I’ve seen Scooter fly in 5 airshows, and the dude is a stud! He’s always my favorite warbird pilot to watch. So smooth, he gets low, and wows the crowd!
YeeeeEEEeeeEEEEEAAH! Always hardcore!...
My father was a Tuskegee Airman and flew a P-51 in WWII. One of the fastest fighter planes in WWII! Great vlog!
The Red Tails!!
My grandfather was the chief flight instructor at Tuskegee! Love that history connects us all.
Edward that is so awesome ! I would love to hear some of your Fathers incredible stories !
Are you on Long Island? I think a few of the TA's still live here.
Thank you
You can hear the passion in his voice, GREAT video
Imagine just casually flying a P-51 and recording it for the people who dream of flying such a beauty
The pilot was very hospitable to Steve and us the in flight audience. His commentary made it very entertaining. Interesting stuff.. Thanks.
Check out Scooter's podcast - awesome is an understatement indeed.
Loved him!
This video gave me serious goosebumps. Since joining the Coast Guard, I haven't stepped foot into a cockpit and I miss it some much. Seeing this just makes me want to get back in. Proud of what we have done and accomplished in the aviation community. Thanks for an awesome video Steveo! Keep it up! Semper Paratus!
During WWII Mustang Pilots from our hometown would give us a fly by when in the area. That was the highlight of being a young boy in the 1940's. Always wanted to ride on the Horizontal Stabilizer of a P51, and you-all just fulfilled that wish. Thanks - Loved the ride and view. :-)
The P 51 Mustang is one of my all time favorite airplanes also ! Everytime I see one, and I mean everytime, I always think of how we kicked Germany's ass toward the end of the war with the Mustangs. The terrific, brave job that the Tuskegee Airmen did for the war effort. Brings proud tears to my eyes. P 51 Mustang........CADILLAC OF THE SKY !
When mom picks you up from school and you tell her you failed the test 16:05
Prepare to get my ass whipped LOL
😂😂😂😂😂LMAOOOOO
I feel like the elderly person In the back was a former ww2 pilot (whenever the were preparing to take off
XD
LMAO best comment ever!! =-D =-D =-D
That was friggin awesome! And you are right, those flaps are the size of a barn door! Thanks for sharing and taking all of us along for the ride.
love it - not something you see everyday - thanks man!
People: i drive a mustang
This pilot: i fly one
How fun would it be to actually get to say that. 😀
And the wonderful Luftwaffe shot many down!!!
I ride one
the P-51 Mustang destroyed the Nazi Air Force, following the terrible Bomber losses the 8th Air Force was suffering
Volks Waggener ok then Commie
AWESOME.
You watch steveo? Nice!
wow I did not think I would find you here
Sup
Wyd step pilot?
groundpound69
"This airplane doesn't do anything half assed", hand signals, finger 4 formation, go around, drama on the runway, and oh ya FIGHTER PLANES!!! By far my favorite video you've done!!! Puts in perspective how great the WWII generation of pilots truly were. Absolutely loved it.
I'm sorry that you had to ride around in that old airplane. I would have gladly suffered through that for you. I'm pretty generous like that lol
PS.. that was awesome.
Too funny Michael, you would have gladly "suffered" through a flight in a raggedy old vintage P-51 Mustang!
LOL ! Michael I loved your comment . I would've done the same . What a way to suffer . Stevo is lucky having Scooter as pilot friend .
I would have kept the seat warm all day for him if he had asked.
That's very generous of you Michael Lloyd. If you don't have time I will gladly step in (pun not intended.)
I would fight all of you for a chance to ride in that sexy girl of a plane.
This right here is my dream flight. I love the P-51s and seeing them fly in formation like this sent chills down my spine. Such an amazing thing to be able to experience. Thank you for sharing it with us!
My late comment comes in as I sit in a hospital healing up from a double leg amputation dreaming of the day when I can get back in the AIR!. I love watching videos of old war birds in the air and what a thrill to be along for the ride in a formation of 4 bad ass
Mustangs !!!!!!!
