I'm from St. Vincent and we call it rice porridge as well and the preparation is the same. Rice porridge is one of my fav porridges.

I would make rice porridge for my kids when they were little from left over rice from the night before. I liked to blend it with banana and walnuts and I used honey to sweeten it also used cinnamon, vanilla and milk.🇺🇸
In England 🏴 we call it rice pudding can be eaten hot or cold. When I was going to school they would serve it as a desert at lunchtime and add a spoon of Jam in the center for additional sweetness. Can’t wait to try this one. Big up Chef Adrian and mommy.

In Accra, Ghana, West Africa we call it RICE WATER. It is cooked only with the rice, sugar, a little salt and milk.

I normally use Jasmine rice and rinse it up to 3 times. I blend my rice after rinsing that way it takes a longer period to cook because the rice is uncooked. It tends to get thickened since it's in powder form. Each time it gets thickened I'd add water to ensure the rice is cooked. I'd repeat that 3 times and then add my coconut milk followed by my seasoning.
So good to see this porridge my grandmother use to make this when I was little girl she called in rice tea 🇧🇧. Love your mothers gunga peas and rice. Your mum can cook. Bless up.🇬🇧

Blessings Chef Adrian & Mummy ❤Yes I'm British Jamaican, British Born wid Jamaican parents 🇬🇧🇯🇲 In the UK they call is rice pudding, eaten hot or cold & some people even bake it, so it gets that dark skin on top. Here in the USA be call it rice pudding! We can eat it hot or cold it doesn't matter. We also eat it as a dessert not so much as a breakfast food
