag in Zutphen is something you like.
I lookt it up and oke read this Historische voormalige brandweer kazerne ,know a little Dutch yet??🍹🍹😂😂😂
Next time look for beergarden tasting beer on top of a roof in the centre of Rotterdam.
my fav beer its a bit stong its not eveboby tast
There's another one from another brewery, Quadruple the strongest La Trappe at 10% 🙃
Have to hand it to the monks, célibataire. Seems to do wonders for the beers. Oh, they do have another one, at 11% but that one I haven't tasted yet.
A craft beer? You actually think there is just one? 😮😂
No!! We know that there are many🤪
Heineken is not a popular beer in Souther and Eastern provinces. It ist most tampered beer in the Netherlands. All the smaller breweries make much better beer.
Did you know that our southern neighbours, the Belgiums, call the Dutchies the Americans of Europe? It's probably because the Belgiums finds us loud...😂
yes kersenbier is very nice
😉😊😊