This was GREAT!!! Seeing these warbirds fly like they were designed really strikes something way down deep. I get goosebumps just hearing that engine spool up, and tears thinking of all the Warriors from The Greatest Generation that never made it home, and those that did but have since passed on. Makes me so proud to see these birds still in the air nearly 78 years after their first flight!! THANKS FOR THIS ONE, STEVEO, and a big THANK YOU to Scooter as well!!! GOD BLESS OUR VETERANS, PAST & PRESENT! 👍👍
If this doesn't scream AMERICA I don't want will. Proud to be an American
@ dude, really? Pathetic
Amen!
Awesome,Scooter and thanks Steveo for sneaking me on!
WOW !!!! Amazing how a 70+ year old airplane can still impress !!! Loved the tactical formation demo , for a few minutes, I was looking for the "Hun" over the fields of Europe . :)
It looked remarkably clean and modernised where it should be :-)
Unless Of Course He Was In His Me 262 😱
Amazingly, most people aren't aware that the P-51 Mustang is actually a British design originally designated the A-1 Apache, mated to an Allison engine, assigned to ground attack. The Allison was great at lower altitude performance, but lacked full potential at higher altitude because of poor supercharger performance. Once it was redesigned and mated to the Rolls-Royce and Packard engine, it became a formidable opponent and a proven one at that. It was also the Tuskeegee squadron that were the first to shoot an ME-262 down, not strafing while they were on taxi or take off (which is where the 262 was most vulnerable) making it a genuine air to air kill. That is what has reinforced it as a favorite of mine. Steve, this is an amazing video, and thank you for sharing it. Amazing work done by Scooter, I would love to see Quicksilver at Thunder Over Louisville in the near future!
Steveo, I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for this video. Absolutely awesome. I love it when your pilot says, "this airplane does nothing half-assed."
Pilots are some of the coolest guys in the world. Most just seem to be good-natured and competent.
That's something really quite special. Honouring those pilots who went all the way! Awesome!!
I grew up in Windsor Ontario watching my uncle fly a mustang.it was a huge thrill to watch him.
It's called "Flying Paint!" You really have to have 100% trust in your lead pilot. Steveo, that, by far, was your best video. Simply AMAZING! On my 75" big screen and with the 7.2 (dual 200W subs), it looks (and sounds) incredible. Bravo! Simply a KICK ASS video!
The enthusiasm of Scooter made us feel that he wanted us to fly a Mustang, too, some day. Steveo and Scooter make a great pair. Thanks for the ride-a-long!
This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Beautiful planes. Even the other planes that were parked on the ground. So nice to see the formations of 4 and the call outs without using the radio. Beautiful.
P-51D is number 1 in my heart, followed closely by A-10.
BBBBBBRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
David Schoenmann you beat me to the brrrrtttt by 28 mikes
Vectors2final agree with that
Vectors2final You and I see eye to eye!
VVVVVVVVTTTTTTTTT
The most beautiful aircraft ever designed.
Thank you Stevo for bringing all of us on a ride aboard this great war bird. The P-51 was my favorite of them all.
Stay Safe, Bee Well.
Regards,
Doug, N.Tx.
Wish I was rich so I could own a P51. Even if I paid several million dollars for it I would still feel like I got a bargain for the greatest plane ever ....A thing of beauty and great design. We should all be thankful for this plane. The plane that saved the world. Great video and thanks for sharing.
Awesome video SteveO! I was lucky enough to get a P-51 ride in 2004. We did a 2 ship formation with my younger brother in the back of the other Mustang. Turns out our pilots are brothers too! Coolest thing I’ve ever experienced!😎👍🏼
Had the biggest grin on my face during the entire video. There's just something so surreal and amazing seeing such iconic pieces of history like that actually flying and performing maneuvers and flying in formation like so many years ago when they were used as more than show pieces. So cool. Thanks for sharing, Steve!
