This video started as a skate night which in itself was a whole wild idea. There was ONLY 1 accident too. Winning. 😅 But, I know that you guys want to see a shop update and FINALLY I have an update. And dang! The shop has changed a lot since I first bought it. I have to remind myself of that sometimes. PLUS as a bonus, my bug came home from California the same week, so an update on that was warranted too. There’s a lot of stuff going on in this video, but I hope you still really enjoy it!

Alex, I'm glad you have your own shop it looks great. Please, don't let your Dad sell any of his old cars to anyone else, they need to stay with you and your collection. These items are your family history and upbringing.

After raising two daughters that are about your age, I truly love the interactions with you and your dad. I cherish having my daughters in the shop with me when they have time. One lives here in NC and the other works in Hollywood. I value every single minute i get spend with them around cars and related events.

Note: at no point during the video was I bored. The progress on the shop is amazing and the end result will be very nice. You know it's a good shop when the dogs are running around playing. I had a 63 beetle with the same exhaust and wheels, they are very fun.

I grew up in Orange County like Dennis did and totally understand the love for SoCal VWs a still have the semi-custom 69 Ghia my Mom bought at Don Burns Dealership in Garbage Grove back in 1974.

I haven't seen a vintage Beetle now in years. Those engines were about bulletproof. Just keep changing the oil in them and they could run forever. And by the way I was a teenager in the 80s and it was a really fun time.

To all the team at Alex Taylor Racing and HRG, I just started watching HRG even after years of other shows including Roadkill and Engine Masters. I became an instant fan watching Alex cruise a missile down the track while it was trying to walk to a different state. It became instantly apparent how racing is in your blood. Now I'm binge watching all the shows. Congrats on the new shop and for providing some very cool entertainment for us gearheads. My girl is your age and she drives like it was stolen and she is a skater to the extreme. Who wouldn't be proud of you!
You should have Steve Darnell make your Road sign. I think his work would be awesome for that and encompass the hot rods

Neat 80 throw back. Would definitely suggest a shower in your toilet block. In case you end up bugger after a long repair. Or if you happen to spill something on yourself or possibly someone else. Can then get clean. And maybe a laundry area. If you need to wash anything. Semi self sufficient. 👍

We used to have beetle racing in the uk where all the bugs had 1641cc engines, back in the day it was an affordable and fun way into racing

Looks great - I'm sure Dennis has great ideas, but as a retired mechanic that worked for a major manufacturer and a large construction company, layout is a major thing.

Her invite gave the option of dressing 70’s or 80’s. So, the older ones went with the 70’s and the younger ones went with the 80’s.
Love the changes to the exterior. Good choice to get that done first. The interior will be far quicker and you'll have a very complete HQ when it comes together.
Being from and living in Arkansas,Born in 1970I spent pretty much all my Teens in the 80s,if id been there the perfect look would have been a mullet, parachute pants,a Panama Jack t-shirt and high top L.A Gear sneakers:-)You have to get probably one of the biggest arcade games of the 80s which was Galaga,then of course frogger, centipede,dig dug,Tron, Donkey Kong,Joust, Defender,Q-Bert,Donkey Kong Jr, Astroids,Burger Time,and of course your Pac and Mrs Pac Man,and the list goes on!80s you had to live it to believe how much fun we had!And i Truly miss it everyday!Love the videos Alex:-)

I'd love to know what drew Dennis from Cali to a little town in northwest Arkansas. I'm 61 and spent 51 yeras of my life in Jackson TN, which was a small town, but much bigger than Booneville. I have some very fond memories of the cruising and street racing scene in my little home town. I'm just curious to know how Dennis adjusted from being what was at the time, the heartbeat of Hot Rodding, to such a small community.
His family is from Booneville.
