    What I found made a huge difference was our immediate neighbours who we happened to luck out on both sides. They come to our bonfires and look after our chickens when we need to go away for a few days. A friend has a terrible neighbour who makes his life hell. The greater community here on our gulf island also makes a big difference in many ways.

    Yes neighbors can be a real pain even when you share your harvest with them. Sad very very sad. Been there done that. 😢

      Its hit & miss when you think about it. We really need to have great communication to find people of similar mindset* I am on my own & seeking other down to earth people to buy a property with in BC. Most people on their own cannot afford it & risks are too high after all the #'s are crunched, chancing that they can lose their home, which has sadly already happened for some

      when you move home, be a terrible neighbour for a few weeks, tthen chill it down, they will be the ones trying to keep you happy haha

    I simply want peace, slower pace lifestyle, and freedom of choice. I’m alone living in Georgia on 1 acre of land in a 2 BR/2BA/2 garage with pets. On a well but expensive Coop power. It’s paid for and across from a Lake. Mostly shaded with neighbors an acre apart. But I own 2 properties in TX just land, no home or utilities way out in rural America. I’m 64, disabled. Family in TX so should I move back & sell this property? 77 acres on 1 property and 43 acres on the other. Being alone is great but I can’t do much physically. I know just a couple of my neighbors here and it’s only 4-5 miles from town. What should I do ? I’m healthy just limited.

    I'm getting close to escaping Alaska. I'm thinking someplace southern enough that I can stay in my camper all year but mainly I just want rid of my death contract,smart meter permanent address state issues. Lol

      We are trying to escape TO alaska. What's the downsides to an off grid property up near fairbanks? My friends works on the haul road and offered to get me a job driving. Good pay that's for sure.

    • @egodeathplease
      @egodeathplease Рік тому

      @@secretnewmeta1981 downside of fairbanks? Or the Haul road. Its gets really cold in fairbank -40 comonly. -100 on the north slope. n don't mess with the haul road. Get a route job someplace. The Dalton is a killer. Hills you'll slide back down backwards on if you spin out. Crosses everywhere on that road. They'll promise you anything to get your butt in the seat on that road. Right now there's still plenty work n Alaska. Food is expensive. Housing is high still. You can buy anything you want. Stay away from Anchorage. If I were wanting to stay? I'd look a little North of Wasilla. Houston, willow, Talkeetna, trapper creek are my favorite areas. No were near as cold as Fairbanks and fairly remote. Good luck.😁

    I hope to hear some on how important it is to get some of these silly, worldly, and unwise decisions on choosing areas(country, state, region) to start a homestead. Seems like people choose according to their feelings, ideals, honeymoon/rose colored glasses. There is so much in choosing land, as well as all the other steps, Training/ learning curves, (Good Quality) tools, from truck, to shovel, house, to livestock & fencing....

      The original contract for property tax is in dollars. If the government were to change that, they're in breach of contract. Basic law on that one.