Just a sniff what the pilots felt during the war. Amazing pieces of equipment.
My favorite plane the P-51. I've been in a AT-6 & a T-28 but never the P-51. Thanks to both of you for taking us along. Fly safe.
Gary Dell I only sat in a P51G, g for Goodyear, at the old SUSSEX NJ. airshow, owned by a Dr.
Flying close to my home. I can see the wind turbines on the ground. Every summer I hear that distinct mustang sound and go to my backyard to take a look. Gives me chills.
I think we are all secretly P51 drivers. Such an iconic machine. Thank you for sharing.
Another classic choice.
My father was an aeronautical enginner in the US Navy during WWII, designing defrost systems for bombers. He took me down to Moffett field when I was a boy and I saw about 10 of these p-51s warming up. Made quite an impression on a wee boy. Still remeber it clearly after 70+ years.
NOTHING duplicates the sound of a 1700 hp Merlin ! I think that every pilot has dreamed of flying a Mustang. I know I did. I fueled the “Miss Coronado” many times, at the FBO where I worked, building flight time. I offered to pay the fuel, for a ride one day. That is, until I found out the consumption rate, ha! Big thanks Steveo and Scooter! what an experience ! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
gallon a minute on cruise..double that on War emergency power!
P51 mustang's are just soooooo BOSS!!!
Thanks for having us Scooter!
Great video SteveO.... my father flew P51D Mustangs in WWII, stationed in Wattisham, England from 1941-1945. He's told me many stories of their missions.... Beautiful plane that QuickSilver...!!
SuperDave, If your dad was there earlier in the war like that he was flying some pretty awesome aircraft before the P-51 came out. Maybe the P-38 or the P-47? P-40 Warhawk? Do tell!
He flew Mustangs, P-38 Lightnings, B-25's. He was a member of Riddle's Raiders, along with (at the time) Major Robin Olds, one of the more decorated war Ace's from that era... he later attained Brigadier General. My Father was a Lt. Colonel. Their group was the 479th Fighter Group, 434th Fighter Squadron.
SuperDave21 Super Cool, Super Dave!
My Dad was a Flight Line Supervisor of a P-51 Wing, last training at Clovis Airfield, NM. He was at San Diego when they dropped the atomic bombs on Japan. His records burned in St. Louis (so I am told) but I haven't been able to find his unit to track his service. He died in 2005.
SuperDave21 no way, I’m stationed at wattisham now
Would like to Thank you guys from the Bottom of my Heart for this video ride along!!!! I Absolutely have Loved the P 51's since I was about 5 years old , so almost 54 years . They are the Most Amazing WWII birds " in my opinion " and the Sound of those Merlin Engines is Like Nothing Else!!!! Just a Beautiful Sound !!!!! I have always wished I could ride in one but have never had the chance to , and going on this ride along with you all was just Awesome and Amazing!!!! Thankyou So Much , what an Amazing flight!!!!!
It’s always amazing how lucky I am to live 10 miles from Oshkosh and meanwhile people are flying across the globe for their once in a lifetime trip to EAA. Truly a blesing
I’m about 50 miles from Oshkosh, right in Slinger!
this entire video was just absolutely beautiful. Flying just above the clouds added so much beauty to an already gorgeous flight of Mustangs. Really special.
I loved this aircraft Since I was 6 years old such a beautiful aircraft
roughly 80 years after and the P51 and it's pilots are still some of the most badass in aviation
That was a freaking amazing videos. I don't know how those ATC controllers manage to handle all the traffic there and not lose their minds.
LtKernelPanic it’s about the same as taking all six of your kids to the mall on Black Friday!
Thanks Steveo, this means alot. I wish I was alive back then to see the hundreds of planes in the air all at once, it is one of my dreams. But I am also glad that I wasn't alive because it was so hellish and deadly in WWII all over Europe. My Great Grandpa flew B-24s out of Italy with the 485th. I love him and I am glad he is alive. Those flyboys are my heros. I am now crying. I am going to inherit his flight wings, WWII scrapbook, uniforms, I am so blessed.
