You guys have been asking for us to cover Craig of the Creek for awhile, and I’m finally caught up! But this week’s winter special brought with it new conflict amongst the kids of the creek, and although half the Council doesn’t take the King’s looming threats seriously, His Royal Pain in the Butt is still determined to conquer the entire creek, once and for all. Will winter itself be the downfall of Craig and his friends? I’m Whitney Van Laningham, and today we’re breaking down Craig of the Creek season 3’s special, Winter Break.

The storytelling in CotC can be so deceivingly sophisticated that sometimes it's useful to get it explained.
These kids today are being spoiled with great storytelling in today's American cartoons. We didn't have this in 90s and early 00s, atvleast I don't remember anything on today's level.
The mad king is trying to pull a shao khan, not just ruling his side of the creek(out world) but wants to conquer and merge with the other side of the creek(earth realm)

This makes me wonder, though, how the “Royal Family” of the Other Side of the Creek began. Before Xavier was his sister Cheyenne, and before her was their brother Kenneth, but was there someone before him, or is the society over there all his design? Who are the parents of these kids, and were either of them monarchs of the Creek back when they were younger, passing the title down to their children as monarchs often do? It seems pretty clear by now that the ancient Capture the Flag War split the Creek into two sides, so one side must’ve become the Creek that we’ve followed throughout the series, and the other became the Other Side. Maybe the father of these kids is the kid who liked comic books from the Founder’s Keep, as ethnically he looks the same, and that trio of kids not only seemed to feel some kind of ownership over the Creek, calling themselves founders, but they were also upset by the war, so maybe he passed his mission down to his children, a mission to unify the Creek after it has split. I mean, that old map of the Creek was bigger, so maybe the Creek used to be bigger too.
I wonder if the Forest Scout kid house use to belong to the Game master who use to keep score of every game that being held in the Creek or the Forest Scout kid have a family member who is the Game master. If they found the Game master, they can find out the real history of the Creek and find out that the Other Side is the part of the Creek that got split in half due to Capture the Flag that maybe cause by the former King of the Other Side
I find it kinda strange that a Cartoon Network Show is going down a path where some kid sabotages another kids grades, literally sabotaging someone’s future
Part of me think Eliza would be a good counter for the king. His whole thing is he uses his money to buy stuff & control the kids. If she really is rich, then he can’t buy her off. To an extent I think the creek kids could also fight off the king’s power. They like their play time & don’t want to give it up. The garden kids don’t know what they would have if they gave up the king. They only know his rule

I think that our side is at a military advantage despite the economic instability because the king only has ground troops while our side has both a cavalry and guerrilla tactics
Don’t forget about the kings subjects who hate him. (I.e. the honeysuckle rangers) Shawn and Raj have been allies to Craig and the gang for awhile, and with their newfound friends I’m sure they’ll be a help in the “war”
Wildernessa could be swayed as well, since she is dedicated to the animals. And I’m sure king Xavier isn’t all that respectful to nature, once she sees that she will also join the war.
Also once Eliza realizes she can’t buy off the other creek kids because they’ll be too busy being bought off by the king, she’ll likely come around. Not to mention, the teatimers could be considered a threat with their money so king Xavier could demote them to rando
There’s also the elders of the creek who may know the old creek kids.
And Stacks, an indoor kid, with loyalties to Kelsey. Since her friendship with Kelsey is stronger than her love for the creek, she too could be an ally. Not to mention she’s pretty smart.

The Elders don’t know the old Creek kids. Their knowledge of the Creek only dates back to the early 90s, not the 70s, when those ancient kids inhabited the Creek.

Tbh I believe Eliza is actually working for the king which would make sense because she’s the one who immediately shun the idea to battle the king. And like the video said the other council members go along with her since she is “Royalty”. She might also think that royalty should stick together. The king could get information from Eliza to make the invasion easier too. It’d be pretty amazing if she was dropped in the maze by Xavier
So from the information I’ve gathered it looks like the king only stage attacks during the seasons of winter and autumn and I think one of the ways the kids on Craigside could’ve one is if they were to team up with the teenagers and the elders because the elders they probably have friends for teenagers and they could probably get them to be like a united army army
What does he even want with the Creek, he's got plenty of territory already
He wants it so he’ll be a better king than his older brother & sister. This will set him apart since they’ve never done something similar.
@@Talongirl333 Speaking of the King, some like Vox from The Roundtable speculate that he could get all the kids from OUR side of the Creek in trouble by revealing to their parents what they do.
But I see two flaws with that theory
1. Most parents would feel happy about their kids playing in nature. With the exception of not coming home on time for dinner, why would the parents punish everyone for going to the Creek every day?
2. Even if the King DOES say something, I have a feeling the town already knows their kids play there
@@sadlobster1 I think everyone knows about what goes at Creek basically different adventures and games that grow and change with the time.
@@mevan883 Precisely what I thought and of course; if the Creek WAS a bad place to play at, Craig's parents wouldn't have allowed him to take Jessica there.
But then, there's the events of Crisis at Elder Rock; where Sewer Queen and Kit both worried about what their families would think about THEIR activities
@@sadlobster1 Sewer Queen yes just for health reasons and for Kit I doubt it her parents will just that she has the potential to be an excellent and cutthroat business woman.
I'm trying to figure out where the Ancient Creek Kids would actually be today. Since the Creek was first founded in 1976, those kids would at least be in their mid-late 50s by now, so they'd be older than the parents in the show but still younger than the grandparents.
I knew this show was going somewhere! It was a matter of keep watching.

