- To commemorate the iconic primetime soap, "Knots Landing" on its 40th anniversary, Michael Fairman sat down with the three leading ladies of the cul-de-sac: Joan Van Ark (Val), Michele Lee (Karen) and Donna Mills (Abby) for this deep-dive interview where the trio discuss: their camaraderie , watch back key scenes, and deliver backstage insight on working on the CBS series that ran from 1979-1993.

I remember when S id passed I was crying so hard, my then husband came home he asked what was wrong, I cryed out Sid died . The acting was so good I felt like I lost a dear friend

I grew up watching Knots Landing. It's been so long and I have forgotten most of the story lines but I still loved Knots Landing.

I loved Knots Landing! When it came on at 10pm on Thursday night everybody had to be in bed, or be silent! No one in my house could talk while I watched Knots Landing! I watched it every week for 14 years. I Loved that show!
Donna Mills is the oldest of the three! She is stunning at almost 80. I’m having whatever she’s having! 😊

Diana Moore - I agree that she looks beautiful. My educated guess is that she had a brow and neck lift along with liposuction at, and just beneath, the jawline along with a few dermabrasion sessions.
Best night time soap ever. The writing, the acting, the characters, the list goes on and on. Thanks so much for this and the 14 years of entertainment.
Hands down, one of the best series to ever be produced.

14 seasons on Prime Time TV says it all ! I was hooked on the comings and goings on Sea View Circle. How blessed are these three glorious actresses to have remained such great friends.

Donna Mills looks young , she has found the fountain of youth, all three of them looks fantastic! Knots Landing had great storytelling and great actors too! I miss watching it!
The cliffhanger with Val seeing her babies is probably one of the best cliffhangers EVER in television history IMO. There's no way you can watch it and not tear up. I remember the Thursday night it first aired and then just being so impatient over the summer to see what would happen when the show returned that fall. Ah, memories!
The magic of KNOTS LANDING was that they took the time to let each actors shine in their respective scenes.
Nothing was ever rushed & the characters were so well developed that I always felt like that they were friends that you caught up with week after week.
DALLAS was good but the characters were more one dimensional.😍

OMG I’m almost in tears as I’m watching this reunion of what was my favorite show to watch ❤️ I cried when it was the last final episode omg feel so nice to see them again together. Dallas, Knots Landing and Dynasty where my favorite shows that I watched years after years. Was so happy when TNT brought Dallas back only to take it off the air on the 3rd season I believe it was left so many stories untold. I would love to see Knots Lansing come back..

I absolutely LOVED this show! Ive been waiting for them to release the remaining seasons. I will never forget my water breaking during the show in 1991 and I wouldn’t leave for the hospital till it was over!! ☺️

I remember that last episode so well, that night.. where I was sitting. I cried. It was my show. I wish there was a way to watch the whole thing over again. Sheesh, 40 years ago. They all look great.

In June 1980 i was 12 years old. I was in a car accident and i broke my left femur. I spent the next 3 years in bed in the hospital. Knots Landing was an excellent part of my recovery Every Thursday night at 10 pm My very first soap opera drama was Dallas then Knots Landing. Val Karen & Abby were the ultimate suburban soccer moms. Thank you Joan Michelle and Donna for every Thursday night in the hospital By the way all 3 of you look awesome
Wow ,3 years in the hospital! I broke my femur in my right leg a few years ago and thankfully they put a rod and screws in and it was a couple months of at home doing exercise to get the strength back in my leg. I fell down an embankment and broke my femur on an icy lot walking my dog. Maybe my break was more of a clean break than yours? I don't know it just seems like a long time I'm sorry you had to go through that at such a young age!
@@KaraLynnJack A compound fracture just below my left hip. At the scene of the accident my left knee was over my right shoulder it was completely shattered. You need to remember that it was 1980 medical technology was almost in the dark ages also i was still young and my growing taller was a huge factor during this time period. Traction 9 months 3 different surgical procedures due to traction didnt go as planned a full body cast for 15 months. Since the break was so close to my hip they had to immobilize both hips so the break could mend properly. Then a spika cast which is half a body cast. Truly it was a nightmare.

same my mom had her 10PM time slot reserved no phone calls, nothing, and since I grew up living in a culdesac, by the mid 80's I was hooked when abbey went full abbey, btw, I had an aunt, my mother's sister who could have been abbeys twin both in looks and bitchiness, divorced with two children a boy and a girl. When I pointed this out that abbey was aunt Michelle, it just made the show more interesting. My aunt Michelle was a diva, and when we had family functions we always had her bring the ice cream because she was always late.and by the time she would arrive for the meal, we were eating dessert.
I loved when they were all watching their own special scenes and Donna’s face when she watching herself as Abby, hacking at the door with the hammer, was hilarious! I love these three ladies!

I completely agree with these wonderful ladies. Knots Landing is one show that should definitely be rebooted. There are others too but Knots Landing is one on the short list that would make it..no doubt about it. It would be great!

About 3 years ago here in england i accidentally came across the whole rerun on cbs drama ,having been obsessed first time round i was beyond excited so there it was every morning for over a year ,so to see this interview while its still fresh in my mind is fabulous thanx , ladies we want you back

I have such fond memories of this show. I remember the final scene when the 3 women walk up the their front doors. That was one of the best endings of a TV show... ever. They really cared about the audience.

Great interview! Knots has always been one of my favorite top 10 shows due to the writing and the awesome cast! Thursday night at 10pm, the audience tuned in for 14 seasons to watch this "extended" family of characters. Great entertainment! I actually hosted a series finale party back in '93. Netflix or CBS All Access needs to add the series to their lineup for the old fanbase to rediscover and for the new fanbase to discover. This may allow the series to get a reboot.

These 3 ladies rocked it back in the day, and still do today. I had two Aunts that watched the show faithfully.....never missed a episode! They were funny to listen too....when talking about what happened on the last show. They both were in their late 80's, early 90's. Totally devastated when it all ended.

I met Michelle Lee at the Gene Kelly tribute at the Beverly Hilton in 1985/86 and signed an autograph...we were staying at the hotel with my parents and I was in heaven meeting her. I dropped the pen as I handed it to her to sign and got on my knees trying to find the pen. I love you girls!!!
the story where Abby and her daughter both thought the other had killed a man and both trying to cover for the other were great - I remember the fantastic scene where Abby buries the guy only to get back to the parking lot and realize her car keys were in the buried guy's pocket! Those were some of the best, most suspenseful scenes of any nighttime soap - well done, Donna Mills!

l loved Knots Landing. So many twist and turns that kept you on edge. I hated when it was over. But good things do come to an end....and reruns would be fun to watch
when they showed the repeats of Knots Landing on the Soap channel I recorded each episode on VHS. Later on I transferred them to DVD. I have watched the entire series at least 6 times. lol .......and yes, the DVD's stacked are like a foot tall.

OMG how much do I love you for this? I can’t even count the ways! I loved watching them watch clips. Joan’s reaction to the twins scene as I am having goose bumps and then Karen, I mean Michelle LOL pulls Joan close. You can see the show, the storylines touched all of them as much as it did us the audience. I watched Knots with my Nana and my brother Michael. And whenever I’m going through something, I binge Knots. Thank you so much for this!