This brought back some old memories....In the late 70's I was hired to be the team photographer for the Lefty Gardner 51 team, Gold Class. We were out there for almost two weeks @ Reno....and I got to have a ride along, over the course. Of coure, trying to get two Nikon F2A's off my chest, or to my eye in heavy G's...was near impossible. It was a highlight of my aviation life.
I can relate ..on my 1st P51 ride I couldn't lift my little digital camera off my lap cause we were pulling heavy G's
P51 planes, and the pilots who flew them during W.W.2 were badass. Excellent B17 bomber escorts.
Beautiful day, plane and amazing flight. Thank you for share that brave warbird.💪
Just how incredible is the cadillac of the sky! 80 years old almost and the airframe is a masterpiece De sliderule
Geez that has to be the best looking paint scheme I've ever seen on a Mustang. Loved getting to see this view of formation flying with Scooter's descriptions. The level of airmanship is stunning.
Man the P-51 is a beautiful plane, its probably my favorite plane of all, Supermarine Spitfire a close second.
AH Quicksilver! I love that P51, always a treat to see Scooter come down to the Geneseo air show every year! Nobody puts on an old warbird acrobatics routine like him!
Those were some seriously gorgeous views of the formation. Thumbs up button smashed.
That guy scooter is a PRO !!!!! amazing the coolness and the way he explains everything, outstanding !
That was AWESOMENESS to the max. I was going to say I’m jealous , but you totally deserved that ride
Man I get so excited about this aircraft it’s unreal. So envious ... Much love from South Africa 🇿🇦
Excellent choice of music.
What is that intro music?
@@stuartshapiro6626 you want the genre? its called Electro Swing
That was amazing. My one bucket list item is to fly the P-51, the most beautiful airplane of all time. Great video Steveo.
Watched his routine in the show this year--he flies the hell out of that thing.
god bless your father , Edward Smart....the Tuskegee Airmen were a huge part of the air war over Germany.....may god bless your father and all the airmen who flew ......The Greatest Generation.....
Great camera coverage, Steveo! You had that rear H. Stabilizer attachment anchored well. What a ride. "Oshkosh is the heart"! Thanks so much!!
What a beautiful airplane, nothing compares! History at its finest!
lol i love scooters energy you can really tell he loves his job and that makes it that much better
I'm glad you got to fly with Scooter and ride in Quick Silver. I am also glad you got to fly along side Gunfighter, my favorite P-51. I have a lot of Mustang video on my UA-cam channel. Keep up the great work. You have done more for General Aviation's image and drawing young people to it as a career as anyone has in the last few years.
While not my favorite warbird, P-47, the P-51 is one of the most iconic planes ever and Steveo flying around in a formation of four of them yes please
คถะ้ืนจึะ
Seeing Gunfighter brings back sweet childhood memories! It was in San Antonio a few years parked next to one of dad's C-172s when he was developing the Texas Taildragger mods for C152s & 172s. Whenever we'd go flying I almost looked forward to crawling around & in Gunfighter more than flying with dad. Spectacular video!
Wow! This has to be one of the best videos you've done Steveo. The P-51 was always my favorite airplane and now I know so much more about it. Those flap angles blew me away!
Many thanks for your efforts in making this the best ride-along, the camera shots were fantastic!
So cool!! The barrel roll... AWESOME! Watching these flight videos inspires my husband and I to start our journey of learning to fly!! Cannot wait!!
Best P-51 video I've ever seen PERIOD. This one tops it all!
A true thing of beauty! You know you're an aviation lover when some of the shots in this video make you feel something.
