To anyone interested in sculpting, I HIGHLY recommend Philippe Faraut's DVDs. They are incredibly informative and the techniques he teaches are extremely helpful. He really breaks down complicated anatomy, forms, volumes, proportions, etc. into a simple and fun process. They're the best sculpting videos I've watched.
Dear Philippe! You have no idea how happy I am to see you return to the channel !! I feel privileged !!! Just the wonder of the internet to give us the happiness of being able to see such beautiful works from so far away! It would be impossible for me, from here in Brazil, to be able to see your class and your kindness to post your work is a real gift! Thank you!!!
I really started taking my sculpting seriously this past year and your videos have been really inspirational and helpful for me. Thank you so much for sharing your fantastic work!
INSANELY GORGEOUS! Your skill and precision are a joy to watch! Your hard work and knowledge of anatomy is amazing.. You are truly gifted and thank you for sharing your fine craft with us! I’m inspired!
I feel like the skill really shines through on the ear. Its all amazing and very impressive but those blocking in steps to making it showed a lot of experience in the complex shape
Do you ever look at the face you're sculpting and think it looks exactly like them, but then the longer you stare at it the more it begins to look like someone else. Awesome work. Very relaxing and inspiring to watch and learn from your techniques.
As an art major in college, I sculpted a lot of heads last semester, and the fact that it took me a solid hour and a half to get the lips looking just right while you managed it in two quick motions really shows how amazing you are
Absolutely brilliant. Your a very talented man... No, wait, your a unusually talented man. You make it look so easy. It’s not. Sure you can learn the basics and follow a formula, but that’s where it ends. A fine artists eye is needed to make it come alive... and your work is alive.
Watching your videos, is always something magical... I wouldn't ever stop to watch them!!! You're a great Sculptor Philippe!! I hope to meet you one day!! ;)
Yesterday I sketched portrait of Jason mamoa..... And I was looking for some grey or black n white pictures for rendering purposes when I got to see some of Your work sir. I must say your details and level of perfection is beyond this world.😍😍😍👍 I immediately jumped from Pinterest to UA-cam to search for ur channel and I've subscribed immediately. I felt u were working with chocolate, it looked smooth and creamy. Clay looked liked butter. U made it look extremely easy but I know I've made some sculptures and it's time taking and difficult untill unless u love ur work. 👍👍👍 Thanks for such amazing art piece.
He is a master..I watch in amazement. The skill! Wow! The scale is perfect! Absolutely incredible..this is what happens when passion collides with purpose..
You are so so talented... I worked for a sculpture artist because I needed to know how fibreglass sculpture was made.. and having had hands-on experience with clay.. i salute you... I know how difficult it is to create what you did... Now if you only had a cast made.. you could have had the same thing.. but at a fraction of the weight
Increible!!!
sherlocklust best advice to you; Start Now, kid-trust me thats the biggest regret any person could have; and regret is the worst enemy, regret is self-destruction
I tried working with polymer clay and it was a nightmare. Stuff was so hard I could barely form it. Not sure if the wuality was shit or if I had to warm it up before working with it. When I started working with it, my fingers would keep warming the stuff up and it would cause dents and change the shape of my sculpture. At some point I got so annoyed I gave up and downloaded Blender instead. I managed to sculpt an almost perfect head of my Skyrim character there in like 3 hours, it was so easy and intuitive. I think I'll stick to 3D modelling, lol.
Most likely you were using the wrong type of polymer clay for your needs. Super Sculpey (pink) is much more soft than Super Sculpey Firm (grey). Using a rolling pin or a pasta machine, is is easy to blend the two until you get the desired firmness. Your other problems probably derive from the way you built your armature. Just like painting miniatures, it is much easier to sculpt when your model is properly secured to a wooden base that you can use as a handle. Warming up your clay in a bag dipped in lukewarm water (not too hot or you'll bake it!) can also greatly improve your work flow.
Trois jours d’enseignement tip top.
All I’m gonna say is...you missed the eyebrow scar.....and HOLY SHIT! That’s amazing. ....and Thank You for knowing ACTUAL body angles. And that’s all I’m gonna say...😂😂
Now this is the sculpting style I remember from art school, beautiful work, just saw someone teaching a beginning sculptures video and the technique was horrible. 😩🙌🏼
Hola soy un niño de doce años, admiro tus obras de arte que realisas soon impresionantes jamas habia visto tal majestruosidad mi anelo seria conoser tu hobras personal mente quisiera llegar a ser un gran artista como tu 😲

You should make a Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell sculpture, and later smash his head like the Mountain did.
Very nice work.. presentation and edit also good to see.. all the very best..
it takes me 6 hours to sculpt a face on a good day and this man did the full bust in 10 min