one person suggest Maya might kidnap Kit. I'm not sure if they'll go that far. But I think their right that they'll attack kit directly than try and lower her grades. They could actually try blockade tactics to cut her off from easy access to her grandmother. Or even steal her homework regularly. I think in terms of allies it probably won't be that hard to flip some of the kids ones they have to live under the kings rule. As soon as he hurts animals Wildernessa will be in, and the other kids just don't like people screwing with their play time in general.
I think their reluctance to join Cregg has more to do with not accept inconvenient truths, or make sacrifices for the greater good. And yes I do mean to use a global warming quote, or honestly the Covid deniers to. Their can be a general human instinct, to value short term gains over long term benefits. This is even more true where their is a high value on individualism like the creek. It's a place where no one tells you what to do, meaning your not expected to make sacrifices for other benefits.
It's both the best part of the creek, and what their trying to protect, but also it's greatest weakness. The duality of this has been explored several times, mostly in the episode where the council was established and the second time it met. In both cases they had to go against individuals freedoms (specifically one particular individual) for the benefit of the creek as a whole. Its kind of amazing how you can have such a deep real world concept expressed so well in a children's show.

I feel like in the eventual war that’s going to happen in the creek at some point in time the poison ivy grove that’s in the creek is going to become relevant because one of those kids are going to make them go through the poison ivy I feel like that is going to happen and when it does it’s going to be so fucking funny
i think the catch of the flag game will set on fifth season, where all the children on the creek start to fighting among themselves

if the king did takeover the creek, i personally feel like the tea timers would def be for it seeing how he'd bring "civility" to the creek. i also like how cannonball and boris are direct foils to the blur and aggie. even though there isn't a direct parallel between the sewer queen and jackie, i do like how they both belong to groups having to deal with water. my prediction is that the king will take over the creek and then there'll be a rebellion. also excited about how the devastating last capture the flag game is definitely gonna tie into the creek war (either part of the rebellion or taking place after it)
Maybe, but their whole thing is nobody being above them. With the king taking over the creek, HE’LL be above THEM. And something tells me they (specifically Eliza) won’t like that
Here's something I've been theorizing on.
If and went a War of the Creek happen it'll probably end with Craig successfully defeating The King, his followers see him (their King) lose to Craig, they renounce their loyalty toward him and those who have been afraid of him stand up to him and decided not to only never follow him again they strip him of his title of "King" and scared him and Maya (if she decide to remain by his side) away/out of theirs creek and out of his own kingdom then they come over to Craig and tell him that they want Craig to be theirs new King.
Two possible outcomes will happen.
1) Craig will take the offer and decide to become the new King and rule over both side of Creek making both side a better place.
2) Craig denied it and tell them they no longer need a King and are now free to do whatever when they want without someone telling them too, they accept it now there peach between both side of the creek.
3) Raj & Shawn becomes the new leader of their side and make it a better place for everyone.

I see it more as maybe Maya kipnapped and hold her hostage.
I mean I can get the whole make her lower her grade so her grandma stop given her treats but how would they go about with that? I know they can't fake it per say since it would still be her handing her paper over. Also a phone call is no go either as she would trust her granddaughter more!

Well the Capture the Flag War had been the second following arc in the series and in the episode, "The Game of Summer", Craig and friends did flags that cause the wars in the first place, so if somewhere down the line in the future where these two arc intertwine together an second Capture the Flag War is what we may be looking at down the road.
Plus I like wilderness but I just don't understand her she talks about protecting the creek and yet when Craig try to warn her she didn't listen some protector she is
Maybe it has to do with her obvious dislikly towards Craig and how she believes that Craig (unlike her) know little about nature.
And to be honest, her dislike towards Craig is what make Wilderness my least favorite, apart from Jason.