You and I are both pilots, but there is a huge difference in our experience level; you are far more proficient and experienced than I am. However, this is something we do have in common. I've been fortunate enough to get rides in three different P-51 Mustangs, back in the late '80s: Bill Hane's HO! Hun; Bill Destefani's Mangia Pane (his stock race plane before he got Strega); and Elmer Ward's Man O'War. This brought back a lot of wonderful memories of flying in formation during photo sorties and doing mock race passes at the Madera Gathering of Warbirds. Good times...
The look on your face during Scooter's preflight checklist was priceless. You were trying incredibly hard to hold back a huge smile. Great video.
Oh Man!! When those two mustangs intercepted below to form up. Very Cool
Of all the Spitfires, Hurricanes, Thunderbolts, Corsairs, Hellcats.. All awesome planes!
The P51 Mustang is my absolute true love. Excellent video Steveo! Keep them coming!
One of the best videos I’ve EVER seen Steve, if not THE best! Thank you! My top three: P51D, P38, F4U
I started flying RC Mustangs. Love it love it love it
Ye Biased Yankee.LOL
Phil O'Rourke
He just likes the mustang, he isn’t implying anything about it.
One of the greatest planes ever built, of any kind!! Timeless!
absolutely great to be on board in formation above the clouds....fascinating.....
Scooter clearly loves to fly the ‘stang! That was a blast hearing the commentary. My uncle flew a P47 over Germany and spent some unwelcome time in Stalag Luft 1 until the war was over. He loved formation flying and would have thought this flight rocked!
Wing-rockin', prop-slingin', piston-bangin' action!
Thanks for the great commentary Scooter! I never get tired of hearing the technical biz on the Mustang!
This was AWESOME, and I love Scooter's energy. He really loves to fly and I appreciate that. Great video!!!!
F4U-corsair is my all time favorite plane theres just something about the shape of the wings that i just love
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience with one of the coolest parts of aviation history.
As a American I’m proud of our historic airplanes and the mustangs were bad ass ... 👍🏻glad to have them still spread their wings
amazing steveo, this airplane is a monster.
I imagine this monster in the skies in World War II. HOLY MOLY
What a great video! Informative and fun to watch. The P51 is my favorite WW2 era fighter. The precision, skill, and communication was awesome. Thanks steveo! Thanks Scooter!
My friend owns Sizzlin Liz out of Nevada..
P-51 .. Best plane ever !!
Could not even comprehend how awesome that must be. That's a drop dead gorgeous fighter.
U.S./British engineering perfection; what a beautiful machine the P51 is! It makes even our Spitfire look a bit rough around the edges lol. Great content!
Luke H Oh, I don't know about that. The Spit is a lovely bird, and without her, we might not have had the Merlin. But, different airplanes for different jobs. Personally, I wouldn't mind one of each. :)
The P-51 was spec´ed to british specs though, ironically. It was the brits who ordered it.
RickyboyH Actually that's not true. The Brits wanted P-40 Warhawks, but North American offered to build them the P-51 instead, although the original was equipped with the same Allison engine as the Warhawk. It wasn't until they mated the body with the Merlin engine that the legendary fighter we know today was born.
Gary C ya the Allison engined P51's were known for being underpowered and rather crap
@soaringtractor and total crap above 20K!
Spitfire and Mustang are, for me, nicest warbirds ever. Flight like this is my dream too.
Now we just need several Messerschmitt 109s and a dog fight!
With paintballs
@@RX0_GundamUnicorn or airsoft
For a thousand years to come, there will never be a better time in aviation than that in which the P-51 Mustang (still) flies.
Wow.. Awesome! This ties with Sean D Tucker vid as my all time favorite, sweet vid' man
I've been lucky enough to have flown in a tandem seat P-51 many years ago and I can tell you it's FANTASTIC! Doing wing overs off Santa Monica beach!
One word
Amazing.
Best video of 4 P51's ever, and all on D-DAY June 6 2022, how did this past me by in 2018...just when you thought you saw them all...
Steveo, fantastic, absolutely fantastic !!
